15 parishes under mask mandate.
Lord Protector Tate Reeves issued the following statement.
Today, Governor Tate Reeves announced that he has extended his “Safe Recovery” executive order through December 11. It had been set to expire today.
The governor also reset his county-specific orders, using the applicable
data. The counties that now qualify for additional measures including
mask requirements are Benton, Carroll, Covington, DeSoto, Forrest,
Harrison, Humphreys, Jackson, Lamar, Lauderdale, Leflore, Lee, Marshall,
Rankin, and Yalobusha.
“I know that we are all tired and ready to move on. But the virus is
still here,” said Governor Reeves. “It’s still working to infect and
kill. We’ve gotten far better at dealing with it, and allowing for life
to go on. But we’re not all the way there yet. Keep fighting and
protecting the most vulnerable in your life. No matter where you are,
please do your best to social distance and wear a mask.”
Kingfish note: The Governor announced on Facebook yesterday that his daughter contracted the virus:
My youngest daughter just tested positive for COVID-19. She feels OK, but could still use prayers! Please pray for her momma too!Our entire family will be getting tested again and isolating for the time being. Stay safe, and God bless!

Where’s Madison County? There’s no way they fell under the threshold for a mask mandate. Unless of course everyone is “over it” and just aren’t getting tested anymore.
Everyone IS over it... big whoop. you get a little cold at worst.
I hops she gets well soon.
Call it what you want, but Tate Reeves nor Joe Biden will make me wear a mask. A lot of things may or may not happen, but "making" me wear a mask is not one of them.
Also saw a democrat by the name of John Alan Simmons on the Mississippi Politics page laughing and giddy at the fact that Tate's daughter caught it. I guess they are still the party of tolerance?
10:39. that is true for most. but we now have a hospital number record and the death rate is going back up. wear a mask to protect the vulnerable. it’s the least we can do for others.
Unfortunately, it isn't a little cold for everyone. My daughter has it, and she said she felt like she was run over by a truck the first few days. She is recovering ok, but she has no sense of taste or smell now. My brother also had it, and he also lost his taste and smell for a couple of weeks. He said the first few days, he never felt so weak or out of breath so easily in his life. He said his bouts with the flu were nothing like this.
I agree that we have to live our lives, but we can respect others by taking a few precautions.
I’m too macho to wear a face diaper and value my freedumbs over harming others. Fk all y’all, pass me a natty lite. MURICA
@10:39am - Yeah, 240,000 and counting Americans got a little cold. When one of your loved ones “gets a cold” and dies from it, then MAYBE you’ll understand. I doubt it though.
I understand the "not going to wear a mask" mindset and I don't like to be told what I need to wear any more than the next person. But have some empathy for those that want to minimize their possible exposure. You may not be worried about catching the cold, but the woman in line next to you wearing a mask may be really fearful of getting sick, may have exacerbating health conditions, may be taking care of a vulnerable family member or just don't want to be one of the statistical anomalies and show up as a death. This is really no different that you choosing to bathe and wear deodorant so you don't offend other people. Think of it as just doing the right thing rather than being told what to do. Help your neighbor.
@11:05, wow, tough guy. Dumb guy too.
10:39 and 11:05 - Nurse here. It's A LOT more than a cold for some, and it is VERY real. Be considerate of others and wear the mask.............
That Eastover Halloween party . . .
@1:07..10:39 here. I never said I don't wear a mask.
I’m a senior citizen and have lost my sense of taste and smell over the years many times with the common cold! Why is it a big deal now?
Rumor has it that Madison County Schools are about to shut down from all the outbreaks from all the must have sportsball teams. Going to be a long fall and winter. It’s just a cold though right, who cares.
Hattiesburg is reporting that most of its cases are being traced to outside counties, such as Jones, Perry, Stone, and Marion. The "stopping at the county line" theory for CV19 may not be valid. Time for a state-wide face mask mandate.
Sorry to read that Reeves's daughter has CV19. Prayers sent for a full recovery for her.
Yall keep forgetting Tater went to Millsaps.
10:39 AM are you really that isolated from facts or are you just stupid? This virus kills.
And 11:05 you and your kind are the super spreaders, still crying because somebody took your toys or "made you" go to your room! Grow up!
I hope the governor's child doesn't have severe symptoms and recovers soon.
"Yall keep forgetting Tater went to Millsaps."
I don't give a rat's ass where Tate went to school, what fraternity he pledged, or what his current policies may be.
I only hope his little girl is OK.
I'm sure she will be fine, but to make a political issue over a lil' kid's medical issues is too much . . .
Sound like more Americans that don’t have any resolve. lol y’all are so weak. Just wear the damn mask.
People bitch about wearing a mask and act all tough about it, but those same people Back The Blue and slavishly obey all the speed limits. I’m a hell of a lot more inconvenienced by not being able to get someplace faster than I am by wearing a mask.
Tate: Piecemeal approaches do not work for a virus that knows no boundaries. Reimpose the statewide mask mandate for the sake of the State's health until at least a vaccine is widely distributed.
We are all going to be exposed to it at some point. Hope yalls antibodies are in good shape.
6:13: Thise of us wearing masks should be protected.
Why not mask mandate for susceptible populations only? Elderly or have multiple co-morbidities or obese... damn guess that would be 90% of the adults in this state!
11:05 here. I haven’t been in a group setting since March. Haven’t spread a thing. Just because I refuse to wear a mask doesn’t mean I’m not smart about it. Order everything online and pick up. I’m careful but not basing my life off someone telling me how I have to live. I’m smart enough to think by myself, but thanks for the ASSumptions. It reiterates my thoughts that the majority of people can’t think for themselves.
Cool 11:05/10:01, Iam sure that is easy for you, since no mask wearing person would want to be around you any way.
Chappelle was spot on.
The virus just doesn’t magically go away. It’s here to stay. If you are susceptible, stay away from crowds. Don’t pen others down who are healthy.
so... where would be be now if no one had ever put a mask on back in march? cleary, masks are not having the effect folks thought they would, or we wouldn't still need them. are we going to be expected to wear them forever?
