The Capitol Police issued the following statement.
On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, Capitol Police arrested a 49-year-old John Authur Banks. Banks was wanted in connection with several business burglaries that have taken place in the Capitol Complex District during the month of July. Banks was charged with six felony counts of Business Burglary for breaking into the following locations:
Steve’s Deli
Downtown Pizza and Daiquiri
Mississippi Farmer’s Market
Fennian’s Pub
La Cazuela Mexican Grill
Keifer’s Restaurant
After arresting Banks, Capitol Police learned that Jackson Police Department also had two unserved felony warrants for his arrest. He is currently being housed in the Hinds County Detention Center and no bond has been set at this time.
During their investigation, Capitol Police learned that 31-year-old James Tyree Robinson was also involved in the burglary that occurred at Keifer’s Downtown. Robinson was initially arrested by Capitol Police on July 3rd, he was charged with Felony Malicious Mischief and Arson. It was later determined that Robinson also entered Kiefer’s and stole several items from the business after Banks had broken into the restaurant through the glass door. Robinson has been charged with one felony count of Business Burglary for his role in this incident and is currently being housed at Hinds County Detention Center.

Hope this is a trend.
Known by Capitol police officers as the Oreo Bandits.
Goof work by law enforcement. Thank you.
Good. Hopefully they will stay incarcerated. These people not only hurt small businesses, but they deter visitors from feeling safe in coming into Downtown.
throw away the key....
Jackson Police Department has two unserved felony warrants for his arrest.
Sanctuary City!
Steve’s has not reopened, anyone know if he is ?
Cue up Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder
Cue up the Seinfield Dinner Party episode.
See what what we can do when we bridge the racial gap! Ebony and Ivory.....an unbeatable destructive force.
So that idea about getting a thugs tag number then arresting him later was a load of bull crap. One man already had two felony arrest warrants for his arrest and they were not even served. How is Jackson not a sanctuary city? They will not serve the arrest warrants they do have.
Tyree (Jones) and Banks (Aaron) lol
Reckon they will go to Judge Green and get the usual?
I've heard (on this blog, nowhere else) about The Capitol Police. I assumed it was a small group of people assigned to pull guard duty at the Capitol Building and maybe the governor's mansion. I guess that's wrong. Where can I find more information about his division of government, who they administratively report directly to, etc. Thanks.

The Capitol police was its own police department but did little other than what you stated about security for the government buildings. It has since been consumed by DPS and is having a major revamp. New Admin has been brought in who know what they are doing and already making things happen. They will ultimately be responsible for the Capitol Complex (fondren, fair grounds, Gov buildings) and will have a full patrol division, investigation unit and flex unit.
Reply to 1:56 - Steve's Deli is open. Steve took a few days off in July for a well deserved vacation.
Sounds like the Capital Police's jurisdiction and personnel may soon be getting larger. JPD to be absorbed by JPS and relegated to School Crossings and security. Besides, Capital Police name is more appropriate.

Perhaps you should pay attention. It's been in existence and in state law for eons.
