Jackson community activist Adofo Minko is encouraging minorities not to vote on Election Day next week. Barnett would be proud. The African-American Hinds County Public Defender posted these messages on Facebook recently:
“There are a lot of people who believe somehow that obtaining these degrees is going to somehow provide them with some type of protection that other black people are not going to have. That is a delusion. When these people come down upon you, when they get into their racist hysteria they are not going to care if you have a degree from Hunter [College]. Their going to see your face and shoot you in the streets and that’s going to be it. As a matter of fact, the smarter ones are going to be shot first. In any repressive system it is the educated ones or the intelligentsia that is most repressed because often times they have enough resources to provide leadership for revolution to overthrow the repressive governments. When I was being raised in Mississippi, you knew you were in trouble with white folks when you became known as a smart xxxxxx.” -Dr. Amos Wilson
So, apparently, telling the truth about the backward political system two weeks ahead of the midterm elections is hate speech. Still believe we have “free speech”?
Our ancestors did not die for the right to vote. They died fighting for liberation. At a certain point, they felt the vote was a key to our freedom. If you believe and are propagating this in 2018, you should be horse whipped. Voting is one tool that could be used in our fights for liberation. However, given the lack of voter education and political education even using it as a tool has limited value. Stop acting as if the world will end if people don’t vote. Also people should stop acting as if oppression will cease just because they don’t vote. We must be calculating and strategic in our political endeavors.
Your willingness to remain on the demoncratic party plantation is not a matter of personal choice. It is a matter of collective survival.
Never change, Mr. Minko, never change.

You might want to remember that it is a great thing that more Black people are not like Minka given the very real history of oppression in this country. The great emphasis on voting which is the hallmark of Black politics is also an affirmation of Black dedication to peaceful change. Minka is probably right in thinking that most other people, especially Whites, would have resorted to violent revolution or covert warfare had they received the treatment Black people got for centuries. That being said, Minka leads no one, speaks for no one, and essentially influences no one, except those who wish to hold him up as a symbol of the "face of Jackson". Let him rave on.

I've known for decades that we have revolutionaries walking (and knuckle-dragging) among us. Some of just darker than others. If he succeeds in ginning up a civil war, maybe he'll be one of the first to be laid in a pine box. But, more than likely, his ass will be stashed away safely in a bunker, far from the action, calling signals as it were, from the locker room.

I completely agree with him. None of his supporters should vote.
I remember someone commenting on a JJ post some weeks or a month ago and they described a theoretical violent revolutionary takeover of Jackson. This person was rebutted by numerous other comments stating that violent revolution was preposterous. Seems that such a revolution is on the mind of at least one influential Jacksonian. How influential he is in reality may be questionable. But it still appears that a threat exists. If revolutionary forces seized the state capital, how exactly would state agencies function? History shows it doesn't take a large revolutionary force to overthrow a government when that government is corrupt and incompetent.

De-emphasizing law and order IS a revolution in itself so in effect it's started. I've posted on here 100 times the state will at some point have to take over Jackson...mark my words. It will be done out of necessity to maintain a safe place to conduct state government.

Good catch. I'm the poster who shared the theories months ago about Revolutionary activity in Jackson and I also posted links to the Open Society Foundation's funding of socialist groups in Jackson.
Most of your average suburban WLBT watchers are clueless of just how involved the Lamumba dynasty is in communist and separatist movements. The primary theory involves the high level placement of sympathetic communists to unelected positions on city and state government. You can really see the long term foundations being laid in the capital city and around the nation.
Readers of this post may not see the revolution in their lifetime, but their children will if it isn't stopped.

8:29 The Republic of New Afrika never advocated or practiced "hate' or violence towards any group or race. Their advocacy was focused on self-determination and socialist principles. The only violence they were ever involved with was in self defense. The "New Black Panthers" on the other hand are a questionable bunch of wannabes who have little connection with the original Black Panther Party other than stealing their name. Who knows what some persons claiming to be members might say. I hope this helps.
Minka is a flake. There are thousands all over the country. They should be identified and loosely watched, but they do not lead any "movement". The only reason Minka is featured in the media as much as he is, is because he works as a Hinds County public defender. That, not his opinions, is the issue!
