Meanwhile back at the Rev....

A birthday celebration took place for Dr. Wright and crew after that board meeting yesterday.

The gentleman with his back to the camera is Dr. John Q. Porter. The elderly man sitting to his left is Board of Education Chairman Dr. John Kelly. Dr. Carey Wright is sitting on the right.

Looks like Another Broken Egg? I wonder if there are any DOE vehicles in the parking lot?

"The Rev" as stated in the tag line is Seafood Revolution guys.

The food and drink prices there are not that astronomical....why are you stalking them KF?

Anonymous said...

Seafood Revolution....must have been Happy Hour.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of John Q. I bet John Q Taxpayer picked up that tab. Seafood Revolution?

Anonymous said...

That appears to be the patio at Seafood Revolution.

Looks like another executive session, lol!

And this is newsworthy...why? The fact that she makes $307k (reportedly the most in her position in the US when MS isn't 1st in the US)-that's newsworthy. The fact that she hired her Deputy at $195k, that's newsworthy. The fact that she gave so many of her employees exorbitant raises, while complaining education is underfunded-that's newsworthy. But, a birthday lunch??? Snooze fest. Run a real story, please. If you're out of ideas...How the Republican Party (statewide officials, legislators, & local/county officials) are sick of Tate Reeves, the turmoil and in-fighting because they hate him...that's a good story. But, wait, you may have to get off your couch to research that one...

Doesn't it feel comforting knowing this band of goons leads the Dept of Education. Sheesh.

And the MBE has rubber stamped their incompetence. Don't let the board members off the hook here. They are responsible for oversight and they have FAILED to do their job. If this was a corporate board the CEO or President would have already been fired. The MBE is nothing but a rubber stamp for more of the same shit. Shame on you MBE board members. Shame. Obvious all those Ph.D's really are just piled higher and deeper.

Student achievement on the rise so who really cares about salaries, dinners at Seafood Rev, etc. What she and her team is doing is working.

Anonymous said...

Student achievement on the rise? I suggest you check to see who fudged or should I say provided those "rising numbers ". If I had this crew in my corner, it would work for me too.

Anonymous said...

Somehow I'm not surprised that they ended up there--consider the ownership group....something 'fishy' going on???

Seafood Rev is the most expensive restaurant in the state, by a long shot.

Anonymous said...

Beyond being a resume builder, how much do Board Of Education appointees make for service on the board? Anyone know?

Anonymous said...

3:53 you don't eat out a lot do you?

Its not McDonalds...but there are other places which charge just as much...Shapleys, Tico's, Parlor Market to name a few.

Anonymous said...

@4:28 you obviously have never paid for a meal at SeafRev with an ignorant statement like that. This is grown-up talk, go back to naptime.

Anonymous said...

4:43 PM

Ate there last night and paid for my meal...may eat there again tonight. Since I provided you with comparably priced places and you just had a tantrum....I think its you who may need a nap little girl.

Wonder how many teachers can afford the SeaRev for lunch? It is a perception issue and when you take a public salary that is apparently the highest in the country for your position - tone deaf is an understatement. Boneheaded and clueless. 2017 legislative session cannot come fast enough! Fire that bunch of clowns and take the money and give the teachers a raise!

Also need to review quals to be on MS Board of Ed - another clown show.

Never had lunch there but dinner for the wife and I was two Benjamin's and a Grant and we are not big drinkers. That was an appetizer each, two salads and two steaks and sides and a drink each - includes tip. Yea, what the hell were we thinking going to a seafood place and eating steak! I do remember thinking as I was paying the bill, "damn, that is going to be one expensive crap". Good food though.

Anonymous said...

I'd love to see what this cost the taxPAYERS.

She is an idiot and should be fired.

Anonymous said...

Where people have lunch?

Who gives a shit.

It's creepy someone took a picture of them from the next table. Like, stalking creepy.

Her take home and mine are very similar, I won't have the retirement like hers though. If she was in business for herself, she would probably not be able to turn a profit at all, much less a 300k profit. That is amazing, the jobs where your don't really have to produce but can make a good salary.

This is tame compared to our legislators out partying on the lobbyists' dime. Some of our ultra conservatives really enjoy getting drunk for free.

Anonymous said...

I feel like I've got a pretty good handle on one side of the story. Can someone argue the other side? I know that people who are actually busy getting sh%t done often take the position of "don't feed the trolls," but I think, given the evidence before us (thanks JJ!) someone from DOE should respond. There's no word/character limit in a blog, so feel free to justify your arguments with numbers, supporting docs, etc...

@8:20 there are sppoks all over this town. They network and such.

Anonymous said...

@8:20- nothing creepy about taking pictures in public of overpaid state employees eating on the state dime with board members at an expensive dive. Might be allowed by law but damn sure looks arrogant as hell. All you prop 42 proponents, just think of that picture next time you hit up your legislators for more money for education. Think about where it really goes. If that doesn't bother you, then maybe you have your head in the sand.

Hey, JJ. Please investigate why the MDE spent nearly $250,000 on an investigation into the Heidelberg school cheating problem. A quarter of a million dollars!?

Anonymous said...

What evidence is there that the meal is on the state dime?

Kingfish said...

None. between the half a million dollars in salaries between two of them, one can assume the state didn't pay for it.

Anonymous said...

Appears this group is lacking in diversity--

Anonymous said...

Assume that bureaucrats with generous expense budgets are going to automatically dig into their own pockets? Doubt that Kingfish and doubt they'd drop Revolution scale green if one of the attendees was personally picking up the tab.

What evidence is there that the meal is on the state dime?

None until the expense reports are filed. Then the proof will be available. Are you taking wagers?

Anonymous said...

9:48 AM

Are you offering to wager money on whether or not the people in the photo submit an expense voucher for that lunch or not?

You do realize in your zest to see these people possibly spend state money (which may be perfectly legitimate) you are yourself willing to violate existing law?

You are indeed the exact type of hypocrite who needs to drown accidentally before you breed or with your entire brood.

Anonymous said...

11:02, what the hell is wrong with you? That is a group of people who have been stealing from the tax payers for a long time. I hope you are not really that dumb that you would think people who are already stealing from the taxpayers would not miss a chance to steal more.

Anonymous said...

Jump to conclusions much 11:02?

Anonymous said...

A paid consultant or vendor probably paid for that lunch. In return, they get contracts etc. Even these people are not stupid enough to turn in an expense voucher for this.

Anonymous said...

2:34, it isn't that they are that stupid. It is just that they do not give a damn and know nothing will be done about it.
What would bet that there isn't more than one voucher put in for the same meal? After all, what can anyone do about it?

Anonymous said...

Was the picture taken on one of those Obama phones?

Anonymous said...

No one with an Obama phone is allowed there.

The story here is not where they are or the cost of the meal or even that they deserve to eat. The story is that I should not have to pay for them to eat following a meeting. State regulations are that everybody has to eat somewhere and unless you are over-nighting on business, you are not entitled to put meals on your expense report.

I'll bet Uncle-Farties-Pulled-Finger that it went on a state credit card. And if it went on a personal card it will still wind up on a month-end expense report. The proletariat can shut up and eat at Burger-Mac.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell.
