Burbs Step Up to Help Jackson

The cities of Pearl and Gluckstadt issued the following statements.

Pearl

The City of Pearl, in partnership with Main Street Pearl and the Pearl Chamber of Commerce, is holding a bottled water drive for Jackson residents in their ongoing water crisis. The water system failure in the Capital City has left residents with no water.

We have two donation sites:

Pearl City Hall Lobby (8a-5p)
2420 Old Brandon Rd.

Pearl Chamber of Commerce (9a-5p)
110 Lonnie T. Jenkins Dr.

The Pearl Fire Department will deliver our first donations on Friday, Sept. 2.

Let's band together to help our neighbors in their time of need!

Gluckstadt

The City of Gluckstadt is partnering with Gluckstadt Madison Business Alliance to hold a bottled water drive to help our neighbors in the City of Jackson cope with the ongoing water crisis.

Please consider donating cases of bottled water or gallon jugs (unopened) to help provide residents clean water for drinking, cooking & hygiene purposes. Donations may be dropped off at Gluckstadt City Hall during regular business hours 8-5, M-F, through September 30th.

Please consider helping with this important cause and continue to pray for all affected by recent flooding in our capital city.

Kingfish note: Nice to see the Spacers help out. Thanks.

And chase the "neighbors" back into Jackson after they come over, get the FREE water and do Jackson stuff while in Pearl.

Good to see.

This is no different then handing a twenty dollar bill to a junkie. Y’all are just enabling them at this point.

Is there a box where someone can donate some Leadership? Water is great but it's not what they need most.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Jackson would help the surrounding areas if they were in need?

Only water provided east of 55!

I despise the criminal element in Jackson as much as anyone and I wouldn't give them a teaspoon of anything except maybe cyanide.

However, everyone except the criminals are in a real bind right now. Schoolkids, families, and
old people are at the mercy of transported water.

Let's give them a hand.

Rankin County is part and parcel of the problem. Wastewater Treatment is cheaper at scale. Building their own WWTP further destabilized funds for Jackson as Water and Wastewater Treatment are bundled services. City should sue Rankin County for repair costs of a facility they used for 30 years and walked away from. Also, I see people complaining about their water bills in Rankin County...it’s only just begun. You have multiple years of escalating bond payments kicking in that started this year. The next two years your debt service increases over 100%. Congratulation.

@11:58 AM Remember when Chowke sent 1,000s of masks to....China?

"I wonder if Jackson would help the surrounding areas if they were in need?"

Yes, keep believing that no one in Jackson has ever donated any money to any cause in the state. Get a grip, loser.

You sure you want to go there, Pappy? Let's go there, Sport Model.

Jackson was happy to take five to six million dollars a year from Rankin County and totally blowed off Rankin. Rankin County wanted a seat at the table to have some say in the how money was spent. Harvey told them hell no. In fact, Willie Bell, Lumumba's former PW Director (although unqualified) expressed Jackson's thoughts well as he got up at a City Council meeting during the Yarber admin and said Rankin was a customer but just a customer and should have no say in anything. In other words, Rankin was Jackson's bitch and should like whatever Jackson dished out. Then you had Ms. Pittman saying Rankin wanted to poison Jackson's water, friggin idiot she is.

Well, Willie, it's like this. Rankin is like Amazon. If Amazon gets fed up with Fedex or USPS, it can create its own delivery infrastructure. Well guess what, Rankin did.

Yarber made a last ditch effort. Actually, the Chamber did and set up a meeting between the Mayor and the WRUA Board members. Yarber came in 30 minutes late and was not that prepared either. The Board moved towards creating the plant, otherwise known as the Carl Ray Furr welfare project. In other words, Jackson did what Jackson does. Treat everyone else like crap and then act shocked there is a consequence.

The plant does not have the capacity to handle Jackson's wastewater and Rankin County's.

1209 - Rankin County building the West Rankin facility was a terrible investment, both for their ratepayers and for Jackson.

But - there is no money due to Jackson from Rankin for their use of the treatment facility for repair costs; they paid a monthly fee for the sewage they shipped across the river which adequately paid for the operation and maintenance of the plant. There is no damage to the facility that they walked away from that wasn't paid along the way. (The fact that Jackson might not have used the monthly payments appropriately to maintain the plant is another issue, but that is not Rankin's fault.)

The real fault lies at the feet of the current Mayor. Rankin would not have pulled its $3 million annual fee to the city for treatment of its waste IF the current Mayor had allowed them to be part of the team that oversaw management of the plant - if they had allowed them "a seat at the table". For two or three years, they discussed this with the city and Lumumba refused to even consider it, even at the urging of the folks in charge of the system within his administration. ONLY AFTER Rankin announced its intent to pull out did Lumumba decide that his screwing them was complete and he offered to allow them some input - but he had waited until after they had shot their wad and left

12:09, stop posting the same tired pathetic lie. Rankin sought to create its own plant, 11 years ago, in full accordance with the agreement with Jackson. Your copy pasta lie is getting old. Even though the racist kangaroo courts of Jackson and Hinds County are a joke, even they cannot sue Rankin for having leadership, foresight, and obeying the law. Sorry.

Rankin saw that Jackson DOES NOT follow the EPA laws, drawing massive fines, does not maintain its infrastructure, and was making a profit of 3 to 5 million dollars a year for increasingly crappy service off Rankin. That's laudable to fix, not illegal.

And your sad conspiracy that costs of service with REGIONAL partners have gone up ignores reality. Inflation. Look it up.

Folks in Rankin have a new plant, clean water, and great utilities. Jealous? Or just bitter?

Pathetic Pappy, try harder. Rankin, nor white folks, are part of Jackson's problem. They've had black mayors for 25 years, and that plant was built only 30 years ago at most, and a large part was built 20 years ago. However, maintenance and staffing with competent folks is a daily requirement for adult leaders.

Try to find some adults to hang out with or wait for the Federal GubMint to ship some to Chokwe.

Burbs should absolutely tell them to get their shit and return immediately.

@ 12:09pm -

Is there no shortage of victims in this friggin' city? If Rankin County's departure is "part and parcel of the problem", then it's because they were paying for other people's water, too. A reduction in the volume of water treated should have afforded the perfect opportunity to do any repairs and preventive maintenance required. But, the fact of the matter is that the city squandered funds, didn't staff appropriately, and didn't bill their citizens. It's called mis-management in some books, and criminal in others.

But they are free of Jackson Pappy, free at last!

Like on M.A.S.H. when they work on a North Korean soldier.

@1:00 PM
They didn’t send the North Korean back to his army healed up and loaded with provisions to fight and kill Allies, though.

12:21 immediately was 100% correct KF! People do not want to hear the truth! Your heart must be open just like asking Jesus into your live. KF you have done your job well good & faithful servant! I love & appreciate You!

@12:45PM, I would take it a step further and call it criminal mismanagement. And I hope to God that now that the State is involved it brings a level of oversight onto and investigation into the City of Jackson like they have never seen. I don't care if it's Shad, the AG, or whoever else. I just hope that the truth comes out and those who are directly responsible for these failures are held accountable. This whole situation is beyond pathetic.

Once again, out of the kindness of their hearts, decent white folks have to bail out those who cant even care for themselves. Reminds me of NOLA hurricane and flood disasters. Nope, BLM and Antifa are nowhere to be found, just some evil whitey Christians down there handing out food and drink at their own expense, risking life and limb, being in danger of attack from the feral forever needies they came to assist.

I wound not send a dime to Jackson.

I spent a fortune to move out of there.

Good riddance.

Don't know who the leaders in Rankin were at the time when they decided to do their own thing but they should be commended. Rankin paid its usage fee and the City of Jackson did not invest in their system.

I’m here to thank Pearl, Gluckstadt, and every helping hand we get. I’m a Jackson resident and I damn sure donated to the cause when Flint, Michigan’s citizens needed help. That’s what Americans do. The whole world watched then and they’ll watch now. This is potentially catastrophic, Flint on steroids. Bitch and hate. Or help. Does Chockwe need to be exposed? Absolutely. That is part of the solution.

Pappy is right. The people who fled the Titanic are the reason it sank.

How dare Rankin county! They should shut up and wasted years more money with no say so at all in the maintenance or hiring decisions!

And they should be suffering without water now too!

The nerve of those asshats for having common sense.

12:09 Bottom line is that Rankin saw the writing on the wall. It was clear that Jackson was now under the control of a culture that has NO concept of, or willingness to, maintain an orderly society, and Rankin didn't want to have to constantly be picking up the pieces. It was plain to see, because all you have to do is look at the operation of any other similarly-situated, democrat-run city. Just like the full sewers we have, it's eventually going to turn to shit.....and Rankin could see it coming! They had the resources, so they left, as any responsible entity should have.....

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
