Murders often go unsolved as murders continue at record paces in Jackson. CBS News took notice and came to Jackson last month. The mothers of murder victims met with Jim Axelrod in what can only be described as a heartbreaking. The tears still flowed long after the blood dried as the weeping women await justice in a city where too often justice is unknown. The video is posted below.
It is my understanding that JPD only has the detectives it has several years ago. It has been said at City Council meetings that detectives are not paid more than patrol officers but JJ has not verified if that is true. JPD is woefully understaffed. As Sheriff Vance often told me "This is not hard" as he said if there are less police then there is more crime.

There are so many things to absorb here for an outside viewer, but the two main things are;
Stay away from a city where you have a strong chance of being murdered.
There is an alarming lack of leadership and professionalism within the police department
and the mayor’s office.
This falls squarely on the mayor who is more consumed with himself and jet setting off to different locales lying about how awesome of a job he is doing in Jackson with his progressive, socialist, holistic, collective approach to city governance all the while grandstanding for a bigger stage. He gives zero f's about the city or people of Jackson.

I am a huge supporter of the police… however in the past 2 years I can tell you there really has been a change in JPD in terms of professionalism and understanding situations. They aren’t trained in domestic violent cases and often take wrong sides and can’t understand how to defuse situation without escalating it. I’m a trained social worker and JPD severely lacks all of the above
The mayor is a total joke even the police officers don’t like him
CBS race baits here stating blacks more likely to be victims of unsolved murders in Jackson where 99% of city cops, killers and victims are all black. They also more likely to be two legged.
notice the chief just blamed everything on the state crime lab. I can understand why the crime lab is back logged it's called 150 murders a year coming from Jackson. They never asked the chief about the un professional comments from detectives either. What a joke. The chief needs to be fired. The city council can actually do something about that. I have never seen the city in such a bad condition.

This will not change b/c everyone wants to be held blameless and be the victim.

The same people that bitch and whine about the police all the time are the ones always raising hell and calling the cops. The cops show up to do their jobs and all these radicals film the cops hoping to catch the least inappropriate act back the officers so they turn the video over to CNN and MSNBC. It's called the Ferguson Effect and you can thank Obama for it.

Wow. I'd say NBC's Lester the Fester really got scooped on that story. An all black panel of journalists, an all black forum of participants in a City of 150,000 that is only 84% black. Maybe it's a cultural problem. Nah, that would be too easy to admit and wouldn't be newsworthy.

The Jackson POlice are prett good at bringing crooks, murderers, carjackers, gang members, and home invaders to a booking desk and jail cell. Then the judicial system lets them go and whores like CBS reporters take advantage of grieving mothers to run on "News" programs to run their agenda, or sell the latest overpriced Pahrmaceutical product being pushed by big pharma on the "News" program ads they sell. to BLM, these black lives don't matter. they don't matter because there's no money for them to hustle out of anyone. there's no many to hustle out of anyone because it's black folks killing black folks.
to try and protest that would be shining a light on just how bad it is in jackson with black on black killings, and folks would start realizing that cops, of any color, are not out there hunting black people. that there is no gang of white supremecists hunting black people. it is almost exclusively black folks killing other black folks. in a city run by black folks. in a city that is overwhelmingly black. any of you liberals, progressive, leftists, out there, please prove me wrong.
i can only imagine the pain these parents are going through, and hope and pray i never have to experience it. but to fix this problem, you have to be honest with what is happening and why it is happening, instead of blaming it on a bunch of things that have absolutely nothing to do with what's going on.
One mother said a detective told her, "Your son was no angel." And she agreed, saying she still deserves answers, which she does of course. But when the mayor & police chief let violence if not gang warfare run rampant, sometimes there won't be answers, unfortunately.
Where are the dads?
Mayor Chockwe Lumumba, Sr. is rolling over in his grave at the pitiful performance by his son. What a disgrace to his legacy.

11:53, watched the video and your quote from a detective is not in the video. One mother said a detective told her that her son wasn’t “Perefct” to which she readily agreed. After all, the Word tells us that about everyone - Donald Trump’s own self assessment notwithstanding.
Sometimes there won’t be adequate answers. I know because I’ve lost a child. But compassion for one another, understanding and decency help when a parent is bearing such a loss. The Mayor is quick to throw his situation in there, yet his actions and attitude reflect his situation taught him little. The City will be better off once Antar goes to the next hustle, errr, position.
I have very little sympathy for anyone involved in this story.
The moms know this is a problem and need to stop electing people along racial lines. All the players involved are black and it needs a black solution. Fatherless bastards running the street and catch and release judges add to the problem.
This story acts like people are out to get black victims. It never stops to point out that the entire ecosystem of crime, from the victims to the cops, to the judges are all black. THAT is your story. What am I missing?

1-CBS should have mentioned the racial makeup of the police department and the city. It just screams “See, MS is still racist”
2-most of the murders NOT involving gang members are solved. I would think they are prioritizing “law abiding” folks instead of “crime lifestyle” thugs. again, CBS should have done some investigation into that
3-Most of the metro area does NOT live within the city of Jackson. CBS should have also mentioned the murder rates of the entire area and the demographics of the suburbs to get a complete picture as to what’s going on.
But it generated clicks for its audience. All the “news” outlets bait stories. All of them.
Yes, well, let's do pretend that 100 police officers are adequate for Jackson or that any federal help stops at the doorstep of the Capitol.

CBS portrayed the exact story it intended to portray. Surely you know that. It was never intended to be a “this is the real story” piece.
Ultimately, the State will take control of Jackson. As the capitol, it plays too important a part to let it continue to deteriorate.
The state will never take control of Jackson. The optics of that act is more than any politician is will to present. He/she/it would be crucified by main stream media, the left, and the RINO right. It would be political suicide.
