Is Thad running again?

Is Thad gearing up for another re-election effort or raising money for the farewell tour?

Since he has no home in MS, maybe all this is to buy him a worthy estate where he can spend his "Golden" years.

If he doesn't run, Austin & Henry will give the money to black radio stations.

Thad barely knows his own name. He'll be lucky to live through this term.

The man is a millionaire, thanks to porking the rest of us for almost half a century. It's obscene for him to have a fund-raiser.

Hope they pack in enough grass and straw to feed all those RINOs.

Kay has a place on the coast she bought during the post-Katrina distress period. She's also been voting down there. Now the question is has she also voted in the District? Hmmm.

This can't be! I thought y'all told us Cochran was retiring in 2015 and was only running for reelection so that Bryant could appoint someone (himself or Harper) to replace Cochran.

Anonymous said...

Everyone knows he isn't running again. Like most big campaigns he likely has campaign debt and I assume is raising money to pay that off.

Get real. This is nest egg building not recharging his campaign war chest. He'll pay off any remaining loans and bank the remainder.

The retirement timing 10:29 was never 2015. He's heading off at the juncture which gives the RINO appointee the maximum advantage prior to 2020.

@9:34 idiot. Cochran has a nice house in Oxford. Has had it for years. You and McD can continue your lies as long as you want to, but just like your boy Trump, lies are lies - especially when the facts are easily proven.

Joe Sanderson just wants his illegal aliens chicken pluckers and he'll grease every skid possible to keep the border invasion spigot on full bore.

Unlike in Mississippi, Federal candidates can't keep campaign funds or spend them on personal expenses, so unless he personally loaned his campaign money that has not been repaid, there is no personal gain he can derive from a fundraiser. He can, of course, use a war chest to support other candidates.

Anonymous said...

Yes, 11:13 but please do a bit, well a lot, more research on your end because there are a myriad of ways leftover Federal campaign funds can be used to benefit a retiring Legislator.

There is indirect personal gain but being a Cochran apologist go ahead and pretend otherwise. I'll bet you also think black Democrat votes weren't purchased, that Thad lived in Kay's basement and that she wasn't passed off as Thad's "wife" on all those foreign junkets. LMAO

Thad is a disgrace. He has used his position to enrich himself and others, with our tax money.

Anonymous said...

Nice way to build a "PAC" type fund to support the types of Republican candidates that Cochran would support. This is starting to build a war chest for the coming lengthy clash between the Barbour wing of the party and the McDaniel wing of the party.

Anonymous said...

... because there are a myriad of ways leftover Federal campaign funds can be used to benefit a retiring Legislator.

Senator Geritol can kick his unused funds it into a PAC and/or convert 'Citizens for Thad Cochran' into a PAC. Once the money gets into a PAC it is party time!

Love that donors list, it contains the names of all the multi-millionaire creeps in Mississippi that wanted to raise the gas taxes of our $10 dollar an hour population to build and fix nicer roads for their company vehicles to travel daily.

Obsess Much? said...

Can someone please turn off the Interwebs in Jones County for the rest of the week? It would be good for us, of course, but also very beneficial for them.

Come pay homage to ol' Thad. Boss Hogg and the MSGOP will be keeping score. The organizers forgot to mention that for a $25,000 love gift you can come to DC and spend the night in Kay's basement.

The sponsorship list for the Bolivar County rundraiser is just as interesting. A bunch of good ole boys still spending they daddies' cash. The resumes of these goofballs are interesting and they all have aspirations.

What will $50,000 buy me?

Haley? Henry? Austin?

Anonymous said...

@7:38 - send in your check and find out. but of course, your check won't make it even if you move the decimal place over three places .

Bernie Sanders is the only candidate who has called for an end to this corruption.

Is Thad really still alive? Every time I saw him he had someone propping him up and holding him. I will have to look for both hands on the holder the next time. If one hand is hidden I know where it is.

Well I guess it's true that no good deed goes unpunished - what a bunch of ungrateful ignoramuses! Most of these comments are indicative of Mississippi's low standing in the nation. Cochran has done more for your state's population and prosperity than you will ever accomplish in your meaningless, dead-end careers. Just wait until you are represented by some low-ranking junior senator instead of the Chairman of Appropriations. You should be far more concerned about the current leadership circus in your state. But, hey, now you can carry a gun into your LGBT-free churches. Mississippi: Making America Great Again!...

Anonymous said...

Sounds like @10:50 AM has a serious concerns about our low-ranking junior senator Roger Wicker.

Whatever You Can Give Is Appreciated said...

10:50 - Even on the chance that you are correct, does that justify a fund-raiser for a multi-millionaire who is arguably at the end of his career with no need to mount a campaign or pay bills?

Hell, the Senate and WE have been paying for him to travel the world with his 'landlord' for years. What does he need money for now?

Anonymous said...

Get off of it about Mrs. Kay. She is a fine person, and she and the Senator were most respectful of the first Mrs. Cochran, God rest her soul. They deserve every happiness. Sickening that she was so taken advantage of by the opposing campaign. Also, God bless the soul of the gentlemen who took his own life as a result. Such a horrible and unbelievable tragedy! I hope those of you making such accusations have checked your own closets and mirrors for signs of hypocrisy. Move along.

It is the last payoff @5:54 for Republican services rendered, not a fund-raiser.

Let's Send The Cochrans On A Farewell Tour said...

Feel better now, 6:49. You're little schmarmy lesson in morality and mirror gazing is nothing but self-serving hypocrisy. The prior Miz Cochran (God rest her soul) had no idea her husband was living with his (now) wife for all those years.

How in the name of hell can you call their cavorting 'respectful'? The prior Miz Cochran wasn't taken advantage of by anybody other than her husband and his 'landlady'. And all on our dime, including the bill at Catholic-Towers Nursing Home.

Some people have no morals. They will even defend someone who takes advantage of their sick wife.

"Mrs. Kay" may be a fine person but that in no way ameliorates Thad Cochran's decades long deception of Mississippi voters regarding his fidelity and the truth behind his "arrangement" with Webber. The living in the basement lie while openly presenting himself out on the DC town as half a romantic pair with his landlord/staffer is farcical. Even Bennie Thompson knew what was going on headlining fundraisers at Webber's house with the happy loving couple.

There are no lengths the establishment Republicans will not go to retain their power. The Mississippi Republican Party is corrupt to its very core. Bennie knows this and used Thad's little secret as leverage while the MSGOP covered the other end of the political Quid pro quo by not helping any Republican ever running against Thompson.

Thad Cochran and his MSGOP enablers lied to Mississippi voters then and still are to this day. Period.

I have nothing but contempt for all of these folks who dare to interject themselves into Sen. and Mrs. Cochran, Rose Cochran, and the Cochran's children's relationship.

You are sick and disgusting.

You have broken the commandment of not bearing false witness. Gossip is a sin. Your comments are sinful.

Thad Cochran will go down as one of the best Senators from the State of Mississippi.

Your candidate, Chrissy McDaniel, would still be thinking about restoring electricity to half of Mississippi eleven years after the disaster.

Anonymous said...

When history is written accurately

Thad Cochran "will go down" as an adulterer

who fooled Mississippi voters for nearly 20 years

about his special relationship with

Kay Webber.

10:50 said, "Just wait until you are represented by some low-ranking junior senator instead of the Chairman of Appropriations." I'll take energy, Integrity and a sharp mind over lethargy, moral indiscretion, and weak mindedness. If only Mississippi could get a senator like Ted Cruz from Texas or Mike Lee from Utah.

6:24, Think about this for a minute. You are thumping your bible calling people sinners because they do not worship the same man you worship. The man you worship is the man who broke the most commandments. Do you remember the one about adultery? There are a few more he broke or bent all to hell.

Anonymous said...

Wow. The judgmental Christians are out in full force on this one. Let all the perfect Christians here judge Senator Cochran and the lady he married. Let all the perfect Christians here judge what a sinner the two of them are while they remain perfectly sinless and perfect. Look, I am a Christian and was raised right here in this state in the Baptist church and I was taught not to judge people because they sin differently than you do. Obviously, many people commenting here missed a couple of Sundays or think they do not sin. Good Lord.

Anonymous said...

... I was taught not to judge people because they sin differently than you do.

Nice twist. How about confession and forgiveness? Whaddya learn about that?

Anonymous said...

11:40, I have noticed that most Christians believe in the confession and forgiveness thing above everything else. They just do not see any need for them to confess and forgive. After all it is the other people who are the sinners.

Anonymous said...

@11:40 I learned plenty about it. I do believe we can be forgiven of all our sins. I have no idea, and guess what, neither do you sport, what Thad has confessed and asked to be forgiven for. Yet you sit right here and judge him to be sooooo much worse than you (and of course, McDaniel). And yes, call it a "twist" or whatever word you can think of but that doesn't change it.

Anonymous said...

That is the part about religion that I do not understand. A Christian can do anything they want to do then say "Sorry about that" and they are right back on the good side. For some reason that does not sound right to me.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
