The Clinton Police Department issued the following statement:

Clinton, Miss. (April 7, 2016) Clinton Police have arrested an individual identified as a suspect responsible for several residential burglaries on Saturday morning, March 26, 2016.
On
April, 6 2016 at 2249, officers of the Clinton Police Department made a
traffic stop on Clinton Blvd. in Clinton. The passenger fled on foot
and was caught a few minutes later on McDonald Dr. The driver cooperated
with the officers.
The
passenger was identified as Johnathon Jerome Alexander, who was wanted
by the CPD on residential burglary charges from March 26. Alexander is
in CPD custody. He is charged with:
1. Residential Burglary
2. Misdemeanor Eluding or Fleeing
Alexander is a suspect in several other burglaries and more charges may be filed after further investigation and interviews.
Alexander has not been before a Clinton municipal judge and bond has not yet been set.
An outstanding warrant from 2015 was also served on Alexander for Telecommunication Crimes (threatening phone calls).
The MS Dept. of Corrections has placed a hold on him for violation of probation.
Background:
Around
0852 on Saturday, March 26, CPD responded to a report of a forced entry
of a residence in the Woodmoor subdivision. During the home invasion
the suspect gained forced entry to the rear of the residence forcing the
resident to give cash, debit card and PIN number. Victim stated that
the suspect brandished a small handgun as he demanded the personal
belongings.
Witness
reports indicate two black males driving a white passenger vehicle on
the street with one exiting the vehicle and walking around the house
around the time of the robbery.
Earlier in the morning CPD received a call of suspicious activity on Lofty Pine in Woodmoor regarding
a black male who had knocked on her door, asking her if she needed any
yard work done. Witness stated that the man was riding in a white
passenger vehicle.
At 1019 hours a Residential Burglary was reported on Green Oak Cove. The back door was kicked in and the house rummaged through. The victims reported jewelry and cash missing from the master bedroom. Drawers and cabinets were left open. Electronic items were left untouched. No one was home during this incident.
While on scene on Green Oak Cove, Officers were advised of another Residential Burglary on Green Oak Cove. The back door had been kicked to this residence, as well. The victim reported firearms, electronics, cash/coins, and electronics missing. No one was home at the time of this incident.
CPD determined that the vehicle and suspects in the robberies were related. Police describe the suspect vehicle as an early to mid-2000 white Ford Crown Victoria passenger car with aftermarket rims.
Detectives
with the Clinton Police Department obtained search and arrest warrants
for Johnathan Alexander, last known address, Clinton, MS for residential
burglary with additional charges pending.
