Husband Charged With Attempted Murder For Shooting Wife in Head
Rankin County Deputies responded to Harbor Lane in reference to a disturbance between a husband and wife that resulted in the wife receiving a gunshot wound to the head at approximately 8:30 p.m. last night.
When deputies arrived on scene they immediately arrested the husband, Michael William FARMER, and secured the scene. After the suspect was secured, contact was made with the victim who was bleeding heavily from the head. Lake Harbor Fire Department and AMR responded to the victim and immediately began treating her.
Deputies learned from witnesses that the suspect, FARMER, was overheard telling the victim that he was going to “kill her” and that she was holding their baby in her arms when she was shot. Deputies also learned that an accomplice after the fact, Michael Scott MINTON, took the pistol used in the assault from the scene and assisted in attempting to dispose of the weapon.
Michael W. FARMER was transported to the Rankin County Jail and is being charged with Attempted Murder. Michael S. MINTON was transported to the Rankin County Jail and charged with Obstruction of Justice. Both suspects will appear before Rankin County Court Judge Kent McDaniel on the charges. District Attorney Michael Guest will present the case to the next Rankin County Grand Jury.
Parts of the weapon have been recovered and the search for additional parts continues.
The victim in this case has been released from the hospital.
This investigation continues.
Kingfish note: Mr. Farmer was apparently hospitalized last week for dehydration. Mr. Farmer was apparently upset as several posts on his public Facebook page indicate. Several more were posted on June 27 in a similar vein.
