The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority Board of Commissioners attempted to hold a meeting yesterday but were unable to do so due to the lack of a quorum.
Commissioners Robert Martin and Lucius Wright showed up while Commissioner Ricky Jones stayed away. The Board has two vacancies. The City Council appointed pediatrician Dr. Geraldine Chaney to the Board in June but she resigned before attending any meetings.
The three Commissioners attended the regular monthly meeting Monday but Mr. Jones suddenly walked out of the meeting after the Board postponed a vote on the claims docket at his urging.

Is anything organized and efficient in Jackson MS?
How much they pay. Not doing anything since retired and apparently you don't need to know shit. Love watching aircraft. All I'd need is lounge chair, umbrella and some beer.
They get per diem every time they "meet," right?
Jones thought the meeting was in Paris. You can find him at the top of the Eiffel Tower watching airplanes flying by.
Looks like Harkins was on to something a long time ago.
Try to get someone to return your call from JMAA!! I called Monday & left a message & voice message. I called again yesterday same thing.
Still no one has returned my call. This is NOT how you run a business!!
Harkins needs to revisit the State taking this cluster @#$% over.
Bless their hearts!
I know one thing that works at the Airport. That is the speaker that has the mayor welcoming you to Jackson every 10 minutes or so.
I understand that if that PA announcement of Chowke bloviating stops working, heads will roll. He likes listening to himself en route to/from Atlanta, Banff, etc.
What eleven a.m. said times a hundred. Busch Light, in the interest of frugality, will be fine. Maybe an occasional service station hot-dog.
I can't afford air travel and only go out there to visit the Medgar exhibit and watch the Board photos on the glass-encased turntable. Sometimes I go a level down and watch the luggage delivery system. That's some high-tech stuff right there!
Well she has the right idea, get the hell out of there… what happened to the interim CEO after this last guy left. Did he jump ship too?
Can we confirm that after Chaney was confirmed by the council actually resigned before attending any meetings?
Brown resigned and typical board fashion they gave him the boot by “accepting his resignation “. *see othors past posts.
The board didn’t begin on time. The meeting was scheduled to start at 4. This isn’t uncommon as this board has thrown the public off by scheduling meetings only to reschedule after the meeting was supposed to begin. Check the website on a regular basis.
This board does not know what constitutes a special or emergency board meeting. I don’t blame legal council because the board does what they want. Watch YouTube.
Why is Jones complaining about ratifying a vote like this when he easily did so a couple of months ago.? * check the YouTube page.
Unnamed employee is Von Anderson - Chief Commercial Officer.
You were told no cameras because no one knows there the law. They also have to say whatever this board says.
Kingfish - this isn’t the first time you’ve sat outside for a few hours waiting for nothing to happen. This board (since 2014) is well know for this.
Don’t get upset about what the public sees in the agenda packet. The board has always had a different set that gives additional details.
This board did exactly what it was set out to do in 2014. Check the claims docket to see which friends and family got rich. Dig deeper into the airport and Jackson. Real deep. It’s not hard to piece the puzzle together.
How much cash on hand was there when dirk left compared to now.
How much turnover since 2015.
Which employee failed to upload the minutes when CFO was wrongfully terminated? Sounds like BS since they couldn’t produce them when you stopped by.
I will gladly serve on the board.
My qualifications:
1 I've got nothing better to do and promise to not miss too many meetings, unless there is an old Baywatch Segment on the TV. I think the board should assume I am booked up for those days.
2 I know where the airport is.
3 I have in fact, flown (On an airplane).
4 I will serve at half the current pay scale, if donuts are provided.
5 I promise to shake hands and greet any small child that waits to see me walk ast in the daily "clown parade" (as long as it is a scheduled event)
6 I will make myself available for scheduled press conferences at a frequency 1.78862% more frequent than the mayor, s long as someone else figures how often he actually press conferences on airport conserns. Documention of such activity by the mayor is beyond my capability.
7 To my knowledge, there are no Polybears serving of the board, so my presence would address Polybear inclusion conserns.
Negatives:
1 I once fell under the airport's authority (Hawken's field)
2 I want to have a badge and be able to carry a gun.
3 I'll need free parking, with a reserved spot, close to whatever building they use for meetings. I AM NOT HANDICAPPED, in spite of what my wife says, so my spot can't be in the handicapped area of parking. Would be nice if it was closer than they get.
4 I will gladly stand before the press for photo shoot sessions, just not with the mayor.
5 I will not serve as documentarian for the board, but I will serve as party planner for any european fact finding trips we might take, and promise to bring a Sam's comptainer of cashew nuts for us to snack on during the flght.
6 All of my expenses must be refundalbe and reports not subject to audit by that Attorner eneral guy - I forget his name.
7 I want a pack of swell looking business cards with my photo. I will provide a current shot
Bonus points for naming the commissioner that had an airport police badge made and was carrying a gun on property.
Stokes keeps saying something about commissioners and residency. Today Airport commissioners are nominated by the mayor and approved by the city council based off their ward in Jackson. Question - If a commissioner moves out of the city of Jackson (dare you say to Rankin County) does he or she abandon this appointment? If yes, does this nullify any actions taken by this commissioner after this residency change?
July 30, 2022 at 12:20 PM - Is it the same commissioner who is currently "in charge", who is the same commissioner that was rumored to be taking flying lessons while driving all over hill and dale - and oh, read the bio on the JMAA website which says he WAS a pilot from 2001 to 2016 (just saying), who is the same commissioner being referred to in the July 31, 2022 at 6:54PM post? So carrying a gun on airport premises...might be able to actually fly himself but cannot be a passenger....and does not live in Jackson. How can any of this be? Like really.
11:00 We love you! You are spot on!
