Nursing home evacuees were literally packed into a warehouse, yes, warehouse, in Independence, La.* Four patients died. Warehouse workers barred he Louisiana Department of Health employees from entering the warehouse. WWL-TV reported:
Get ready for this part. The police chief who just happens to be the Governor's brother, says there is no need for an investigation. The Times Picayune reported:
As soon as they arrived at the warehouse, the nurses said they tried to segregate residents from South Lafourche Nursing and Rehab from the others, as they worried about COVID spreading rapidly through the masses of people inside. They said the warehouse had 10 to 12 showers, four lavatory sinks and a group of port-a-potties, while there were mattresses on the floor for most residents....
“Our whole purpose was not to get anything their residents had,” one nurse said. “You could tell the other nursing home residents were neglected — they were so neglected. They would yell at us, ‘Please help me, I’m thirsty, I need to be changed, I’ve been full of shit for the past two hours.’ The hardest thing we had to do was keep walking and not help them. That was one of the hardest things I ever had to do.”
The other nurse described similar conditions.
“They were laying on the floor, in feces, and the blowup mattresses were flat,” she said. “You’d walk past them and they’d say, ‘Help me, help me.’ I ended up vomiting twice because the smell was so bad.”
She said they improvised their own bathroom to keep the South Lafourche nursing home residents from having to share with so many others. They placed a bucket underneath a shower chair with a hole in it, filled the bucket with cat litter and would spray it down with bleach after each use....
LDH investigators visited the facility five times before they made the call to shut it down, evacuate the patients and open an investigation. Nursing home management kicked the inspectors off the premises when they visited Tuesday. LDH officials said that nursing home management also never told them that the situation was growing worse, and that they needed help.... Article.
WAFB reported:
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said the Independence Police Department would be the agency in charge of investigating the deadly situation. But in an astonishing interview with Lee Zurik of WAFB’s sister station WVUE-Fox 8, Independence Police Chief Frank Edwards said he had not concluded an investigation was needed.
“I’m not aware of an investigation. ... I don’t mean to be crass, but under the circumstances those numbers (at least four dead) do not strike me as being unusual,” Edwards said. “I’m not apologizing for anyone. I was there, and I wouldn’t have wanted my mother or grandmother to be in those conditions. I just don’t think with the resources I have right now that an investigation would be the best way of using them.”
He's backtracking now that the Governor has gotten involved.

Where is Joe Biden and the federal government?
Well ? Gov of New York got away with it. Know how you fix this injustice ? Quit electing crooked ass satans to office. Quit believing your leaders are Gods who can save you from bad things. Pointless to say anything other than .....RIP and prayers the elderly that were treated this way.
Joe and Co. would probably leave them behind as well.
State regulators were turned away from the site
And more like 20 people died…..it’s a mess
I don't how this became about Biden and Cuomo, other than people are obsessed with news programming. I think the term "news programming" has taken on new meaning in recent years.
As to the post, I can't help but wonder how much the warehouse owners expected to be paid for their "service."
3:55 ....JUST PROVES THESE ELECTED DOGS LEARN NOTHING FROM PAST MISTAKES. All they are out for is themselves and the old pocket book and I can see no end to this sickness.
Imagine this happening under a Republican Governor. Would the media be as silent as they are now?
5:12. yes. florida nursing homes come to mind..
Same happened during Katrina outside of Raymond…….
Don't know about Louisiana, but, in Mississippi, the state's Attorney General has full enforcement and arrest powers regarding nursing homes. The full force and authority of the State Highway Patrol and other state LEO would descend on these places like shit out of a goose. Or quicker.
@6:40 PM,
Please tell your source of this incident.
Liberalism is a mental disease.
Think about if this had happened in Florida under DeSantis, or if Trump werePresident. Impeachment by the Democrats!
King - the nursing homes in Mississippi also warehouse the Medicaid folks during hurricanes. See if you can find out where the nursing homes on the 3 Gulf Coast counties sent their patients.
I don't know about Lynn, but if this were in Mississippi, Hood would have been all over it.
What were the alternatives?
To even say there’s no need for an investigation pretty much says it all. Where are the families of these victims? Of course a company with a profit margin doesn’t give a rats ass about the elderly. To them they are a liability when things turn sideways. It’s a business. Actually caring for people who are charged incredible amounts of money a year to be taken care of is secondary when things get ugly. Some agencies are better than others. But in the long run it’s just best to die before your thrown into these pits of despair.
Cuomo will walk and he killed thousands of seniors in NY. Nothing will come from this either. This country is circling the bowl.
Good question...So I'll ask it again, myself: 'What was the alternative?'
Speak up oh ye pontificators of excellent advice.
Crickets? That's OK too.
Blue administrations always get a pass, after the DNC controlled media pens "old news.
Nothing to see here, as this was all approved by the deep state's death panel, now headed by Cuomo.

Fucking Brilliant question 11:17 AM.
The alternative was very simple.
Transfer these poor souls to facilities outside of the potential
"impact area".
The National Weather Service is pretty accurate these days.
800 hundred people could have easily been temporarily
relocated to qualified facilities throughout Northwest Louisiana.
It's actually no different if your loved one was in a nursing home, (say... in Byram) and without any advanced notice, they were thrown into the back of a truck and moved to a damn unused Nissan warehouse ... a few miles up I-55.
6:20 - Think about what you just posted and how damned stupid your recommendation was. How about using school buses, Mr. Nagin? Or maybe a coliseum? Or every hotel from Hattiesburg to Grenada. Where do you think these 800 beds would be? And 400 ambulances? And 300 additional nurses? You need to get back on the zero-turn and ride this one out, Bubba. Be sure to pocket your NOAA Weather Radio.
11:17 am
Pay attention to the AG hearing on the matter.
You will hear testimony from other home operators who moved their 10 homes to facilities where patients received adequate care and treatment.
A friend will be a witness and he is mortified.
So if you really want an answer….stay tuned.
Well 6:50, you have no clue about basic logistics.
Moving 800 people to safety is not that difficult.
Babbling about Hattiesburg & Grenada has nothing to do with
these poor souls down in New Orleans.
(I'm guessing you may have been on Joe's Afghan evacuation team)?
If so, welcome home sport!
I don't know where 8:12 was following Katrina, but the feds utilized many hotel floors from Hattiesburg to Grenada then. Remember? It took a year and a half to root some of those grifters out of Jackson hotels. Many ninth warders wound up in Texas and Oregon and are still causing trouble. Logistics? Right, Bub. The gubment was on it.
The notion of "How many can you take?" worked for Confederate Dead but won't for a thousand nursing home patients.
Back to that Zero-Turn!
State regulators were turned away from the site. September 3, 2021 at 3:55 PM
Citation/Link?
"State Regulators" in Mississippi have credentials, badges, guns, big tires and blue lights. They don't get 'turned around' by split-tail nursing home staff. Not sure about Lou-Zanner. But, Ima doubtin' your claim.
