The streets of Jackson will be safe from John Rollins for a few years. Hinds County Circuit Judge Jeff Weill removed the "suspended" part of a three and a half year suspended sentence on Rollings and returned him back to the custody of MDOC. Rollins was arrested for stealing a vehicle belonging to Tara Coxwell right in front of her in March. Rollins had a string of arrests, convictions, probations, suspended sentences, and even a probation revocation since 2010. Rollins' problems with the law apparently had no effect on the hoodlum as he smiled at times throughout the hearing.
MDOC asked the court to impose a suspended sentence from a 2015 auto theft conviction of 3 1/2 years. Attorney Brent Southern represented Rollins. Judge Weill agreed with MDOC and sent him back to prison. Judge Weill said he "had probably committed a felony". He said he had been indicted for another felony and that he had a pending revocation in Judge Gowan's court. Rollins was indicted in April for one count of grand larceny. That case was assigned to Judge Tomie Green after Judge Winston Kidd recused himself. Assistant District Attorney Randy Harris represented the state at today's revocation hearing.

This victim can feel a little safer knowing Rollins is where he belongs.
Today I was car jacked at a very nice, well known, Northeast Jackson business. The part of town where I grew up, my grandparents settled there, and my mom grew up as well. I am thankful that my babies were not in the car because he would have taken them with him. God was watching over us today. JPD did an amazing job, and within 30 minutes of making the 911 call, the monster was caught and they recovered my car. I have had many firsts today... being a victim of a crime, I have ridden in 3 police cars today(once in the back), been to my crime scene where he caught my car on fire, and went downtown to write a two page report so this monster will stay in jail. Tomorrow morning I go to court to make sure he stays locked up. I am beyond angry.
Rollins has had his share of convictions and second chances:
*Rollins was sentenced on 3/23/11/ in Hinds County for auto burglary. He received a prison sentence of one year and one day and three years probation. He was also convicted of credit card fraud and received a prison term of ten months.
He was released on probation on 5/25/11, but his probation was later revoked. He was resentenced on 12/1/11 for the burglary conviction and received three years to serve with no probation. He spent 122 days in jail before being sentenced.
*Shoplifting conviction on 9/18/12. The court sentenced Rollins to a prison sentence of 1 year and 1 one day to serve with four years probation. He was released on probation on 5/12/14. His probation was later revoked.
*Rollins was sentenced again on 1/22/15 for vehicle theft and received 1 year and six months to serve and 3 years probation. He was released again on probation on 7/10/15. His probation was revoked again on 8/14/15 and he was sentenced to the technical violation center for 180 days.
*Court records state he received a suspended prison sentence of 3 years, 6 months on January 27, 2015 for motor vehicle theft. He also received a suspended prison sentence of 3 years and 364 days on September 9, 2012 for shoplifting as well.
*Indictment for auto theft as a habitual offender on April 7, 2016. Offense took place in May 2015.
Kingfish note: Good job, MDOC and DA's office. Everyone worked together and put this hood back in jail where he belongs. He hasn't learned anything, has been given numerous breaks, and keeps getting worse.

You provide an invaluable voice for the community Mr. Kingfish. Thank you!
Actually, the 'invaluable service' was provided either by God or a twitch of fate, whichever ensured that Tommie Green didn't get close to this case again.
Was he sentenced to any more time or just had one sentence suspension removed?
I can't read all of those pages and can't make them larger.
