What story is told by these pictures?

Correction: >This post contained two pictures of Mr. Shackelford and a female. JJ misidentified her as Mrs. Thomas. JJ has other pictures of Mrs. Thomas and the women are similar in features. Apologies to Lindsey Thomas and Mr. Shackelford.  The removal of the pictures obviously changes the nature of the story.  We make a mistake on this website, we own up to it and don't bury it on the bottom of page B-18 in fine print.

Journalistus Maximus Jerry Mitchell reported that Madison County Constable Matt Shackleford might have engaged in some questionable behavior.  The story appeared on the front page of the Sunday edition of the Clarion-Ledger.  The article included a picture of the constable holding up a funny-looking plant.  It is not known if he is indeed a horticulturist or has an affinity for plants of the distinctive green-leaf variety.  The story then questioned his actions and relationship with the wife of Lindsey Kirkland Thomas.  Mr. Shackelford arrested Raymond Ethan Thomas after Mrs. Thomas filed charges against him.  The constable later arrested Mr. Thomas for allegedly stalking him as well.  The charges were later dismissed or remanded.   The couple is seeking a divorce.  Mr. Mitchell only posted one picture in his article.  However, JJ obtained more pictures which may tell the Rest of the story.

Mr. Mitchell mentioned a Facebook posts endorsing the constable for re-election:

According to the report, the informant said Shackelford grew marijuana and that “the aquarium and lights were to ‘cover’ him in the event narcotics agents questioned him about his abnormally high power bill.”

Shackelford denied this claim and denied he used any recreational drugs.

Brooks obtained photographs of Shackelford’s constable car at Pop’s Around the Corner, a south Jackson bar, at 3:25 a.m. on May 3. (KF note: The car is the constable's personal property. It is NOT a county-owned vehicle.)

The private investigator said he turned over his report to Madison County authorities. They, in turn, gave the report to the attorney general’s office.

In a Sept. 23 deposition in the divorce case, Shackelford testified he used his constable car for both professional and personal purposes.

Under questioning, he acknowledged Thomas’ estranged wife worked on his campaign.
On Facebook, she urged people to give. “Constable Shackelford is an invaluable asset to Madison County,” she wrote. “He (along with a few wonderful deputies) went above and beyond the call of duty to help me in a tough time that would have been much worse without the dedication and kindness shown by the Constable and others.”

She concluded, “There is NO ONE better suited for the job.”

Then there are pictures of these funny little green plants:

and there is also a picture of some type of outdoor activity.  Nothing like communing with the same nature that arose the religious sentiment in Emerson and Thoreau.

Stay tuned. This story is probably going to have more chapters.

Yawnnnn. I hope you are saving the good stories for when folks return to work and read this blog

Methinks Kingfish felt his britches burning over the accusations of cheap journalism and supposition, which were the centerpieces of the prior thread on this same subject. So, he went about the business of totally rewriting it.

So, what we have here is NO STORY and a weak attempt to turn it into A STORY. The real story here is the sudden alliance between Jerry Mitchell and Kingfish. Will the new year bring an unholy alliance with Bill Minor as well?

I don't look for this post to pass muster, however.

Since when is someone's 'power bill' any business of the State Narcotics Folks. Say it with me....'nunna they bidness'.

I'm sure Kingfish, with his many investigative talents and contacts could come up with copies of my Entergy bill.

Don't get distracted, KF. Thomas is the sociopath here. Stay balanced. Stay focused. This Shackleford guy is probably at powertripping, pothead, dipping his pen where he shouldn't, and he should be canned and maybe prosecuted. But Thomas is the true menace to society here.

So the bottom pic his him smoking weed??? This master P.I. did great work, NOT! Remind me not to use him. What zero grade evidence.

So you posted some pictures of plants in cups. Big deal! How does that attach to the constable? Poor journalism! That's probably you holding those cups. Oh look, a hand! It must be Constable Shackelford! PA-LEASE!

I love the pic of Matt blazing with the poodle! Puff puff pass man, puff puff pass!! I also thought it was pretty funny to see weed growing in a Madison County Sheriffs Dept cup lol. Bet Randy Ticker is loving that!

"What's a little weed" sorry you don't find this article interesting, but as a citizen of Ridgeland and as someone who unknowingly voted for Shackelford in the past, I take great issue with an elected official, that we put our trust in to uphold the law, behaving in such a criminal manor. The guy has obviously been having an inappropriate relationship with this married women, not to mention the fact that Shackelford himself is still currently married to his third wife. The charges he filed and arrested this guy for, we're obviously bogus, that's why they were dropped, now he has marijuana plants in his house, that he "doesn't remember". Sorry as voter and citizen of Madison Co I care a lot more about that, than some guy that wrote a bad check in another state. The only people that find this story boring are those who have probably never voted in their lives. I care about what the people we put in office and our trust in to lead, are behaving like criminals.

The hack Mitchell did not even mention the frame drug job the insane Thomas guy did on Clay Holder at MSU. Almost sounds sympathetic to the trash head.

That was a Madison County Schools cup. The whole damned thread should be taken down, not just the inaccurate photos upon which the NEW thread was based. So, what we have now is two irrelevant and poorly based threads about the same non-subject, both dripping with innuendo, supposition and opinion.

The man says he don't know what kind of plant is growing in his house. Common sense should tell people that a person does not take that much care of a plant that they do not know what it is. Could be poison ivy. Don't sound like a man who could be trusted with a gun or trusted to be any type of law officer.

I was commenting on the picture that had multiple plants in it. The fact that you pointed out the Madison County school District cup is probably worse than the sheriffs department cup. There's two stories here one about the Thomas guy in one about a dirty constable. I didn't vote for Thomas I voted for Shackleford, which is why I feel so betrayed. There is 100% no doubt that a man that admits a picture comes from his house, in his den, that it is him in the picture, and he is holding a green leafy plant that looks like marijuana, yet he doesn't know what kind of plant it is, says IT's MARIJUANA! If it was any other plant he would've said exactly what it was, case closed, period, end of point. The fact that the fish tank is the same one that is in the picture with all the same little plants, that the same "hand" is showing, would leave anybody with two brain cells to conclude that it's Matt Shackleford. Stop trying to talk about the other guy on here, there's a different thread for that, this thread is about an individual that we foolishly elected to serve our best interest, not knowing that he was a criminal the whole time.

Horace Greely II lol great cover name! Unfortunately Horace Greely II was famous alright, he died soon after the Civil War! He was a journalist for the New York Tribune lol. I think we know who posted this and he was probably to high to have picked a living nonfamous name to use as a cover.

Listen girls, when a local psychopath who's been discussed here before ends up crossing paths with a dirty constable who ends up unjustly arresting said psychopath (oh, the irony!), it's blogworthy. Too bad if the Thomas and Shackleford families (commenting above) disagree. And, yes, Mitchell got lazy here and missed a lot of colorful items in Thomas' past.

Blah blah blah! Next story please!

Charges were remanded based on conditions that Thomas must follow for several years.

It seems the constable and our DA might have something in common.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
