Warning: The Lumumba Administration considers this post to be disinformation.
Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba met with State Senators John Horhn, David Blount, Sollie Norwood and Representatives De'Keither Stamps, Zakiyah Summers, Hillman Frazier, Chris Bell, and Earle Banks Wednesday to discuss the water crisis. The legislators represent Jackson. Such a meeting is expected during an emergency such as the water crisis. However, what was interesting was who accompanied the Mayor.
The Mayor brought his posse of Chief of Staff Dr. Safiyah Omari, "Hondo Lumumba", Pastor Dewayne Pickett, and Ward 2 Councilwoman Angelique Lee. The meeting was barely underway when the posse berated the Jackson delegation because some signed a letter to the Governor asking for help last Monday. You read that correctly. Pastor Pickett, Hondo, and Dr. Omari chewed out Jackson's State Senators for asking the Governor for help as the water treatment system completely failed. Remember when Dr. Omari chewed out the Jackson City Council? Apparently Dr. Omari and her partners in arrogance used the same playbook in this meeting. How dare they try to get help as Jackson businesses and homes went without water while what little water there was was undrinkable.
What drove their militancy? Apparently the Mayor's crew is expecting bushels of federal funds to make their way to Jackson to fix the water treatment system and don't want the state to have any say in how it is used. The Mayor even blamed the state at one point as he said the city was talking to a private management company to run the water plants but the company withdrew from negotiations because it was now talking to the state.
The meeting ended on a better note but it's rather interesting the Mayor brings these experts and allows them to engage with Jackson's legislators.
You can't make this up.
Kingfish note: It gets even better. The Mayor had a meeting with Congressman Bennie Thompson Thursday morning at 7:15 to discuss the water crisis. NAACP President Derrick Johnson attended the meeting with the Congressman. The Mayor said he had to leave after a few minutes because he was going to be on CNN at 8 AM. Needless to say, the veteran Congressman was not happy and that is putting it mildly, despite their happy faces the next day passing out water.

Is your account of this meeting corrborated by anything other than the one photo you have posted? You use very subjective terms like "chewed out" and "berated". I'd be curious to see for myself how these idiots comported themselves.
Lumumba is horrible but PhD Omari is a complete idiot. I’ve dealt with her before. She’s as dumb as they get. Not qualified except maybe had you your fast food at drive thru window
Word is Senator John Horhn and Antar are trying to privatize the water and get rich. Horhn should be ashamed of his self, trying to take advantage of poor blacks. The company already over Jackson water & sewerage. Antar 10% Horhn 10% Jackson 0%. Credell put the Lumumba & Horhn move in play. Credell and Horhn got Lumumba taking bus station money and spending it at Plantirum that state gave city. Nothing like Democrats that steal.
Wtf is a preacher in the room?
Wtf is hondo?
Wtf is these idiot's problem?
Did the senators take this crap from these idiots?
I would have walked out. This is beyond corrupt, but that's just our stupid mayor for you.
Crabs do not want another crab climbing out of the bucket.
YES this Mayor does NOT care about the citizens of Jackson or their health! If being on CNN is more important than getting these issues resolved then grow up and act like an adult. These constant temper tantrums of not getting your way are childish and do NOTHING for the people of Jackson. NO city in the UNITED STATES gets a blank check with no questions asked to use any way the Mayor sees fit; especially with 2 years under his belt & zero results! Thank you to those who chose to work & serve people ahead. Of their chance to be on a National News Channel! Shame on the media for showing false narratives of the truth! Please DO NOT Turn this water, trash or sewage back over to JACKSON. We are over hearing about it. Even Piney Woods students stepped up to serve!
What's it going to take to get Chokwe Antar Lumumba to resign as mayor?
Antar is a charlatan, a self-worshipper, and a fool. He solicited a few gullible ne’er-do-wells to prop up his long con that he was certain he could pull on Bennie and the rest of us. He banked on the most improbable of eventualities — that just maybe the rubber would never meet the road. It would. It has. He knows it and he knows we know it.
Now it’s pretty much wait and see how long it takes him to wrap his head around his self-implosion. It will occur in fits and starts. And it will be ugly .. his foolish pride will insist upon that. Right now he’s grappling with the very high likelihood that in a matter of days or a few short weeks he will be the butt of the nation’s ridicule and scorn. And, after all, his one true ambition has always been that the far-flung regard him as something he is not and will never be.
"Nobody elected you to shit!" I can't believe I just quoted Kenneth Stokes, but that really says it as far as Omari is concerned.
If Congressman Thompson really cares about local black people, and I believe he does, he needs to speak the truth about Lumumba and his crew. (Or maybe he already did)
you a damn lie jamie
You were awesome on Kim Wade, KingFish!
Joke-way seems to be an entire psychiatric residency in one mayorality.
God save Jackson from him and his followers.
Narcissism
Pride goes before destruction.
One of these days he is going to say some arrogant nonsense and someone higher up the democrat food chain is going to go full Will Smith on him on live TV. And make no mistake he is a punk and will be thoroughly humiliated.
7:13.....the answer is fed prison. Anything short of that will be sold as racism and will fall short. And if Pickett is in the room, you know it's a shakedown. So maybe fed will come sooner than later.
7:13 PM is America’s next top comic!!!
"What's it going to take to get Chokwe Antar Lumumba to resign as mayor?"
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Why would state senators sit there and take that? I find this hard to believe
The mayor is so in over his head it’s not even funny. Even when he tries to play the Boss Tweed corrupt political maestro, he fails miserably.
I can forgive so much in politicians—corruption, bad ideology, etc—just PLEASE be competent. That’s all I ask.
The Empire State Building was constructed in an insanely short period of time through equally insanely corrupt means. But they got it done.
We need someone who can just get shit done. This mayor is a joke.
Chowke is trying to pull a Jussie Smollett on the rest of the Nation.
I say from this point forward, we dub Chowke Antar as:
Jussie Jackson. Right.
This crew was disrespected. They will have their day.
So there is a private management company who can hire the 24 employees to run the water plants?
Bravo.
1. Jokeway’s sister is busy learning water management 101
2. Tate knows not to trust a crook with money
3. Suddenly Jokeway isn’t interested in millions of trash & when there’s now billions of water $
4. Bennie needs to hurry up and get Jokeway appointed to DC position
Free the Land in 2017
Flee the Land in 2022
Chokwe Lumumba and Lori Lightfoot are competing for the crown of worst mayors in America. Of course, Lightfoot is running a city into the ground with a population that is higher than the entire state of Mississippi. But she could always be Mayor of Dagobah in the next Star Wars show.
Imagine knowing you were one of the dumb supporters that actually contributed to Antard's campaign and cheered for this tyrant.
You morons could form a support group with the doofus timber investors to work through the pain of your gullibility.
Enjoy Jackson. You asked for it. You got it.
How many vehicles in that parking lot had "Clergy" either on a sticker or around the car tag?
If you think you're witnessing a shit-show NOW, just wait 'til he runs for (and is elected to) the office of Governor of the state.
I love how trying to privatize the water is an attempt to "get rich" and take advantage of "poor blacks" meanwhile failing to provide those same poor blacks with water is totally fine.
If you care more about the possibility of corruption--which is inevitable--than people getting access to clean water, you are a moron.
The good Rev is trying to make money. He is a prosperity preacher who ties himself to anybody who has power. His church is a fraud also.

I work with Stamps and he would put his foot in the mayors ass if he talked to him that way!
This is the worst collection of leaders a community could ask for! It's the blind leading the blind. They have all had power for so long, what does Jackson have to show for it?
Impotent white boy rage is sweet like ambrosia
6:29 thank you for pointing to the fact that our county commissioners have played a self-serving role in the results of poor government.
You also pointed out another sad truth these days, once brilliant and well educated people are not immune to mental illness or dementia or Alzheimer's. Sadly, these days, the media loves to quote them as political "examples" for both/either party. But, more frightening is that such people have been elected to office or are running for office...even some like Hershel Walker who actually self-diagnoses with the definition of Multiple Personality Disorder (which is very rare) as an excuse for his bad behavior. And, even in the media we have by legal documentation confirmed mentally ill person, Alex Jones. And some of you, for reasons known only to God, believed his paranoic fantasies.
The kindest thing I can think some days about some of those who comment here, is perhaps they suffer from the effects of lead and other contaminants that have leached into MS's drinking water.
county commissioners?
I think we have an out of state comment.
Talked to a Senator that was there. Said it as the dumbest thing he has been a part of. Total incompetence by mayor and staff. Said the mayor is borderline paranoid of image being put in the basement.
9:43 AM, if they really are worried about corruption the mayor is the first person to get rid of.
