Rude and cynical comments about a group of ladies trying to improve Jackson in 3... 2... 1...
lol... Just lol...
@1:44
You assume KF doesn't censor negative comments about his pet posts.
HINT: he does. This dude has zero integrity
Yup. I have none.
Actually, there are 8 I haven't approved on this one. Just a bunch of comments trashing a reputable volunteer organization. Comments that do not take issue with what they do but instead just trash them. Some even made comments about their looks. Not approving them. It's my website and you don't have a fundamental right to comment on it.
As someone who has seen firsthand all the good these ladies do for our community, thanks for the troll patrol, Kingfish.
Hardest working group of ladies I know. Jackson is lucky to have them!
These ladies get more done In Jackson than any other public or private enterprise. Keep it up Ladies we appreciate you'll
Kingfish wrote the book on pandering.
Great group of women who do great work in our community. Shame so many people rush to tear down.
If Tate turned over the State's budget to JLJ, we'd no doubt have the most plush coffers in the country. These ladies get it done.
Old Jr League joke: So what group do the ladies graduate to after Jr League? Senior League
Agreed 3:54.
I've never understood the hostility directed by some toward the Junior League of Jackson .
They are fine organization that have always been been working hard to make at least a few little innocent Jacksonians have a happy Christmas.
What happens to these kids in the future, no one knows. But the Junior League of Jackson puts smiles on baby's faces.
I can't understand why anyone has a problem with that.
These ladies don't have to do this, but they want to.
I find it hard to trash anybody who is only trying to help the situation, improve the city, etc.
You are either part of the problem, or part of the solution. These ladies can be considered part of the solution.
How about a list of accomplishments...precisely how are they improving Jackson?
Concrete results please, not just programs (or progrums for those of you in Niknar) and events.
Great job ladies. Thank you for your volunteerism. The community is blessed by your participation.
What’s the date of Mistletoe?
Jyl has done much good for a long time
This must be about the only reputable group of volunteers left. In Jackson that is.
At 5:28 my wife is a former JLJ member and nothing but positive things to say. It’s a big commitment for members. Some members rock babies in the NICU, they provide backpacks
And school supplies to children in need,
What do they do? Not even touching an exclusive list, just ones I know about: Ronald McDonald House landscaping and room make overs (doing the work themselves); Children’s Museum ( again, putting in labor and money effort),many area children’s initiatives (weekend food backpacks for example), tutoring, Rocking babies at the hospital. They do Mistletoe and Touch-A-Truck to raise funds to do these things. They work long hard hours at Mistletoe, inside and out, and if you’ve not been involved at Mistletoe, you can’t imagine what hard work it is - actual manual labor, not to mention working in those crowds, keeping a good attitude and smile befitting a JLJ member. They not only put in the required hours but also the required money every year. All volunteer.
I hear nah-nah from folks but it’s almost always catty remarks from catty people who secretly wish they could be a JLJ member. JLJ members are THE most dedicated, hard-working, caring group of women I’ve ever worked around (no I am not nor have I ever been a member). The city of Jackson is blessed to have such a large dedicated group of women who actually put in the hard work and look for projects where they can make a real difference.
I can't say enough good things about the JL ladies and their contributions to Jackson and this entire area. Probably the best comment I can make about the JL of Jackson is this: If you want something that seems impossible to accomplish, simply turn it over to this group. It will get done and done right. For heaven's sake, don't turn over difficult projects to a bunch of us men.
Since when are comments about the ladies’ looks off limits here? This blog used to encourage that sort of thing. I guess KF is worried about #metoo now?
@ 5:28
Many of these ladies live in NE Jackson and do a huge amount of good for Jackson.
@5:28 - Do your own homework -- here's their website: https://www.jljackson.org/about/
While you're there, consider making a donation.
@ 5:28
Too many to list all. But you could start with the the JLJ initiating the campaign to build the Children's Cancer Center at UMMC, then single handedly creating the MS Children's Museum (now expanding to Meridian), numerous literacy projects across Jackson, numerous partnerships with JPS, Mission First, Boys and Girls Clubs, Batson Childrens, multiple other projects at UMMC, backpacks of food for JPS kids/families in partnership with Mississippi Food Network, G.R.A.C.E at Methodist Childrens Home, grief support at McClean Fletcher Center, $thousands$ in community assistance funding annually, etc, etc.
The JLJ has had a greater positive impact on the Jackson area than any other volunteer organization, ever. Those women tirelessly and selflessly dedicate thousands of hours each year and have been doing so for many decades. They are a part of the solution!
What have you done @ 5:28? Concrete results please.......
@5:28, While the previous link is a good one, head to this online pdf - https://www.jljackson.org/wp-content/uploads/24282_JLJ_Matters2019-web.pdf - scroll down to page four, and look at the infographic. (Figures are from 2018-2019. The 2019-2020 annual report will be released later this year.) Some that stand out: 923 children impacted by JLJ summer projects; 608 NEW uniform pants and shorts donated to JPS students (that number was more than 1000 last fall); 5,400 backpacks filled with food for students to take home on weekends/holidays; 480 backpacks filled with school supplies; $2.8 million in grants awarded to other non-profits since 2013 - and the list goes on. They've also given millions of dollars to Blair E. Batson and the Mississippi Children's Museum, not to mention supplying volunteers for those organizations for decades.
If women sued and won and now can get into the formerly all male Rotary Club, why can men NOT get into the Junior League? A man in California sued to be admitted, and lost in court. Double standard on steroids.
A fine group of ladies. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
They not only donate millions to the children’s hospital, they are the very reason we have a children’s hospital. It was one of
their signature projects. They are the reason we have the children’s museum. Another signature project all while working on the multiple
projects mentioned above. They work countless hours for free with a smile on their face and love in their hearts. I am proud to say that I was one of them for eight years. (Yes, it’s an eight year commitment). You want something done? They will get it done!
My above comment should have said children’s cancer center at the children’s hospital.
