First Citizen Phil Bryant issued the following statement:
Gov. Bryant Declares State of Emergency for Severe Weather
JACKSON—Gov. Phil Bryant has issued a State of Emergency this morning following severe storms and tornadoes that moved through the state last night.
The State of Emergency is an administrative tool that allows local governments to request state assistance to assist with response and recovery associated with these storm systems.
Damage is being reported in at least seven counties, Benton, Coahoma, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Prentiss and Tippah with more than 40 injuries and at least six deaths.
"Deborah and I send our thoughts and prayers to the families who have lost a loved one, those who are injured, and those who will now have to rebuild," Gov. Bryant said. "The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety are continuing their disaster operations to get resources to the most heavily affected areas. Mississippians are resilient in difficult times, and we will meet this challenge head on for those that are in need.”
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency will provide updates as information becomes available. The best way to get up-to-date information during this event is to “Like” MEMA on Facebook, or “Follow” them on Twitter.

He's pa-thetic. Why does he keep saying "Deborah and I..." He's the %#?€ing Gubner, not her. The people (stupidly) elected him, not him and Deborah. So over him & his bs. He should just say, "Frontiers and I...." Sad excuse for a Gubner.
Always one sicko like 11:44 AM who will beat the path to negativity over the misfortune of others. Here's hoping Santa takes a dump in your stocking loser.
I agree with 11:44. Phil blows hot air & stuffs his pockets. I do, however, pray for the people injured of affected by the tornados. So sad.
I'm conservative and definitely not a democrat, but I'm not a big fan of Phil either; however, make some constructive critical comments instead of attacking his manner of mourning storm victims. This shouldn't be the subject of anything but sympathy and help for these people ravaged on the eve of a joyous holiday. Shame on you. Some parents are burying a 7 year old instead of celebrating a Santa visit tomorrow. Cretins.
Good LORD how many times did Haley bring up Marsha?
Get over your very small self @11:44.
Haley is the BONAFIDE worst than Beef Plant "Gubner".
11:44 Since you feel that way about the governor and obviously the majority who elected him, why don't you consider a move? Maybe to Chicago or Detroit or some other Democrat utopia.
Beware of 11:44. He's thinkin of a Redneck Jihad!
Settle down Frontiers. He'll still be giving you a cut. Just chill. It's Christmas.
