Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at approximately 4:15 p.m. Rankin County Interstate Interdiction Task Force Deputy Decell conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan passenger car on Interstate 20 for a traffic violation.
During the traffic stop the deputy suspected the vehicle was transporting drugs and/or contraband. A consensual search revealed over 5 pounds of cocaine, 90 pounds of marijuana and THC candy hidden inside the vehicle. A field test of the cocaine shows the presence of Fentanyl along with the cocaine. All of the drugs confiscated will be sent to the MS State Crime Lab for testing.
The driver Denarrio SINGLETON was placed under arrest for aggravated trafficking and transported to the Rankin County Jail. District Attorney Bubba Bramlett will bring Singleton before Rankin County Court Judge Kent McDaniel for an initial appearance. No Bond has been set at this time.
Kingfish note: No cash was seized.

Thanks for reminding us of the type of freedoms that we are denied. Thankfully cigarettes and liquor are legal. Glad that the gubment is keeping itself busy making some chemicals legal while others are not.
They forgot to photo the cash, though.
Simply amazing how they manage to hit the right car.
Hey 9:40 - freedom does not mean you are free to break the law!
@10:27 - they generally receive an anonymous tip. It isn't just luck.
By law, drug mules are not allowed to carry cash. Only drugs and guns.
Consensual search my foot. I’m certainly not condoning fentanyl-laced products— those idiots should be jailed. But I guarantee there was no
probable cause to search and no consent. It’s just their word against the cops. And in Rankin County, cops gonna win.
If the cop says "do you mind if I take a quick look" and the driver says "okay" then it is consensual. Law enforcement then has the right to do a full and complete search.
You people want and expect to live under the blanket of protection provided by the men and women in law enforcement but you also want to tear them apart when they do their job well. Most likely a K-9 alerted on the vehicle and I'm pretty sure Sheriff Bailey has his cars equipped with onboard cameras. Not only to monitor his deputies actions but to protect them from accusations made by people who have little or no information and weren't even there at the time of arrest. Good Job deputy.
The term consensual is usually associated with a different activity. But I guess technically you are correct.
I can not believe that these people agree to having their car searched.
1:06, They think if they give consent the officer will think they are ok and not search. Drug mules are NOT the brightest bulbs on the string.
9:40, I hope none of your kids die from exposure to fentanyl. It is certainly a chemical and it will damn sure kill you.
This is the big one fellas. I expect Trump to join Rankin officials to declare victory on the war on drugs. It’s been a rough few decades, but the finally did it. Expect crime rates to plummet and greatness to return to America!
"I can not believe that these people agree to having their car searched."
The alternative might be to stand there for a few hours in a strange town/state/country while the car and its contents get impounded until a search warrant is issued. The driver may know what is inevitable and just want to get the process going.
Why would one just stand there for a few hours?
And why would the vehicle get impounded?
WRONG JJ LAWYER AT 9;04.........law enforcement has 15 minutes after a stop to obtain probable cause for a search if consent is not given. you dont get a search warrant in 15 minutes. that takes alot longer. thats why LEOs hate search warrants. they would rather go for root canal work.
to 9:04..... dont quit your day job. you won't make it as an attorney.
