It's time for Matchbook Monday. Some true gems of Jackson's past are
posted below. Feel free to add your stories or any information about
them in the comments section as you enjoy these blasts from the past. Readers
can email copies of any old matchbooks to
kingfish1935@gmail.com. There is at least one politically incorrect one in this batch. Enjoy.
First up is Tarrymore Courts Restaurant on Terry Road. Like many other former businesses on Terry Road, it is long-forgotten and little known even to Google.
However, the inside of the matchbook probably makes this one the most politically incorrect matchbook discovered by JJ.
Here is a more classy one.
Jacksonians made many a trip to Vicksburg over the years to sample the cuisine that could be found in the River City. Some JJ readers may remember Magnolia.
What would Matchbook Monday be without a trip to the Cherokee for lunch? Thanks to the reader who submitted this one to JJ.

Ha! The Tarrymore one is pretty funny. Sadly, it's probably more relevant today than back then. I hope the JFP-ers don't see your post.
The roast beef lunch at the Cherokee was outstanding. You could even smoke a cigarette while eating!
RIP to the 'kee.
1121, the roast beef po-boy on Friday was even better; the Thursday lunch roast beef had the overnight to marinate in its aujus, and made a really good po-boy. RIP 'kee
any one have a picture of the GLASS HOUSE, @ Terry Rd and US 80 ? or
