Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following press release:
Rankin County Deputies Pursue Ward 3 Felon into Flowood Lake
On Saturday May 28th, 2016, at approximately 10:15 p.m., a Rankin County Deputy was on patrol when he came into contact with a Blue Saturn Ion displaying a paper dealership tag. This vehicle matched the description of a suspect vehicle in a larceny earlier in the day. When the deputy activated his emergency lights, the suspect vehicle began to flee from the deputy. The suspect was driving at high speeds and drove in and out of the median on Old Fannin Road. The vehicle turned onto Flowood Drive and drove onto North Airport Road towards Lakeland Drive. Flowood Police had spike strips set up to disable the vehicle. The suspect saw the Flowood units and turned off the road and crashed through a gate at a business. The vehicle continued to flee and drove on a gravel road and went straight into a small lake. The suspect exited the car while it was sinking. Deputies and Flowood Police ordered the suspect to surrender. The suspect would not comply initially and officers went into the water after him. While officers were moving towards him they saw him take jewelry from his pockets and throw into the water. The suspect next started swimming away from the officers. Officers caught up with him right as he reached the bank. The suspect initially resisted arrest, but was taken into custody by deputies and Flowood Police.

For sale: One slightly used, late model, mid-sized sedan. Slight water damage. No warranty.
Wait, what - the "vehicle continued to flee?" That must be one of those new semi-autonomous Saturns...

Is that in Kenny I-man stokes district??????????
" Creature of the Flowood lagoon "
That's funny.
Hinds County please take note of what will happen to this thug. He wont be back on the streets like "over there". Would have been better had they poured him some new concrete swimming shoes right there on the spot.
There won't be any Rankin county residents on the news tonight complaining about police chases either.
For all you Flowoodians:
I suggest when some one from Jackson gets in a high speed chase in your town, you should use ROCKS, BRICKS, and BOTTLES.

Darwin comes to mind.......
Kenny Stokes is a top grade IDIOT. Yep come to rankin or Madison and we will box you up
The creative title garnered my attention, too.
Why wasn't this swimming hoodlum charged with reckless endangerment, destroying private property (the gate) and trespassing (the lake)? That is a mighty large pair of red alligator eyes glowing in the lake; hence, he is fortunate not to have become the drowning delicacy of the day. Wonder if the officers flipped a coin to see who was going in after the creep.
If we had the one-lake project combined with Stokes's police deal in effect, he coulda swam to Jackson no problem. Too bad. He is a victim of just poor timing politically. People, build the one lake and set this man free.
