Here They Come

It should come as no surprise that State Senator Terry Burton's 2nd Offense DUI arrest would not go unnoticed in his district. Tyler McCaughn issued the following statement.

Tyler McCaughn qualified to run for District 31’s Senate seat on January 3, 2019. “Representing the citizens of District 31 over the last 11 years in my law practice has been a privilege and I look forward to continuing this service in the Mississippi Senate”, McCaughn stated upon qualifying. “It is my primary concern that District 31 is well-represented in Jackson.”

With his announcement, McCaughn said “Senator Terry Burton has been a leading force representing the citizens of District 31 with decades of service. For his commitment to District 31, I am thankful. In my practice, I am on the front lines of our district and have seen our successes and failures. Now is our time to plan for our continued success and to address the problems throughout our state. We cannot slack up and must keep fighting for our local towns, our children, our small businesses, and for each and every person within our district. With the support of the citizens of District 31, I will proudly serve as you Senator.”

McCaughn is a lifelong resident of District 31, having grown up in Scott County and as currently living and working in Newton County. He is a graduate of Morton High School, Jones County Junior College, the University of Mississippi, and Mississippi College School of Law. As a local attorney, his practice focuses upon real estate, family law, and representing various local boards. He is deeply rooted in District 31 and yearns to see it continue to prosper.

“As your Senator, I will keep moving our district forward by fighting for our future, by improving infrastructure, and by encouraging the location of new business to all of District 31.” McCaughn is a member of the Newton Rotary Club, and Newton Chamber of Commerce. He volunteers with the Choctaw Area Boy Scouts of America and is an advocate for growing our future through community

involvement. For the last 11 years, he has helped numerous small business owners with new start-ups and believes that these businesses are the backbone of our district.

McCaughn understands the challenges faced by local farmers. “We cannot take for granted the pivotal role of agriculture in our state,” said McCaughn. “Too often, the row croppers, poultry growers, and cattle farmers and their families that are scattered across our district are forgotten. Their concerns are a priority for me in Jackson. Each of those citizens help secure our food chain and help to feed friends and families across our state and nation. As a cattle farmer myself, I hold dear the value of hard work instilled in me from my parents, Wendell and Brenda McCaughn. As your Senator, I will continue to fight for our farmers to keep our family farms thriving and our food source safe.”

McCaughn is the owner of his law practice, J. Tyler McCaughn, PLLC, in Newton, where he represents citizens and small businesses across the state. As candidate for Senate, McCaughn has plans to speak to various churches and civic groups throughout the district, and is easily always accessible to discuss how to move District 31 forward. As a member of Forest United Methodist Church, he continues to hold his faith close. McCaughn’s dedication to his family, faith, and community will continue to serve District 31 well. McCaughn is “A Voice for You!”

Kingfish note: No surprise. Word on The Street is Josh Yeager is looking at running as well as the daughter of a representative who served 28 years in the House and represented the same area.

The last time I saw him, he was enjoying a few too many whiskey drinks and chasing the Newton City Attorney gig. At least, then, he was more interested in those than my fiance -- unlike his friends.

Burton won’t run again.

Party affiliation of all the people mentioned?

After reading Kingfish's post I contacted Raymond Comans' daughter, Catherine C Horton, who has a very broad 29 years of public and private sector experience. She did confirm she has been asked to run for various offices by friends and State officials in Jackson, not just this year but also in the past. She confirmed politics was a major part of her life due to her father being in the House of Representatives for 28 years. She jokingly reminisced as to how her father made her memorize "How a bill becomes a law". Catherine stated she is still not planning to qualify for any offices at this time.

Ms Horton has a successful, demonstrated history of working in the private sector, implementing federal grants as well as government administration. She is skilled in Management, Project delivery, Business, Budgeting, Accounting/Payroll, and Human Resources. Her forte' is analyzing departments and leading the modification of business processes and technological architecture to trim unnecessary costs, yielding a more healthy bottom line long term. She has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Mississippi College and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Belhaven University.

Industries where she has gone served: Information Technology, Mental Health, Education, Secretary of State, E-Filing, Social Services fraud prevention, Legal, Real Estate and Human Resources

2:13...who are you to call his law practice “bottom of the barrel “ For your information real estate is complex. Just ask those fellows that develop shopping centers or that working family that has a title complaint emerge after closing. Shame on you for being condescending. Look at the family law doctrine of equitable distribution and then tell me that following this line of cases in the “bottom of the barrel. Hell, you probable work for one of those firms that could not fill out a HUD closing statement of get an agreeable couple a divorce without charging ten thousand dollars. GIVE THIS GUY A BREAK.

I researched Joshua Yeager. He has earned three degrees from Mississippi State, a policy degree from Arkansas State and a Leadership Dictorate from Belhaven. He has publically served in the K-12 public education sector, business owner, and an active humanitarian. He has worked in the capital region for several years and has migrated back to his roots in Newton County. Keep an eye out on this progressive genius.

I'm interested in the Belhaven Dictorate program. Can I enroll online? What could be more useless than a leadership degree at that level?

Political schema at work already. Those who judge an individual simply reveal the true character of insecurity. I do not know about this guy but am willing to learn about him.

WOW @8:43, that was so deep.

Thank you for copying and pasting the exaggerated horseshit from your resume Catherine C Horton @ 4:48. Anticipating the upcoming announcement: “I know I said I wasn’t planning on running, but after much prayer and unexpected and overwhelming support from my family and community, I have been convicted to run and serve my home district!” Best of luck.

I think and educational leadership degree calls for much interest. It appears you have some insecurities.

What??? Better check that Belhaven degree. Rumor on the street is that there is no doctorate.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
