Shaming the Fat-Pride

Bill Maher took on a subject no one wants to talk about Friday night: obesity.  Few say anything about the obesity crisis as no one wants to incur the wrath of the outrage mob.  Indeed, the Fat Pride crowd wants to rewrite science in Soviet style so they can hide the destructive nature of their behavior.  Check out what Maher had to say below.

What Maher says is true, unfortunately. Destructive behaviors must be celebrated, indeed, protected at all costs. Our leaders rarely mentioned obesity during the Covid-19 pandemic even though it is probably the leading factor in patient outcomes for those who contract the virus. Mississippi is the most obese state in America and had worse Covid-19 outcomes yet the Health Department never said a word - even though its own studies show 53% of black women are obese and 40% of Mississippians are fatties.

mar tells the truth.
its hard to believe he has not yet been censored off the airwaves.

I know from going to the beach every summer that more and more morbidly obese women are showing up in skimpy bathing suits. They wouldn't have done this even ten years ago. They either feel good about being fat or just don't own mirrors.

Bill must have visited one of many Walmarts in the great state.

I don’t often agree with Bill, but he’s spot on with this. We can do better. I did. Just by limiting breads and sugars I dropped 25 lbs, plus lowered blood pressure and heart rate. BTW, I’m 75.

I'm overweight by at least 15 pounds, so I have to be careful about saying anything too harsh about fat people, but Big Bill is saying what a lot of us have been thinking for years: there are too many fat people, as in obese and horribly obese. I just read in the WSJ that Japan has an obesity level of 3.7%. Italy 10%. USA 40%!

I loved the part about how science can't figure out what to do about obesity. Uh, guys, the science is the easy part; the hard part is cultural. Adele was gross. All praise to her for losing weight and trying to be a cultural icon who doesn't encourage people to blubber up. Lizzo is gross, and other cultural icons who have blubbered up as much as she has are gross. She wants us to believe she's proud to be a mass of fat. I don't believe her. More likely, she just doesn't want to pass on the cinnamon rolls and fried food. If she has a "medical condition," it is likely to be a life-threatening case of low will power.

One hears a lot about "freedom" around the country. Could we please recalibrate and focus on "responsibility"? The mantra is simple: Freedom brings responsibility. As the man said: "Eat food. Not much. Mostly vegetables."

Damn - if you are correct, KF, then I must have a hearing problem. I heard the Health Dept say ma pny times that obese persons were much more likely to suffer from COVID issues during the past two years. Granted, they didn't address how to solve the obese problem at that time - it was too late for most. There (we) were already obese and in danger of complications from COVID. But to say that the health department didn't say a word about it is kinda like Crawford - looking for something to blame on those folks you don't like (for Crawford, of course, it is Tate. Whatever he can talk about, its always Tater's fault. You don't seem to get along with the DOH too well, so here you go again pointing fingers, although in a much more subtle tone.)

Word. It begs the question "What in the hell is going on with these beautiful young women (and men)?" I'm a slim, fit, female senior citizen who is really tired of this bullshit narrative. Fat is not attractive nor is it "empowering." Attempting to normalize this behavior is an illness...the damage being done to our youth is unconscionable. Believe me, it is 10x more difficult to maintain your fitness at 60+. (I've battled it my entire life.)
Start today; it's never too late.
But hey, on the lighter side, the fatter the population gets, the thinner I look and the more motivated I am to work out and eat healthy.

wonder why there are no comments??
at least Mississippi is not last in the obesity category.

When Bill starts paying my health insurance premium, he can start telling me what to eat. Until then, bring on another plate of catfish and ribs.

Kingfish said...

Actually no, he didn't until I started pressing him about it at press conferences. Diet, exercise, and lowering weight rarely made his public recommendations on fighting covid.

Of course they don’t want to talk about obesity. They sold out the health of the country by doling out “eat more, move less” or “eat everything in balance” campaigns in order to line the pockets of the Big Food and Big Pharma corporations. Food is a about nutrition. Your body needs the nutrients from food more than it needs the calories. 100 calories from an Oreo doesn’t nourish the cells of your body. 100 calories of properly raised steak or a properly raised chicken will nourish the body but guess what you can’t put a steak in a box on a shelf. But you can make all kinds of shelf stable crackers, cookies, etc from corn, flour, sugar and processed oils like canola, crisco, sunflower etc. . Eat all this highly addictive junk food they tell you that you can eat in moderation but you can’t because it’s literally designed to get you to eat more of it, get sick from a state of inflammation caused by the junk food, then they send you to a doctor who will write you a prescription to treat the symptoms. Rinse and repeat until you die.

The at will never work here. Americans are too free. Remember e backlash when NY tried to tax large sodas as it was contributing to higher med costs for us all? Remember CDC suggesting we wear masks to slow/stop the spread of COVID? Remember how well that went with some. People will literally die for the freedom to be unhealthy and die fast.

KF - your hearing really must be bad, in that it only hears when YOU ask the questions.

I heard the obesity from the beginning as being one of the primary concerns that could lead to COVID or worse COVID. I'm sure I heard it because I am overweight, and over 65, with a pre-existing condition. Because I hit those categories, I heard it every time something was said. You, obviously, think only you have the answers so when you ask the question and it gets addressed, you hear.

Check the records - it was in every discussion about the concerns. But of course the problem was that those overweight were already there, and with the pandemic spreading, it was too late to start the dieting argument you are trying to make.

I’am amazed every trip to Walmart. Some are so obese they can hardly walk.

5:40 lol, I haven’t darkened the door of a Wal-Mart in about 7 years. Do yourself a favor and do the same, you’ll appreciate the outcome, trust me.

High fructose corn syrup.

Introduced to the US market about 1970.

Per capita consumption went from zero lbs per year to about 60 lbs per year in 2000.

HFCS consumption increases track with the increases in both obesity and diabetic conditions.

This is all by design. Few of the morbidly obese people will collect Social Security.

"its hard to believe he has not yet been censored off the airwaves."

He used to be on network TV but got cancelled after pissing off some group over something. That's why he's on cable now.

Don't ask me to get items from the upper shelves at Kroger while you drive around on an electric cart because you're too overweight to do do this for yourself. It wouldn't hurt one bit for you to walk a few steps & help yourself. I'll gladly help anyone truly disabled through no fault of their own.

There is nothing wrong with butter. The French eat it by the gallon and have some of the lowest incidences of heart disease of any developed nation in the world. Don’t blame the fat (natural fats) for what the sugar and processed foods did.

I love the fat women at Sam's riding along in their electric carts as they pick up their mashed potatoes, potato chips, soft drinks and such. Electric carts didn't exist until 10 years ago or so. And I love the waiting rooms now that have benches instead of chairs for the fat asses that can't control their eating.

7:32….
Didn’t u mean “weekly”, not “daily” exercise routine?
I got tired just reading your recommendation…:)

2 of more hours in a gym/track a day. Eat flavorless green veggies 7 days a week. Visit no bars or restaurants. Go to a movie and chew your finger nails. Birthday party drink water and lust for cake and ice cream. Enjoy your life and die happy or live for ever unhappy.

I’m overweight. By more than I like to acknowledge. He’s right.

Anonymous said...

I'm normal BMI and I have been for my entire life. Eat healthy, don't eat junk, don't drink anything with calories.

If you are disciplined and simply refuse to eat the bad stuff then it isn't that hard. I watch the "its due to my meds" crowd and they all eat a lot of stuff that never hits my mouth.

7:32 OCD guy -hell no. Low fat has been proven to be BS.

Cut out the sodas, processed food, excessive white flour, etc. nothing wrong with red meat, butter, even fried food occasionally. Nothing wrong with occasional dessert in SMALL portions. Put a reasonable amount on your plate, eat it, and STOP. Get a reasonable amount of exercise.

I am normal size and eat healthy at least 90% of the time, probably more. Folks in the “blue zones” aren’t starving themselves or doing a compulsive amount of exercise. Being non-sedentary and moving a lot is key. There are extremes in everything in life. I’m not walking around as a tub of lard, but I’ll not starve myself either.

I don't know KF is pretending the health department did not identify and emphasize the risk of obesity and smoking on Covid outcomes. I heard and read about it constantly since the beginning of the pandemic. The CDC stressed it as well. Later, both agencies warned about bad Covid outcomes for the unvaccinated. Everyone who had half a brain knew about the risk factors from early on.

As far as obesity goes, those people are disgusting and have no one and nothing to blame but themselves. You want to see some genuine hog slopping? Check out the folks who go on ocean cruises.

Cut out alcohol and you will lose weight.

@5:47
The regimen I showed @7:32 was to go from obese to normal. I have had the same weight for 25 years, normal BMI, so my daily regimen is less restrictive than if trying to lose 100+ pounds. If the obese person was young enough, I would suggest fasting as well, which a doctor needs to approve.

My friends: "I would do anything to look as fit as you."

Me: "Ok, then eat right and work out daily like I do."

My friends: "Well...anything...but not THAT."

It blows my mind how many fat women roll out of the car that their husband is driving as he drops her off at the front door. And of course circles the lot to pick her up when done. If you wont go to the gym, for the love of God...at least get some steps in an park and walk in the damn store.

Its not easy, but it feels good to be one of the rare folks in my age group that does not look like a whale. And literally anyone can join me and look the same. They simply choose to be fat. Its really that simple. No matter what Lizzo says.

You can take things to the extreme in both ways. Some people think a fat person looks bad. I feel the same way about skinny people. They look like they are sick. Need a few burgers. Look at the models working the runway. Skin and bones. Sure would hate to snuggle up to one of them.
There is a medium between the two. I like the medium.

We live in a society where everyone is told nothing is "your fault". Obesity is an illness which afflicts you, and it's not your fault, like alcoholism, gambling, and sexual perversion you should get a pass. So instead of doing something about your problem "they" should find some pill you can take to solve the problem. In the meantime don't be ashamed, it's not your fault.

Normalizing aberrant behavior is all the rage these days. Numerous studies have been trying to prove daily alcohol consumption promotes health. Those seeking to overthrow the government call each other "patriots." Fat women are featured in the SI Swimsuit Edition. Etc., etc.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
