Two Sisters Restaurant actually received a mention in the Wall Street Journal today Commentator Roger Simon wrote:
Being a Jewish fella, I don’t hold much brief for white supremacists and neo-Nazis. But until this Saturday, I hadn’t seen a lot of them around lately. And I’ve been going about the country quite a bit for the last couple of years, hitting roughly half the states, including some like Mississippi where the Klan was once riding high. Two Sisters is still closed after it shut down nearly a month ago.
I’m happy to report that on my visit to the black-owned Two Sister’s Kitchen in the capital of that state, Jackson, blacks and whites were both equally, and contentedly in my eyes, braving the criticism of their cardiologists for what is reputed to be the best fried chicken in town. I recommend it wholeheartedly (no pun intended).
Nevertheless, the types who surfaced in Charlottesville on Saturday are certainly human beings of the most repellent and disgusting sort, murderous too—pretty much violent, evil sociopaths. I wouldn’t mind if they were all rounded up, put in a space ship, and sent on a one-way trip to Alpha Centauri.... Rest of column.

Let's hope Black Diamonds is still open.
Didn't realize Two Sisters was EVER black-owned.
Maybe the name confused him.......especially, since he's probably completely in-tune with everything going on in MS
Two Sister's (sic)
Have they pulled down any monuments in Mississippi Yet?
Well, bless his heart, just about everyone knows white women could not cook that well...
And, yes, in Jackson, Mississippi, I do believe we are content to eat side by side in any restaurant.
What does "white brief for white supremacist" mean? If you are coming south to dictate how we should live, please communicate in a way we might be able to understand.
nobody ever asked if the owners were black or white. it did not matter. go figure.
He should have gone to Bully's!
I've got better sense than to click on the WSJ. But for those who do, is one allowed to comment on items like the one above? If so, could someone (or several someones) please enlighten Roger Simon?
By the way... As one of the 'Jewish Fellas' of Mississippi, I've gotta say, that most of our community here, would rather have one of those 'Supremacists' visit our homes, than somebody down from New York, ignoring reality, while redefining everything he sees, to fit his own personal agenda.
The 'Supremacists', at least, are sincere in their beliefs (which, in my experience, they eventually outgrow and recant). Mr. Simon and his ilk, on the other hand, are just soulless opportunists with no interest in the truth.
The Supremacists were never the same after Diana left....
Those of you posting about the ownership / race of owners do not know what you are talking about.
Inquire before you run your mouth.
8:54 don't drink cheap vodka
8:54- Excellent and honest post. What has happened to the WSJ?
9:25,
So, what's your problem with it?
Actually the building is now owned by a black lady. I heard that there is going to be litigation coming.

Actually, only ONE person posted an opinion as to the race of the owners of the eatery. Anyway, I DID "inquire" (via Google), and found a photo of the mother-daughter team whose restaurant it is.
Do a Google image search for: "Diann Alford and daughter Amanda Griffin". Unless the restaurant has new proprietors, 7:44 PM would appear to be correct.
8:54 pm I'm shocked that someone who claims to be " a Jewish fellow" doesn't know that white supremacists do not consider you to be white. It's not just their neo-Nazi allies who don't want you around .
The real joke is those white supremacists and neo-Nazis weren't there for Robert E Lee. The odds they had an ancestor who was even in this country during the time of the Civil War, much less fought for the Confederacy if they did, is slim to none.
Active white supremacists or neo-Nazis are either losers or criminals or have a mental illness. They are no different from any of those who use politics or religion as an excuse for violence. You might as well sympathize with ISIS members...they are all just defective humans and their mantra is dictated only by where they live.
Yanks, Brits and others visiting our region for two days and leaving as experts on our culture and motives is nothing new. We have especially endured this comedy in the Delta for most of a hundred years. Catch a plane into Memphis, the Trailways or a limo south toward Clarksdale and your suddenly in Heaven. All it will take is a day and a half to gather enough facts to write an article or even a book.
The best food in the Delta, according to many of these morons, can be found in Oxford.
11:33
The article on google is incorrect.
Give the Brit some credit. He learned how to hunt, clean his own kills, fix the wood-burning stove (or was it furnace) and made a real go at picking up the ways of the Delta. A bit more than a hit and run job.
Racist! Needs to be fired and never be able to write again. Obviously he thinks only southern black women are the only ones capable of cooking fine fried chicken.
The business is "black owned."
Even when it was not owned by AA people the lady making the chicken was also AA.
Stop.
The 20 seconds of pleasure in eating fried chicken don't justify the 12 hours of indigestion and lethargy.
Simple folks. The BUILDING is owned by a black individual. Diane Alford, who has run the business for decades is obviously white. Doesn't matter who the cooks were as far as this article is concerned 9:25, but since you seem to think it matters we will take your word for it.
As to the writer of the article, I am sure he Googled the property maps and found the property owner. Guess he can go from there as far as checking his sources. Truth of the matter is I imagine most folks who ate there thought that Diane owned the place as well as operated it. And for all those that enjoyed her fried chicken, it didn't really occur to them that there were black folks, and white folks, sitting in the same room - or many times, at the same table - enjoying the good food.
Bless you, 10:37.
"The odds they had an ancestor who was even in this country during the time of the Civil War, much less fought for the Confederacy if they did, is slim to none."
Not so fast there, Goldbloom. My papers are framed on the den wall. Where are yours and those of Pitt Panther?
10:37, you do realize owning a business and owning the building where that business is located can be two different things, right?
The business owner, Diane Alford, is not the same as the building owner here. In many cases, business owners are merely tenants in these buildings, which may be owned by someone else.
The author referred to "the black-owned Two Sister's Kitchen," meaning he's talking about the business, NOT the building.
First and only time I ate there, I knew it wasn't black owned. The fare is not soul food. It maybe country but it's not soul food.
The business is black owned.
The building.
The chicken.
The chairs.
The everything.
Diann sold it.
Is that so hard to get?
Some folks are trying to make chicken salad out of chicken ----.
Okay I might try it again if they start having soul food on the menu.
@ 3:54
Too late. They are closed and will never reopen.
Oh the new owner isn't going to reopen it?
12:31am You have something on a wall? I have daguerreotypes, history books, diaries and copies of pages from State Archives including in the memoirs compiled by The Daughters of the Confederacy.
My paternal ancestor survived Point Lookout after being wounded at Cold Harbor. My maternal ancestor of that period in history was too young to serve but his 4 brothers were killed fighting with Lee. His mother hid him in a well in 1863 when a 12 year old who looked older was at risk of being forced to fight. In short, in all my family on both sides, including all the uncles, there was ONE survivor.
My ancestor thought Lee was old and tired and made a terrible strategic mistake at Gettysburg and wasn't too happy with him. He was glad, however, that Grant talked Johnson into withdrawing the treason charges.
I've also done DNA 23 and me. Have you or are you afraid you aren't " pure"? I am German and English and Scot. What are you?
You need a math lesson. Start with the population of males before and after the Civil War.
And, do let me know which civil wars you think didn't devastate the country in which they occurred and didn't leave that country vulnerable.
Are you admitting you are a white supremacist, member of the KKK, or Neo-Nazi? If so, all you are to me is bat shit crazy.
Put the statues on the battlefields, in cemeteries or on private property and take them away from public lands. Or is it ok with you for Hitler statues and those of his generals to be all over Germany? Should we have helped preserve Saddam's statue?
There is NO excuse for what happened in Charlottesville and anyone who sympathizes with that asshole or is willing to tolerate allies in a political cause who would do what he did or march down streets yelling racial slurs needs to have their head examined.
When and where does the book burning start?

I'm QUITE aware that the OFFICIAL stance of White Supremacy is that I am "not white". And frankly, I may NOT be "white", by the strictest standards - not that it particularly matters.
I'm not sure whether it's your reading skills which are lacking, or your grasp of logic which is sub-par. But your little sack of assumptions does not mesh very well with what I wrote.
In any event, you ARE right about many of the Supremacists' NOT being Old Stock Americans. What's even more ironic, is that among the Supremacists "identified" from photos of the recent demonstrations, there are a great many men whom Hitler would have classed as SUBHUMAN - because they're SLAVS. I find it funny, that the current crop of Nazi sympathizers, in the Middle East and in Eastern Europe, are the very sorts whom Hitler would have exterminated (or worked to death as slave labor), once he was finished with us Jews.
What you failed to grasp, in my original post, was that I was NOT expressing admiration for the 'Supremacists', but instead, was classifying them as being SOMEWHAT less awful than that yutz writer from the New York Times.
By the way... It's really easy to find the names of the women who founded and operate (or operated) 'Two Sisters'. There are plenty of write-ups about the restaurant. From there, it's ridiculously easy to find MULTIPLE photos of them in the restaurant, either with their names listed in captions, or with their names noted in the 'information' you often find, when you right-click on a photo.
