War zones are safer that jackson
I used to live in that neighborhood, or just across Purple Creek in Lake Trace. I left in 2004 and Ridgewood Park was already becoming quite dangerous. It doesn't surprise me at all that this type of thing is starting to happen there.
There are not a whole lot of reasons why a car would stop and the driver would take a shot at someone standing in a nearby yard.
It was a long month, 31 days. Bet there were more than 31 shootings... AND it's not the hot summer yet. Hang on.

Considering the ongoing gang war in Jackson, there's plenty of reasons.
Remember when the Clarion Ledger used to publish a running total of murders in Jackson? When did they stop doing that? Was pretty entertaining.
You're entertained by murder, 1:00pm? Sick.
Jackson probably has lots more that 31 "shootings" each month. Not all results in death.
Didn't Vance say crime is down?
The reporting and accurate classification of crimes are down.
Was he trying to collect on an overdue straight-pipe installation fee? Peoples, if you want free water, you gotta pay up! Free water ain't free!
First of all the accurate classification of crimes is not happening. The city manipulates the numbers to make it appear this way. They are unable to do this with murder. I am a strong believer that if murder and aggravated assaults are up then more than likely almost all other crime is up. Ask those who live in Jackson think crime is down. My vote is absolutely not.
