The Mississippi Department of Corrections issued the following statement.
Crime Stoppers Reward Offered in Search for 2 Parchman Escapees
JACKSON – A Crime Stoppers reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the capture of Parchman escapees James R. Sanders and Ryan Young.
Sanders, 41, is serving life for homicide/murder in Lafayette County. He was sentenced in July 2000.
Young, 22, is serving 40 years for burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a residence, grand larceny, and possession of a firearms by a convicted felon in Claiborne County. He was sentenced in 2015.
The two men are believed to have escaped Unit 30 at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman between late Sunday night and early Monday morning. They were discovered missing during the routine count.
Sanders, #K3337, white male, and Ryan Young, #168743, a black male, both of whom stand at 5 feet 9 inches tall, are considered armed and dangerous.
