Eric Hambrick |
The life of Eric Hambrick is worth less than ten years in Hinds County. Hinds County Circuit JudgeTomie Green blessed his killer, Arkel Coleman, with a sentence that put him back on the streets in 2025. Coleman beat him to death and robbed him nearly two years ago at the Waffle House on High Street.
Mr. Hambrick was an employee at MEMA. He was a talented singer as he performed in the Mississippi Opera and in the choir at First Baptist Church (Jackson). He attended Thursday night choir practice on May 28, 2015. He unfortunately stopped at the Waffle House on High Street at 10:30 PM. The 19 year-old Arkel Coleman thought the 52 year-old man would be easy prey and beat him with his fists. Mr. Hambrick fell to the ground and sustained more injuries when his head violently struck the pavement. His family removed him from life support a few days later. Arkel Coleman and his accomplice, Sherderwick Anderson, removed a ring that they fancied from a dying Eric Hembrick's finger. Police arrested the pair within a few days.
A grand jury indicted the feral Coleman for first degree murder and robbery on June 26, 2015. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The District Attorney accepted the guilty plea and dropped the robbery charge. Attorney Ali Shamsid-dunce represented Coleman.
Judge Tomie Green reviewed the case and blessed Coleman. She sentenced him to serve fifteen years in prison but suspended five years of the sentence. She ordered him to take an anger management class and enroll in a GED class. She naturally gave him credit for time served in prison. Thus the amount of time he will serve in prison after conviction is less than nine years. MDOC records state he will be released on May 30, 2025 - ten years to the day when Eric Hambrick died. Keep in mind that Shamsid-dunce clerked for Judge Green.
Meanwhile, Anderson was indicted for robbery. His case is currently growing mold as Judge Kidd continues his usual practice of continuing cases for several years.
Kingfish note: All Eric Hambrick ever did was serve. He served the community. He served at church. Friends, family, and colleagues all said he was a blessing to others. His life was taken by a savage, an animal who would never amount to anything and should have been put down like the dog that he is. However, he is just marking the time until he can party in freedom on his thirtieth birthday while Eric Hambrick will never see another birthday.
There is no other way to put it: Judge Tomie Green is a threat to public safety. Judge Green considers her courtroom to be a social experiment instead of a place where justice is meted out to those who deserve it. Thugs are turned loose to terrorize the community. Killers such as Coleman get light sentences. Fathers who rape their own infant children are given leniant but illegal sentences.
The District Attorney's office accepted the plea but did not recommend a sentence. Judge Green had sole discretion over the sentence.
This case is a miscarriage of justice. Period. This savage will be back on the streets before he is thirty years-old. Free to rob and kill again and again. We are in the middle of a Mayor's race. Every one of the candidates will talk tough about crime but NOT ONE OF THEM will address the real problem: the prosecutors and judges who backstab the police. None of them will criticize this sentence or other similar verdicts that are issued in the Hinds County criminal justice system again and again. At some point, the people who keep putting judges such as Tomie Green bear the blame for what happens in her courtroom and that my friends, is the bottom line .
Here are some more Judge Green blessings
Judge Green's illegal suspension of child molestor's sentence.
No jail for armed robber who carjacks a few months later.
Suspends complete sentence for armed robber.
Suspends another sentence for an armed robber
Suspends two sentences for armed robbery. Maces female clerk and robs her 3 months later.
Suspends all but 20 years of sentence for 1st degree murder conviction.

The judicial system in Hinds county is beyond corrupt. The district attorney is a total incompetent, and Tommie Green is the most worthless judge that ever wore a robe. It doesn’t matter what the level of intelligence or the character of the person is who runs for office in Jackson or Hinds county as long as they are black. Why the Hell haven’t Judicial Performance and the Supreme Court acted and removed this racist judge?
Yet another reason to never go into Jackson.
TRUTH:
1. Yep, no doubt, TG sucks as a judge.
2. Don’t expect a fair and just trial in Madison or Rankin County either. The cops OWN the system there. Big boy Tucker can get any damn fool elected and the Madison County “Justice” Court proves it.
Just sayin!!
6:43 Although it does not fit your own racist view of the Black community, the real problem in the Hinds County Judiciary is ignorance, not racism. The vast majority of Hinds county residents do not know one judge from the other and will vote for any lawyer for any position if they are familiar with the name, Black or White. If one can forge an identification with the Democratic party he has a good chance, if he can be identified as a Republican supporter he will be rejected. (Even though the elections are "non-partisan") After the election, there is no accountability and Judges are free to reward or punish those lawyers who support or oppose them. The Judge in question here, is opposed by Blacks as well as Whites. Those who oppose her, black or White, get the backhand in her Court, those she likes, get gooood deals. Because most Black lawyers who practice in Circuit Court need to make good deals to make a living, they dare not oppose her honor and take the chance of losing the election. The opposition will come from those who do not depend on her deals to make a living. Same thing in Chancery, but that is a story for another day...
I'll try not to cuss and go on a rampage. So let me calmly ask how this murder could be pleaded down to manslaughter? Now I will back away from the keyboard and throw some shit at the wall.
Anger Management? Holy Shit, Batman.
7:51 - Since you brought it up, please state the facts of ANY trial held in Madison County that you believe was unfairly held in process or outcome. I'll wait.
Politics, politics, politics... home cooking is the best cooking...
This is all about "payback" from when white's ran Jackson.
Anyone that says different is full of shit.
@7:56
I won't try to argue but I noticed that the alphabet TV stations aren't really discussing Judge Green or her lenient sentencing. The only way most people find out this important news is from JJ. Unfortunately the average Hinds County and City of Jackson voters aren't visiting in greater numbers than they visit the alphabets.
Let's look at the facts in a recursive way. Arkel Coleman just wanted some Waffle House money, so he planted a right hook on Mr. Hambrick who promptly fell to the ground striking his head on the concrete. So, the fault lies in Mr. Hambrick not being able to take a punch & the hard concrete causing the death. Arkel Coleman growing up in the getto knew the only way to make money was to steal & kill for it. Don't worry Jackson, in 2025 Arkel Coleman will be back on the streets of Jackson doing what he knows best. And next time it will proberally be a black killed by this piece of Sh_t.
I'm so sick and tired to TG... I hope she rots for the $#!t pain she has caused countless individuals. It's a sad state to see this women in the position she is in. She s a total and complete moron.
9:47 am
Thank you for introducing me to the word recursive.
Now you might want to look it up and see if you can use it in a sentence.
WLBT and WAPT will not touch this subject. If you are elderly and live in Jackson you live in fear of your life. This is NOT how anyone should have
to live! If this was going on in Rankin County or Madison, both of those
television stations would have round the clock coverage.
My (very) limited experience practicing in Judge Green's court left me with the impression that her decisions are based on her relationships with the attorneys representing the parties. If you're in with her, you (i.e, your clients) get preferential treatment. If not, you (and your clients) get the "backhand" mentioned above. I don't think it's corruption in a traditional sense. It's just all about Tommie.
Clarion-Ledger did.
As if on cue, the Donners have started swarming this post.
@KF
I think you have more readers than the Jackson birdcage liner of record.

Look at her contributors. Dorsey Carson, Merrida Coxwell, some other attorneys listed. Maybe those are the ones we have to start holding accountable. I know they will say "we have to contribute because we practice in her courtroom", but come on guys...
"we have to contribute because we practice in her courtroom" IS THE PROBLEM!
Agree wholeheartedly with 6:23 and 7:56. If you go to church with, have children who went to school with her's, shop in the same store with, etc. then you vote for this person, providing they are black. Don't know that her competition is much better.
I could understand even defend manslaughter if it had not occurred during the commission of another felony, robbery. Regardless of the race of either this is complete corruption of the criminal justice system.
The animal should be hung in Smith Park.
This person is not an animal. He is a person created in the image of God. A broken person who committed a terrible act that took the life of another image bearer, but a person nonetheless.
Just wondering. . . if by some chance Tomi Green gets turned out of office, will she starve to death?
Asking for a friend.
"A broken person who committed a terrible act that took the life of another image bearer, but a person nonetheless"....who should, at a minimum, be in prison until 2035. Preferably longer.
Even a campaign donation will get a white defense lawyer a fair shake from TG. Been there, done that.
Amen on the comment about this person being an image bearer. We all are. Dehumanization is not healthy. However even the most forgiving can admit that this person might need to spend more time in the penitentiary.
How the hell can anybody defend manslaughter, in this case, 1:15. When you follow somebody out of a restaurant after dark, hit him several times in the head causing him to fall, then steal his ring after he's laying there unconscious.....please defend your dumb-ass post! Either you do not understand the definition of manslaughter or you're one of Tommie Green's yard-chillun.
My family is well acquainted with "Judge" Green's brand of justice.
Green is a walking, talking miscarriage of justice. She has made her criminal docket a comedy of errors. When she qualifies citizens to serve as jurors, we had to check each one to make certain they were not convicted felons. Green believes convicted felons should be able to serve on juries, therefore, she ignores the law that disqualifies them.
Within the DAs office, historically being assigned to Green's courtroom is either punishment or the consequence of being the new body on the roster. You should seldom blame the ADA in that courtroom for the mockeries of justice that occur.
She has a stranglehold on the ignorant voters in her district. She leaves in a box or in the very unlikely event the Supreme Court finally takes action and sanctions her out of office.
Y’all keep re-writing the facts. The ADAs and defense knew what truly happened or at least
what would come out in trial and none of the above scenarios are accurate.
5:01. Read what was said, I said I could not defend it as it was done in the commission of another felony not two men in a fight and one dies as a result of the beating and his head hitting the concrete.
8:46 - I know exactly what you said. I read it. What you said is if they had not stolen his ring, you'd be able to defend manslaughter. So, to put your claim in the form of a question: How could you defend murder as manslaughter if they had only beat the shit out of him and left him on the concrete to die and not pulled the ring off his finger?
Your turn.
EH was a friend of mine and if any of you do-gooding, social justice warriors do t think this had anything to do with the savages being black, kiss my ass.
