So he was indicted last year for car jacking yet.....wait for it....he was on the street? Is car jacking legal medicine now like marijuana?
"So he was indicted last year for car jacking yet.....wait for it....he was on the street?" Indictment is not convicted. He was eligible for bond regardless of amount given. Bond/Bail does not mean angelic behavior does it. His next step would have been plea or trial, but where he stood with that is unknown from this article. As blood thirsty as it appears many are, the system is the best we have and God Forbid you get arrested, you'd want out to build a defense which is what bond is about.
Please give the shooter a big "thank you" from this taxpayer.
He was entitled to that jacked car, because carjacking is a subsection of Section 8.
@11:35...Do you know who is really responsible for the numerous years ramp up in Carjscking?...other than the criminal?
Insurance Companies....because of stolen auto claims, the insurance companies put pressure on the manufacturers to make it harder & harder to steal a vehicle. And for a while, the criminals kept up with the technology. From hot wiring, to poping ignition locks. Then came the electronic theft deterrent systems & the early versions could be bypassed or fooled. A lot harder now, programmed chips in keys that allow the vehicle to start, so a thief must have the key. Now the easiest way to steal a car is with a gun. Unfortunately, the consequences from the insurance companies pressure resulted in assaulted/dead car owners.
If you want to SEE rampant Carjacking...check out Anton Koen, a No-Jack operative in South Africa. They get immediate notice of a vehicle equipped with their device & respond as such, with automatic weapons. Stolen Vehicles aren't very high on the SAP priority list so private anti-hijacking units are common. He posts video of their chases & recovery. Even some Pizza delivery Mopeds have the device.

If the car owner had insurance, then it's not carjacking, it's reparations, according to BLM.
11:35 - probably a good thing he was on street. If he had been incarcerated he would still be alive. Think that sounds cruel? It was meant to be. I'm tired of this crap.
12:10 that indictment was a year and a half ago. So I guess there has been no trial speedy trail process. But no bother, he ain’t gonna make dat trialZ now no howz.
@12:43. Wow. A cursory "other than the criminal" followed by a lengthy sermon on why someone OTHER THAN the criminal is responsible for the criminal's actions. God help us that people like you don't become our decision makers.
I think they have become our decision makers.
@12:43 PM - I never considered the unintended consequences of hi-tech theft prevention devices causing more jackings. Makes sense.
In spite of this technology, idiot and very IRRESPONSIBLE car owners still leave their hi-tech cars UNLOCKED, with valuables and often FIREARMS available to the thieves, but still call it "break-ins." It's not a "break-in" if it ISN'T LOCKED.
This means you people living in REUNION!
If he previously committed a crime, then he should be murdered according to the right.
@2:52 PM - Darwin lives in Jackson.
" If he previously committed a crime, then he should be murdered according to the right."
Capitol punishment is not murder.
It's been an extremely successful method to reduce crime in many Arab Countries for hundreds of years.
Same in the Soviet Block nations until their collapse back in the 1990s.
Steal a bucket of camel milk in Saudi Arabia . . . and you might have your hand cut off.
Do it again and I doubt you'll see the next day.
I have three very effective ant-hijacking devices in my vehicle at all times that I am in it. One is manufactured by Glock, one by Ruger and one by Smith & Wesson.
@4:23. I am quite sure your anti-hijacking devices are equal to, or superior to the hijacking devices made by the same companies that suddenly, usually under surprise, are being pointed at you through a window. Then again, you may be driving with one of your anti-hijacking devices already deployed, then it is 35/65. They will always have the drop on you.
" They will always have the drop on you " .
These trolls are funny as Hell.
None of these little ones have ever handled a BB Gun.
And now they are experts on the basics of self defense tactics.
Still laughing is not the proper word.
Years ago the company I worked for had a deal with a Saudi company, and some of their guys came to one of our facilities to view operations first-hand. The head guy on the team was an engineer and spoke excellent English, and I had the chance to spend considerable time with him. During a conversation about the penalty for theft where he was from he noted that you NEVER see anyone with both hands missing, so maybe the punishment at least inhibits repeat offenses.
Maybe they should put pallets of guns on the street corners like antifa does bricks, eventually perhaps some of the criminals would reduce the population of the other criminals to more manageable levels.
If I was driving through surface streets in Jackson I'd have my anti-hijack device in my lap, and wouldn't be all that hesitant about shooting someone approaching the car. It is what it is.
@5:07 PM
4:23 PM here,
Ask the good Dr. that was carjacked on Ridgewood Rd. a year or two ago what saved his life as well as his wife's. She was at home and the perps were headed there to get her. I'll take my chances defending my life as well as my family's.
By the way, awareness of your surrounding and being aware of anyone approaching gives you the advantage. That's why people, especially ladies, need to put down their cell phones and observe what others in the vicinity are doing. I know more people who have prevented themselves being carjacked by being armed and aware than armed people who have been shot because they were armed.
Question: "Do you know who is really responsible for the numerous years ramp up in Carjscking?...other than the criminal?"
Answer: Yes. No one.
To follow up on the statement at 2:52(#1) that "It's not a "break-in" if it ISN'T LOCKED: Yes, it is. The name is of the crime is "burglary of an automobile."
"Every person who shall be convicted of breaking and entering, in the day or night, any . . . automobile . . . with intent to steal therein, or to commit any felony, . . . shall be guilty of burglary, and imprisoned in the penitentiary not more than seven (7) years."
Miss. Code Ann. § 97-17-33(1).
"State proved the 'breaking' element because the victim testified that he witnessed defendant in his truck without permission, and photographs of the truck and the open windows were published to the jury." Fontenot v. State, 287 So. 3d 322 (Miss. Ct. App. 2019). "The Mississippi Supreme Court has defined '[a]ctual breaking' as 'any act of force, however slight, 'employed to effect an entrance through any usual or unusual place of ingress, whether open, partly open, or closed.''"
To Recap: There was a fatal shooting and someone was found suffering. Were these the same person? Was there a succumbation?
9:02 PM - you are wearing out your fingers typing in vain. I am retired LEO (21-years). I was speaking in a general sense, not a statutory sense.
"Breaking" as in a forceable entry, vs. an unlocked door.
You missed my point, but then you probably live in the unicorn section of Madison County, i.e. Reunion.
Car jacking, as well as most other crimes are the sole responsibility of society. We place such high value on appearances and keeping up with each other that it destroys self-concept when some are in the losing lane from the outset with no way to keep up - other than turning to a life of crime. If society didn't push such competition among people, there would be no crime.
It's the same with school uniforms. They exist for one reason...so children don't feel 'less than' and feel pushed to keep up, and develop a negative self concept when they can't. This is the only reason people steal things. They're not bad people or 'less than'. They're reacting to the negative demands of our society. Do I get some sort of award for this bullshit sarcastic post with which at least a fourth of you were in agreement?
2:52(#1)/9:09 a.m., I got your point, which is that people should lock their cars, and also that you have some sort of grudge against people that live in Reunion (where I don't live).
My points were two: 1) The responsibility for a crime lies with the criminal (notwithstanding the materialism and deriving of one's self-worth from favorable comparisons with others, for which 10:44 blames society).
2) Opening an unlocked car door and entering the vehicle to steal something is in fact, legally speaking, "breaking and entering" an "automobile, i.e., the crime of burglary of an automobile.
I periodically take it upon myself to correct what I see as bad legal advice posted in the comments on this site, using citations to the law. Thankfully, I'm not the only one who does that, and I frequently learn from others who know more than I. No personal offense was intended.
Generally speaking, you've got 270 days after indictment to bring a person to trial. This whole "speed trial" thing seems to work very well in 81 counties.
Nothing in the Constitution demands, encourages or even mentions a right to a speedy trial...only a fair trial.
"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury . . . and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense."
U.S. Constitution, 6th Amendment.
"Car jacking, as well as most other crimes are the sole responsibility of society."
Nope.
It's not a societal issue in the least.
Good parents will teach their children (right from wrong) no matter their income.
"so children don't feel "
Lord have mercy, there's that worn out Left emotional "feelings" excuse again.
Que the Morris Albert music.
