It appears Socrates is back in the fold. The agenda for today's meeting of the Jackson City Council states:
Jackson also gets $5,000 from Domino's for pothole repair.
Nice.

$5,000? That's it?!?
Cool! So are they going to use this to buy some of that polymer stuff or for a search team to find the "missing" pothole patching machine?
Someone needs to keep an eye on that $5,000 and make sure it's appropriated for fixing the streets as designated.
Interesting! A non-profit has been demolishing state/city owned tax forfeited houses.
The $5000 is really only worth $3000 of scope after the city's 40% EBO requirements are applied.
11:01, how much did you give? They didn't have to give anything.
Thank you, Domino's.
Glad to have their $5000, which as is noted is good PR for them - and awfully cheap. This $5k will take care of the potholes on a few blocks of one street - and I'm sure that those that drive that one street will be glad to see it improved. But - nothing to write home about; the 1% folks tried to spend $4 million last years and the city did nothing with it because it wasn't enough to even do just part of the city.
Sure hope dominos is not waiting on an interlocal agreement to be executed by the city. Might be waiting a long time. Just ask Hinds County.
This is really great! They've earned my business for at least one pizza - I might as well try it, just for them investing in the community.
Nice PR stunt. Doesn’t change the fact that Dominos makes terrible pizza.
I will vote for CEO of Domino's to be the next mayor of he can do all that throughout jackson for 5k. He's a superstar! Smmmthhh
Now if we can git Budweiser, Miller and some of those crafty kinda beers to do the same thing we might be gittin somewhere.....maybe even some malt liquor makers!
I wonder if Papa John's had come up with this idea, would this City have been nearly as interested in taking their money.
Last night I was driving north on ridgewood around 11:45 pm and I saw what looked like an early 00’s Camaro convertible with an american flag paint scheme or some kind of wrap, with some work lights and something else sticking out of the back seat. It was parked on one of the side streets on the right side between eastover and meadowbrook (or maybe northside, I can’t remember). There appeared to be an individual swinging what looked like a sledge hammer on the side of the road. It looked like something out of The Purge. I wanted to stop and get a pic, but was a little scared to be honest. Could he have been a Domino’s employee repairing a pothole?
Someone with a more actuarial mind tell me if this is a stupid idea.
Designate a % of the 1% tax into a long term trust / financial vehicle and do not touch it. Commit to it no matter the cost.
Long term vision would be to establish high enough capital to use earnings alone for street repairs. This is a benefit Jacksonians 50+ years from now would see.
Good advertising for Domino's, but should be extremely embarrassing for the City of Jackson. $5,000 is good for about 40 potholes - a drop in the bucket. There are whole roadways needing to be repaved, and they will still be in that condition long after the Domino's repairs have turned to rubble, once again.
11:39am I know the car you speak of and can say with absolute certainty that guy does deliver pizzas. I can’t recall which chain he worked for but he’s been in the area for years.
