A shooting in New Orleans brings to mind the old "Less Filling! Tastes Great!" arguments of beer commercials past. The New Orleans Times-Picayune, yes- it is still around, reported:
An argument between years-long friends over which beer is better -- Budweiser or Busch -- ended Saturday in Harvey with a shotgun blast, authorities said.
Clarence Sturdivant, 64, shot his 66-year-old neighbor, Walter Merrick, said Col. John Fortunato, spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Merrick was treated for a wound on his elbow and small pellet puncture wounds to his arm and chest. His injuries were not considered life threatening, Fortunato said.
The beer showdown occurred Saturday afternoon (March 7) at a complex of single-story apartment buildings in the 1500 block of Esther Street in Harvey. Merrick told investigators that he and Sturdivant were chatting in the parking lot when Sturdivant asked for a beer, a Sheriff's Office incident report said.
Merrick returned with a can of Busch beer -- apparently not Sturdivant's brew of choice. An angry Sturdivant declared his preference for Budweiser, according to the report.... Rest of article
However, the comments themselves are gold:
I don't always shoot my friends while drinking, but when I do I prefer a Mossberg 12-gauge
I guess that these guys never knew that Budweiser and Busch Beer are brewed by the same company. Or, that Budweiser is world renowned. But, Busch is "Hood Renowned". Both are cheap American Beers...Next it will be...what's better... D&D SAUSAGE OR MR.T'S!
Sounds like this could be the makings of a couple of good beer commercials.
Busch... to die for!
Or...
I could kill for a good cold Bud right now!
Word has it that the fight started over which style of truck nutz is best. Surprised they weren't arguing about their favorite Browning poet---Robert or Elizabeth. (KF: Robert, and I'll flay you if you say otherwise. Shooting is so 20th century.)
None would beat an ice cold FALSTAFF !
I wonder if this is alcohol related
This calls for a beer summit with John Osterlind!
Taste great. Less filling. Taste great. Less filling. Taste...BANG
Wait! What? Crazy old men. Everyone knows PBR is the best!
You can't make this stuff up! Sounds like a skit for SNL from years ago.
When was the last time you heard of an episode like this about the merits of Merlot vs. Cabernet Sauvignion or California vs. French wines? Now when you bring up Camembert vs. Brie, those can lead to a duel as well. lol

Why does this remind me of Scuzz Twittly's 'Keep Yer Hands Off My PBR'?
Can we look forward to Kingfish now marching in neon costume with all the goofy thirty something craft-beer children in the Metro? I look forward to seeing his photo in the upcoming parades.
