Tate Raises nearly $2 Million.

The Tate Reeves for Governor campaign issued the following statement .
Today, Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves announced that he has successfully raised $1,740,139 to finance his upcoming gubernatorial campaign. The year’s fundraising efforts bring his total available funds to $6,745,136 heading into the 2019 election. 86% of the donations came from Mississippi.

“People from across Mississippi are supporting this campaign to send a message: Mississippi values matter. We’re not going to let them get replaced with the liberal agenda of politicians like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Jim Hood,” said Lt. Governor Reeves. “The best way to protect our values is solid conservative leadership from the governor’s office, and I’m grateful to everyone who contributed some of their hard-earned paycheck to that cause.”

That's a lot of quid pro quo.

Wow, that is sad. Imagine what $2M could go towards instead. Also, does it really work to put Pelosi, Schumer and Hood in the same sentence? Does anyone really believe that they are even remotely tied to this election? And who decided that Tater is the authority on Mississippi's values?? I really hope Hood gives Tater a run for his money.

Other than being a R ,there is no good reason to vote for him. I guess in today's world that is good enough.

Hood is still more conservative than Tater. Tater has wrapped himself in the GOP for too long and has forgotten what it even means to be a Republican. Screw MS Values, how about just being an American? Is that good enough?

Anonymous said...

Hey, Tater. So should we start hyphenating our names as a Mississippian-American??

Anonymous said...

Having "values" as the cornerstone of your platform is a joke. I think people care more about Mississippi jobs, education, safety, etc. Let the values take care of themselves. Or, perhaps you should try to appear on the cover of Garden and Gun if you are interested in people's personal lives that much.

I'm not even sure what "conservative leadership" means anymore when I hear a Mississippi politician say it, but I'm pretty sure it's what we've been doing for quite a while now and we're still dead last in everything, and lagging behind neighboring states growth. Aside from being a good, strong, God-fearing, family values, conservative, American who can show those folks in Washington a thing or two!, what is it that Tate, et al. will actually do to make a positive difference in the lives of everyone in this state? And "I'll support Trump" or "I'll fight Trump" is not a plan.

Sorry Tate still ain’t voting for you. One because of your attitude. Second because of the “money” backing you...

Anonymous said...

You’ve got to wonder exactly what they are buying for 1.7 million. Obviously companies aren’t handing out those checks for free.

2019 will be one for the record books of politics in MS. And Tate would be better off donating his war chest to the state for a tax-free year for MS taxpayers instead of spending it on TV ads showing his face with a bunch of mousy dialogue.

I find endless amusement in the fact that this red faced dimwitted doughboy will rise to the highest office of this state. Did I say amused? I mean embarrassed.

Anonymous said...

Now he can self-finance his own subdivision road! Won't be voting for him, Robert Foster has my vote. He might not win, but never will I vote for Lord Tater.

Anonymous said...

That is an absolute shit-ton of money for a governors race. There is going to be voter fatigue if he does too many commercials. That press release about MS values is dumb. It must work or he wouldnt keep saying it but thats like when people run for city council and talk about abortion rights. State and federal politics are two different things.

Anonymous said...

Better start them $20 handshakes soon....

Anonymous said...

Hood's filing today showed just over $1M in the bank a/o December 31. He better get busy!

Anonymous said...

Can't stand the boy but ain't voting for a Dem...period. Anyone who has seen what Dem party has turned into in the last decade and still puts a (D) behind their name is a rotten, America hating, socialist POS.

Anonymous said...

This is not a site filled with liberals or Ds so this reaction to Tate is not a good showing for him. The poor State of Mississippi is in real trouble.

Anonymous said...

I'm supporting Tate because he's the most conservative candidate for the job. Those of you calling Hood conservative are either Democrats or delusional, but I repeat myself.

Anonymous said...

I am truly surprised at how many people dislike Reeves. He will need a lot of money to overcome the negative opinion so many have.

@ 4:27 - "Conservative Leadership" in this state means the following-

You are against the federal deficit and growing debt but you ARE for federal grants, bailouts, handouts, donations, kickbacks, non repayable loans or freebies the Feds will send to the state.

You are for small government period. Unless it is one of the departments responsible for getting you your money (see above) or you have relatives, girlfriends or donors who need a job or need to increase their stake in PERS.

Conservative Leadership frowns on entitlements or "liberal" spending. They truly despise any type of welfare unless it is the corporate type. They give freely of others money to developers, shopping centers, convention centers and job scam artists.

Beating ones chest on a frequent basis and declaring "I have done this for you" is also a signature of the conservative leadership in Mississippi.

Tater Tot SUCKS! Is that really the best the GOP can put up to bat?

Anonymous said...

Are there any non-politician, Kirk Fordice-types out there who might be a realistic candidate?

Anonymous said...

As a lifelong Georgia resident, I'd sure like to know what these Mississippi values are that this guy wants to protect. Please write them down and publish them so that we can send them to Florida. Die Gators!

Anonymous said...

Of course people are donating money to Tate, everyone know he only works for his donors. It's a good investment.

Anonymous said...

So when Tate becomes governor will MDOT build a bridge from the mansion to the Chick Fil A in Dogwood Festival? You know, to relieve traffic congestion.

Anonymous said...

Hood is still more conservative than Tater.

If you can stop sanding that rope for a few minutes list the issues on which Hood is more conservative that Reeves.

Anonymous said...

Hmmmm. Tater controls the Senate with iron fist and decides what bills will go to the floor for a vote (and he controls the votes). And SHOCKER, he's raised more than any other candidate? Quid pro quo, perhaps?

Sounds a lot like when Hillary was Secretary of State and the Clinton Foundation had record "contributions" while she was in office and running for president.

Anonymous said...

He could have built his own road with that kind of money.

Anonymous said...

Not sure I could ever cast a vote for Reeves. Maybe a couple of fish fries and a backpack full of school supplies could sway me.

Anonymous said...

Republican here. Not voting for Tater. GOP better find someone else!

Anonymous said...

JJ is infested with trolls KF.

Anonymous said...

@ 10:24 No need. There is a Chick-fil-a in the Regions building right near the mansion.

Anonymous said...

6:06 pm. You are what is keeping MS at the bottom. Of Everything but being the fattest, most ignorant and most corrupt. I will be canceling your vote out.

Anonymous said...

@10:08

You and I both know the real reason Mississippi is last in so many categories and we also both know it won't be candidly discussed here. Your choice is socialism and total dependence on the government mine is capitalism and freedom. I strongly suspect both of our votes will reflect our current life styles.

Anonymous said...

NEVER TATER!!!!

Anonymous said...

"Mississippi values" is a dog whistle if there ever was one. These so-called values will continue the state's brain drain and status at the bottom , which the powers-that-be want and enjoy. They know those leaving the state are their only challengers to the status quo.

Anonymous said...

Hey look! All the politicos who frequent this site 5x a day, and who probably make a living based off decisions at the capitol, hate Tate! Who would've thought?

Meanwhile, the average voter out there doesn't know a damn thing about your bill that died, or your funding that got pulled, or the fact that you rely on government money to fund your business. The average voter will know two things:

1. Tate Reeves is the conservative, and he will have 8 million dollars to make him look like Elvis.

2. Jim Hood is the Democrat... of the party who believes in killing babies at 11 months and denies God.

Any questions?

Anonymous said...

@1:29

Uh you left out open borders, socialize medicine and free everything for everybody but hey... baby killing alone may do the trick so we'll roll with that. Hood can either legitimately distance himself from the Democratic party disaster or lose....his choice.

Anonymous said...

What do you geniuses mean by open borders? If you mean uncontrolled access, name one Democrat who has supported.

Anonymous said...

@2:19, generalization is ignorance in disguise.

Anonymous said...

Hood should switch parties and run as a Republican. I can’t vote for either of these guys at this point. State GOP needs to get its head out of the sand. Reeves will lose. Find a better candidate.

Anonymous said...

Anyone but Tater!

It's simple VOTE Foster.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
