Jackson will never recover without tthe voting population changing who they put in office and without them convicting those brought to trial...they are too busy believing they just need to keep the right black folks in office and feeling sorry for the criminals because they had a bad upbringing

A very sad day for Jackson. This is the response to a week of multiple murders? The city council and the JPD leadership are regurgitating the same garbage from years past. The same bad ideas, and the same lack of experience will produce the same results. The crime rate in Jackson has nothing to do with the open carry law. I will bet my retirement that not one single murder suspect was openly carrying a firearm when they shot and killed someone. Stop deflecting city leaders. Just admit you’re doing a shitty job and find qualified people to fix the problem.

In 30 years of law enforcement I have never witnessed such a gross lack of leadership ability within a department as I have seen at JPD in the last year. The speech given by the Chief and Deputy Chief was so awful I don’t know where to begin. Did either of you prepare more than 5 minutes prior to the meeting? Do you really think either of you placed one solid solution to the problem on the table? When you lay your head on your pillow at night are you simply satisfied with your title and paycheck or do you sincerely believe you tried to come up with a solution to the problem that day? So this is your idea? Under your “ PERVIEW “ you are in the preliminary stage (meaning you just thought of this idea today) of recruiting college students (been suggested by previous leaders and didn’t work) but first you need “ INCENITIVES” to offer the students to throw away their education to work for an under qualified poor excuse of a leader such as yourself. Only two things were accomplished during the meeting. Who can appear to be the least qualified for the job and who can come up with the worst idea ever. Even if somebody already tried it.

Does the police department have a gang unit? There's no talk about targeting gang members, although there seems to be a gang for nearly every block in the city.

STEAM Centers. What is that? Are they trying to say STEM centers? That is the term for Science, Technology, Education, Math. These people are beyond clueless. Just who do they think will go to these centers? They don't even attend the JPS classes. Total liberal bullshit, but let's ask (extort) some money from teh state. First it was $4 million, now Baby Choc says it was $5 million. But, who's counting?

Instead of trying to find grant money to fund a real-time crime center boondoggle, why doesn't Jackson use the state fusion center - they do very much the same kind of work and they're located right in Pearl? Leadership within the Jackson Police Department is awful. Officers are leaving daily and the leadership lies about the number of officers patrolling. The command staff consist of recycled losers with no clue. They want tell the public that there are less than 25 Detectives working cases such as, homicides, rapes, auto thefts, missing persons, property crimes and so on. They want tell the public that the commander and deputy chief of investigations are dummies and have no clue and direct the detectives to make false arrest just to say they made an arrest. Theses cases are dismissed daily.

The meeting at city hall was just a dog and pony show. No real solutions were suggested and no plan to implement anything. Just s bunch of hot air. Jackson needs a makeover and a serious one. The city will PowerPoint you to sleep while, businesses are being robbed and people are killed daily. Jackson deserves better and should demand better.

Your absolutely right. Detroit has rebounded and more whites have moved into Detroit and DC than any cities in America. Huge money rebuilding Detroit. Gentrification all over the place. Same way people compare Chicago to Jackson. Hell, Chicago is 21% black as opposed to Jackson. Bottom line is this... people on here know very little about other places.

People on here may not know a lot about other places but we can recognize a hopeless situation like Jackson. It's citizens seem to have made a conscientious decision that they want exactly what we're seeing right now. Whites will either have to abandon the place all together or take it over but it's status now is temporary and the place will probably continue to deteriorate. Chokeonhischicken is totally interchangeable with the leaders of most of the third world African shitholes. What a charlie foxtrot.

Jackson is like an addict; it won't improve until after it hits absolute bottom, just like in Detroit.

Re: Luckytown closing - Beer is 90-95% water so it is vital to your production. When the city goes days or weeks with no water or boil water notices it will affect your ability to make your product. Luckytown has also had a few cases of where they had to pull product off shelves due to issues with infections or cans literally bursting. Was it the water’s fault, bad yeast, or just overall brewing process issues is unknown. The fact is no small craft breweries know crap about retail. LT managed to distribute out of state and their product could be purchased at Walmart - so they at least figured things out to an extent.
The fact is the brewery business is tough. The 3 tier system in MS sucks and the distributors can make or break you. Then add MS Brewers Guild which is a sham to make a greedy lawyer more money and this is an expected outcome. Expect other smaller breweries to close down, but LT was definitely at a bigger scale than most in the state.

I'm simply speaking in terms of demographics and changes. Chicago demographics are nothing like city of Jackson. Less than 23% black and all the crime is in South side. Mainly due to gang turf war.
