The city of Jackson issued the following statement.
The precautionary boil water notice on City of Jackson surface water connections including areas of Byram and Hinds County has been lifted.
A separate boil water notice
has been issued for residents of the Queens-Magnolia Terrace
community in Jackson after issues with the replacement of a water meter
by an outside contractor. This notice affects approximately 1,000
connections on the City’s system.
PWS 250008 63 BWN 2022
Due to the recent loss in water
pressure, the City of Jackson/Sewer Utilities Division has issued a
precautionary boil water advisory until further notice for the following
areas:
- Queens-Magnolia Terrace Community
- [100-699] North Flag Chapel Road
- [5300-5799] Clinton Boulevard
- East Street
- Loden Place
This is a precautionary advisory. This notice does not mean that your water is unsafe, but it does mean that
you must take precaution and boil your water before use. All customers are advised to boil their drinking water until adequate pressure is restored to the system. Water should
be brought to a rolling boil for one minute for the
following: cooking or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication,
brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices
or drinks feeding pets, washing dishes and
all other consumption.

16 days inclusive of boil water notices. Except for Queens-Magnolia Terrace community. They get to continue boiling their water.
If they can't drink water, let them sip champagne.
Please, Kingfish! For God's and the rest of our sake...enough already about the fucking Jackson water problems! Every damned day, as many as three to five threads on this crap. It's like seeing those damned Joe Namath and JJ commercials over and over and over and over.
There is no reason in hell to keep this repetitive, redundant, boring, tiresome, uninteresting and (by now) irrelevant bull shit monopolizing this page every day. Do you really think anybody checks the page every morning in hopes of finding something else posted about anything related to water in Jackson?
939 - then quit the f*** reading those posts that you consider redundant. There are some people that do read them - you and your ilk (assuming there are other assholes in the audience) don't get to decide what is and is not posted here for comment.
Its easy. Takes no effort. Scroll past it. I do it every few days when DL Gardner's comments are posted. It isn't hard.
You should never stop boiling and filtering your water if you choose to stay in Jackson.
I followed their orders and boiled a pot of water for my cat to drink.
Sumbitch went and drank out of a puddle.
Stupid cat.
Or not, right?
939, if it wasn’t for JJ there would be little to no reliable news coming out if the city. If you don’t want to read about it, don’t click the links. Just move along.
9:39, why don't you just read the Clarion Ledger if you just want Mickey Mouse news coverage?
Has the state lifted its notice?
Thank you KF for these threads. Those of us who have to rely on Jackson water (and we don't all live in Jackson) have found this to be the only place we can get the real facts. The mayor lies, the council is often silent, and the media won't say anything either, apparently because they're terrified of being branded racist. This site is where we can learn what REALLY happened. Please keep it up! Change won't happen without TRUTH!
9:39, I assure you, those of us unfortunate enough to get our water from Jackson look at all available media waiting for news. If you're tired of reading it, skip it. Unless you'd rather complain...?
Standing by for the next notice in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...
Insanity (Jackson style) definition: Re-electing Baby Chowke and expecting different results.
Cher 8:08 p.m., merci pour channeling your inner Marie Antoinette, and restez assured, many of us who remain here in town do exactly as you suggest. And now, if I may summon my own inner Frenchman, J-P Sartre, I’ll add: “l’enfer, c’est Jackson.”
Stokes Radio this morning aint doing so well. Kenny apologized for sleeping in last Sunday and missing the show. Can't seem to keep a phone line going this morning. He was just diving into the incompetence of the Jackson water system and the phones go down! Call us back Kenny!
This has nothing to do with water, but…why do commenters keep misspelling “Chokwe” as “Chowke”? Is there a subtle linguistic joke I’m missing? Of course, either way, it’s one of those made-up aliases—wasn’t the mayor’s father christened something fairly mainstream, until he decided to crayon over his birth certificate?
Stokes Radio. This morning's broadcast cancelled. Kenny just starting to rip in on the incompetence of the city water system yet he can't maintain a good phone line to the radio station. Oh well at least I got a good sermon about Joseph before the show.
@10:56 AM and @10:49 AM - it's Jackson. Do you really expect the phones to work properly when almost everything else is broken, right?
Wiki is your friend here.
I think the City dedicated a fire truck to the Mair and they spelled his name on the door of the truck as "Chowke". I think it kinda stuck.
Chokwe Antar Lumumba will never be the answer to a puzzle on Wheel of Fortune as you'd have to spend a fortune for the vowels to solve the puzzle. Unlike the water in Jackson, those don't come cheap.
The JMAA has money to go to Paris each year because they'll never have to spend a dime for new letters to spell the future Mair's name, they'll just have to dig through the letters in the weeds and poison ivy behind the sign at the airport to spell out the future Mair's name.
My advice is “don’t throw the do not use water” signs away.
IF Kenny wanted to actually be competent about getting his message on the radio about the incompetence of the City, he could have either got a burner phone that Chowke's real time crime center don't know about (insert chuckle) or he could have got his big ass in his car and burned his $4.299 a gallon gas like the rest of us to do the radio show in person AT the WOAD studio. Oh the irony in diving into the incompetence of others with a bad phone connection to the radio station and having the show cancelled because of....incompetence. Don't need Maury Povich to tell us "When it comes to Kenny, Kenny, you are NOT the credible messenger!" after this morning's non-production.
Other than that, it was a nice morning to ride through Jackson listening to the gospel radio, maybe I'll find that girl with far away eyes.
@ 9:39 & Kingfish--as a Jackson resident, I do appreciate the water updates. Not that I ever really feel *good* about drinking from the tap, but it's always nice to know if I am going to get any added flavor when brushing my teeth.
Many thanks, 12:21, for the clarification. Tu es trop gentil, comme toujours. I don’t, of course, expect much from this site in the areas of “speling and grammer”, and have come to look at the occasional ALL CAPS with mild irritation instead of murderous rage. Well, water crisis over and done, for the moment. Now, let us move on to more urgent civic concerns, like that nut in Belhaven who feeds raccoons. Slow summer, n’est-ce pas?
Has anyone said NOT to drink the water immediately after boiling it???? It might burn your innurds….. or it might melt your toof brush…..or has anyone considered what is going to happen to the mayor since the feds are serious bout this kinda stuff? People in Flynt Michigan went to jail over stuff like this
I heard that Bruno Mars is going back to the studio to do a remake of Uptown Funk and replace it with “Jacktown Fuc#ed it up, Jacktown fuc#ed it up.
Nope! These water threads give us zero news. Reading the posts will teach you nothing that you need to know. The posts are only bashing over and over and over, both by Kingfish and the harpies in Weejuns that post their bashes.
Nothing is gleaned that can be remotely attached to your safety or that's newsworthy. If you think I'm wrong, read back through every post above this one and give an example of something you hoped to learn when you came to "the only place we can get the real facts".
The reason these repetitive, constant 'water threads' need to be trimmed (from six to one at most) or scrapped is that they monopolize the entire blog when other, more relevant items could be covered. But, it's easy to be lazy and keep repeating the same thing over and over while asking for money to support the page.
@9:39
Speak for your effin’ self, Lumumba. This is the site I depend on for Jackson news.
