A Canton police dispatcher was arrested for taking what can only be called an illegal smoke break. Madison County deputies arrested Earl Haney on the late hours of July 21 at the Gluckstadt exit ramp on I-55 South.
The arresting officer stated in the police report:
I was the arresting office and the evaluator. I came into contact with Haney on the 155 south Gluckstadt exit ramp. I was out with other Deputies while they were waiting on a tow truck for a car on the ramp. I was assisting with directing traffic due to two lanes of the exit being closed. I noticed that there was a car approaching my location and I noticed that the driver of the car was not wearing his safety belt. I advised the driver Haney, who's driver's window was down, to stop for me. I approached the window and noticed that there was a strong odor of marijuana. I noticed that Haney was wearing a polo shirt with a Canton Police Department badge on it. I asked Haney for his DL and proof of insurance and also asked him what he did for Canton P.D. Haney stated that he was a dispatcher and was on break at this time. After Haney handed me his information I noticed that there was a marijuana cigarette in the cup holder. I asked Haney if he rolled his on cigarettes and he stated that he didn't. I advised Haney to hand the rolled one to me and he did so. I found that it was a marijuana cigarette and asked Haney to step out of the car. Once Haney was out of the car and checked for weapons I asked him if there was any other marijuana in the car and he stated that there was. I found that the marijuana was in the driver's door pocket. I placed Haney into cuffs and into the rear of my patrol unit. I then looked in the car further and found that there was a small white substance on the driver's seat. I looked back in the bag that the marijuana was in and noticed that there was also a white envelop in the bag. When opening the envelope I noticed that there was white residue and on further inspection of the marijuana I noticed that there was a white substance mixed in with the marijuana. When I asked Haney about the white substance he advised that it was crack that he was mixing with the marijuana.
Kingfish note: Smoking weed and crack while working at the police station? This suspect definitely qualifies for idiot of the day.

Truth is always stranger than fiction. You just can't make this stuff up.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
But wait... This stop was another prime example of profiling by the MCSO. Somebody call the ACLU and report this immediately!
Damn Damn Damn (in my Florida Evans voice ) Folk have to be more careful lol
Yup. Don't show this to the ACLU, it will call me "delusional" again.
It's a shame that a 66yo man still has to work. In a civilized state, he would be retired and able to sit at home and smoke all the weed and crack he desires.
How can he afford Mary Jane and crack on a dispatcher's salary?
For once you and I agree PittPanther - mr37
If it had been Canton PD making the stop, we'd never hear of this.
10:03AM Stopping someone for not wearing a seatbelt is a lot different than stopping and asking for ID when you’re exiting an apartment complex on foot. Calm down, Privilege.
If I'd gotten a tip about it, I would have asked for report. Don't know what CPD would've given me.
Ole Randy is retaliating against the folks who tipped off the ACLU and the Feds, They got lucky when Trump got elected.
So 12:02, you think this doesn't warrant foot patrols in Canton Estates?

It should warrant the US Marines. Dream on, Snowflake.

Check out the second amendment to the United States Constitution, Bedwetter.
As someone who was stupid enough to actually buy rental property in that hellhole (decades back, when I was young and colorblind), I can only say that this incident is CLASSIC CANTON. That has to be the most evil little town in America.
I agree that anybody walking the street yelling and fingering the sky with an AK strapped across his back ought to be stopped and questioned although Holder's approach would have been to retort with "BRO Whazzup?"
On LivePD they always say "we don't catch the smart ones".
