Lock & load: Murder suspect was free on bond after stabbing a cop. (Update: ARRESTED)

Update #3 (9/21/2017): Johnson was arrested and is in custody.

Update #2 (9/20/17): Judge Kidd revoked his bond although Johnson still remains at large.

Update: It gets better. Bond was only $1,000.  That's right.  Stab a cop, Hinds County Judge continues the suspect's  bond at $1,000.

Shamsid-dunce might want to pay attention to this post.  JPD has a suspect in a stabbing death that took place on Woodrow Wilson Drive.  JPD tweeted:

Allen Johnson-58, for the charge of murder in the Sunday evening fatal stabbing of Charles Green-60 on Woodrow Wilson. Call police.

Johnson was free on bond after he was indicted in January for aggravated assault with a deadly weaspon after he allegedly slashed Lieutenant (HCSO) Mike Wroten's forearm and kicking him in the torso last November.  The same indictment charged him with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm in the same incident.  The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Winston Kidd.

The indictment further states that he was convicted of manslaughter on April 22, 1982 (yes, 1982) and aggravated assault on December 12, 2003.

Consider this suspect to be armed and VERY dangerous!!!

This guy is just misunderstood and needs another chance.

Community rallies to stop violence won't cut it. Violent crime will not decrease as long as people that commit these crimes do not fear punishment as this county has proven time and time again there is no fear of retribution. At what point will Hinds County realize that if they send people to prison for their crimes they may see a slight decrease in violent crime. Most likely the reason why the VIOLENT crime rate in surrounding counties is dramatically lower considering the combined population of Madison and Rankin Counties is comparable to Hinds. How can one of the most violent cities in the country be so close to some of the safest communities.

What does it take to unseat a judge such as this one while they are still in office?

This seems odd. I see big gaps between his prior violent episodes. Is he in Whitfield or a drug treatment program? Is there no explanation for Judge Kidd's ruling?

I'm not sure that the current punishment structure is a deterrent. I don't have the solution, but when the Hinds County Jail looks more like a block party than a detention facility, and convictions mean absolutely nothing, I honestly don't know where we go from here.

Thank you Kingfish, for helping the general public to realize that Hinds County's problems are not JPD. The problem is the failed DA and a couple or three judges (elected) who refuse to hand down consequences consistent with crimes committed. Now, if local media, including both free and paid newspapers would hammer this situation, maybe a half-asleep voting public would wake up to the problem.

There's only two reasons he would have committed these crimes-

1) The state takeover of JPS
2) Statues

Charles Green's family should sue Judge Kidd for his negligence

@7:41 gets it. We have a government-supported violent subculture that is not deterred by our criminal "justice" system. In many (if not most) cases, the subculture glorifies its members who have been through the system. The current correctional solutions don't work with that population. I don't know the answer, but we need to be honest about the root of the problem.

Facts:

1) Judge continued the bond that was previously set.

2) We need to know more before we criticize the Judge. Does the person have a mental condition and the jail says we cant handle him, so give him a low bond to get him out of here. If that's the case, this is a failure of the mental health system and the continued budget cuts that take away resources from the department of mental health. Whitfield doesnt have money to hold these people so they get dropped off on the streets in Jackson. The jail is not equipped to handle them so they get released quickly. But who cares about facts, it is easier to read a story in 60 seconds and be an expert.

3) Also, this guy had a public defender, which means he likely has no money. A $1000 for him might be the equivalent of coming up with a $100,000 for some of you all.

I said bond was continued. However, the Judge could have increased it. Slashed a cop, felon with firearm, prior conviction of manslaughter and agg. assault. Judges increase bonds at arraignment all the time.

10:15, Is it fair to the law abiding public to let criminals like this loose ? If the jail cannot handle them we should find new law enforcement officers. Better judges would help quite a bit.
People make up so many excuses for criminals being released back on the streets with a slap on the wrist. Law enforcement and judges are wishing the citizens would take up arms to protect themselves from the people they set loose. The only help citizens are getting comes from other criminals that are killing each other as fast as they can. The bad thing is they also kill innocent citizens who come in contact with them.

Any judge that allows a criminal to commit additional crimes while out on bail needs to be put behind bars in the same cell as those they send out to commit more crimes.

7:41, You may be right. It isn't really a "block party". More like a sorority for criminals. Maybe a daycare for thugs. A sewer for the scum.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
