Attorney General Jim Hood issued the following press release:
Undocumented Raymond Worker Convicted of Identity Fraud
Jackson, Miss.- Irvin Efrahin Mejia-Saavedra, 27, an undocumented worker and citizen of Honduras, has been convicted by a Hinds County jury for fraudulent use of identity, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.
Mejia-Saavedra, who resided in Raymond at the time of his arrest, was found guilty of fraudulent use of identity.
A joint investigation by the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division and Homeland Security Investigations showed that the defendant purchased a fraudulent Social Security card and Tennessee identification card in order to obtain a job at the American Dairyco plant located in Edwards. Mejia-Saavedra was arrested May 28, 2015, while working at the American Dairyco plant, along with eight additional undocumented dairy workers, who were also charged with fraudulent use of identity.
“Crooks who try to con their way into the workforce by stealing the identities and tax dollars of hardworking citizens threatens our nation’s security and we will not tolerate these criminal acts in Mississippi,” said Attorney General Jim Hood. “This case demonstrates the benefit of our great working relationship with Homeland Security Investigations and we appreciate their hard work.”
Hinds County Circuit Court Judge William Gowan has set the sentencing for May 23.
"Fraudulent identity documents pose a grave threat to national security by helping criminals hide in plain sight," said Raymond R. Parmer Jr., Special Agent in Charge of HSI New Orleans. "Stolen identity documents also threaten law-abiding citizens who risk being held responsible for criminal acts committed by aliens possessing stolen documents in their names. This investigation shows ICE Homeland Security Investigations and the Mississippi Attorney General will continue to investigate and seek prosecution of these cases to protect the public."
The case was investigated by Bo Luckey with the Attorney General's Office Consumer Protection Division, assigned to the HSI Task Force and Special Agent John Rackley of Homeland Security Investigations. Prosecution of the case was handled by Special Assistant Attorneys General Patrick Beasley and Alison O'Neal McMinn.

The illegal part is obvious. Is it that the AG was asked specifically if this person was an "illegal" or is it that it was omitted in his statement? I have no problem with immigrants, as the majority of us living here today have some history of immigration. It is those who come in illegally/undocumented, for all the truths in Hood's release. It would probably have been as easy for this person to go through proper channels of documentation or citizenship. I have a heart for those who are trying to better their lives and the lives of their families, and many are coming through the only channels that they know. We have got to have some national leadership that will secure our borders by establishing entry as our families came through, similar to Ellis Island.
To be fair, I think Hood's use of the word "crooks" is adequate.
There's lots of reasons to criticize our AG but this isn't one of them.
I belong to the George Carlin School of English. Why do we change language solely to gratify those who aspire to political correctness or ease the presumed feelings of others? His great example was how the blunt WWI combat phrase "Shell Shock" had became the gentler "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder" during Vietnam.
"Illegal Alien" is neither inaccurate nor a perjorative. Everyone knows what it means in terms of whether a non-citizen is lawfully present in this country. On the other hand, an "undocumented worker" could be a citizen who has lost his license or birth certificate and cannot prove who he is. The term has become so soft as to be almost meaningless.
If you want to use undocumented worker, go ahead. But don't call me prejudiced when I use the more accurate "illegal alien" description.
I wish we could have passed Bush's plan for the temporary worker visa. As much as I hate illegal immigration, someone risking this type of legal trouble in order to just be able to work shows you some kind of determination. Meanwhile we have an entire segment of our society gaming the system to try and get more and more welfare.
There has to be a way to make this work.
"Stolen identity documents also threaten law-abiding citizens who risk being held responsible for criminal acts committed by aliens possessing stolen documents in their names"
“Crooks who try to con their way into the workforce by stealing the identities and tax dollars of hardworking citizens threatens our nation’s security"
"the defendant purchased a fraudulent Social Security card and Tennessee identification card"
So 12:13 p.m. Your bleeding heart is wasted when what they are doing is illegal.
If you really want to know why we have so many illegals in our country do a search and see what happens to the money the govt. collects through tax money collected from the illegals.
If you look at the amount of money in the special fund you can better understand why politicians are not in any hurry to get rid of the illegals. That includes both democrat and republican politicians. You will also see the govt. stopped releasing the amount of money in that special fund several years ago.
Anyone want to know where the money is going to? Imagine a fund with billions of $ in it and no one watching over it and no way for anyone to know where it went.
At least he was trying to work. There are many, too damn many, sucking off the government tit that refuse to stoop so low as to work a job like his. Same goes for the oil field workers who moan and complaint they are out of work and wish gas would go to $5 a gallon. They are out of an over priced job market, but there is work and there are jobs.
12:40, just one thing. Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome can be cause by things other than war so it is a more adequate description than "shell shock". People can get it from any extreme stressful situation. For example watching someone die from a car wreck or having a car wreck, being sexually assaulted or raped, being robbed or threatened etc.
Excuse me, May 13, 2016 at 1:00 PM
I said I had heart, but it is not bleeding. I am wholeHEARTedly against ILLEGAL immigration.
If there was only some way to trade a couple of million of people who will not work for some of those who will risk their life for a job.
This isn't about Post Traumatic Stress; however, it's no longer a syndrome but is now classified as a disorder, thus PTSD. And it's correct that the disorder is not solely associated with military experience.
To the lib who said "At least he was working", your post reminds me of the comment about the bank robber - At least he wanted to feed his family. Bull shit.

I would hate to see Irvin and his 8 friends have to go back to their home country, Hondurus. They seem like nice people. I hope we put them in a nice jail, and the American taxpayers will pay $40,000 a year for lodging, protection, recreation, medical and dental care, food and uniforms.
Each @ $40,000 per annum, is only $360,000 per year. Seems like a small price to help Irvin and his peeps.
1:08, a better idea. Let Irvin and his 8 friends go back to work and send 9 free loading, non tax paying, govt. teat sucking, criminals back to Irvin's country in exchange for them. Just imagine how much tax payers money we will be saving.
Let's have a civil war over semantics!
Politically attacking someone because they are politically correct is as bad as attacking someone because they are politically incorrect!
And, please, let's just round all those who still think it's better to have good manners rather than be rude!
While we're at it, let's also round up anyone who doesn't drink one of the politically party's Kool Aid!
And, then we can all fiddle while Rome is burning!
And, please, let's all increase the usage of exclamation marks !!!!!
If we are really going to be politically incorrect, let's go back to the good old days.
Irish are Micks
Italians are Wops
Polish are Pollacks
Scots are Thistle Arses
French are Frogs
Chinese are Chinks
Japanese are Japs
Germans are Grouts
Oh, we can't leave out religions...
Jews are Heebs, Kikes or Christ Killers
Evangelicals are Bible Thumpers or Holy Rollers
Catholics are Papists
I'm mean, all of these folks would just be oversensitive if they objected, right?
11:39, you seemed to forget the one politically incorrect name most people in Ms. will know about. Is it just an accident or do you know your post would not be shown if you put that one on the list?
A flying saucer has landed and the invasion of the little green men from planet maya has commenced. No word yet on when the mothership will be here, but word on the street is that she isn't too far away hiding somewhere between Central and South America.
The federation of United Galaxies gave them the go ahead as their secret agenda has been in the works for decades while unsuspecting liberals were duped into electing another species of alien from the Galaxy Africana-Planet of origin: Kenya, nearly eight years ago. Shapeshifting illegal aliens for amnesty are indeed running the show, however, they have been wrongly called 'moonbats' for quite sometime which diatracts from the dire reality of Agenda 666 a.k.a mission takeover & exterminate.
1:12 pm It was not an accident. I hoped to remind some folks who now enjoy being " politically incorrect" that once upon a time their identifying group objected to being called names and that's why these pejoratives are seldom heard anymore.
Of course, it also helped that we use to want our children to become ladies or gentlemen and wanted them to be better educated, more cultured and refined.
Now we are teaching our children to be crude, boorish and low class by modeling and defending bad behavior including lying.
I don't think that is turning out well for us. And, I suspect some of you will hate it when your children don't grow up to respect you. Why should they? You're teaching them to be disrespectful and self-centered .One day, their personal convenience and your needs will likely be in conflict. Do remember I warned you.
Do remember I warned you.
Yes, yes, yes we will all remember a warning from a certified anonymous megalomaniac nutjob blog troll.
Is a troll someone you disagree with? I keep reading that people call others a troll. From what I see their only qualifications is that they disagree with that person.
Makes me wonder which one is the real troll.
