Ole Cruz Eyes is back!!!

Department of Public Safety Commissioner Santa Cruz told employees this week that he was asked to serve another four years by Governor Phil Bryant.

What does he have on Phil?

On his best day Commissioner Santa Cruz is a poor excuse for a leader, and his ineptitude has been an embarrassment for the state. Let's start a list of all of the (preventable) bullshit that's happened under his watch.

The Department of Public Safety needs a new, modern vision and a reexamination of its mission...keeping Santa Cruz will ensure this will never happen (at least for another 4 years).

What a disappointment and wasted opportunity.

What's the big deal? This is only over-shadowed by the recent appointment of the judge to head up the child welfare division. Bryant's appointments have nothing to do with qualifications, fit for the position or vision for the department. Yet, on the other hand, who the hell knows why he makes these decisions! I reckon his answer would be, "Because I can!"

This is absurd. Just a disappointment for the entire agency.

Kingfish, Are you afraid of Marshall Fisher? You never print anything regarding him or MDOC. what does he have on you?

Every single legislator in leadership wants Cruz gone. He is an embarrassment to the state. It's time for Phil to step aside.

Why doesn't Kingfish contact Phil's new mouthpiece and get a couple of comments on this subject for publication here. Isn't that what a reasonable 'correspondent' would do?

Kingfish said...

I did. No one would call me back to comment.

If true that is totally disappointing. Cruz was done 20 years ago and does not need to be the leader of the State Investigated/ police force. He leads Mississippi Homeland Security, Fusion Center, crime lab etc but doesnt turn on a computer or do email. Berry is going out and so does Santa Cruz. Hopefully Tate will grow a pair and not confirm him if he gets sent up.

So...first terms are generally for consensus building and making good on smaller promises -- second terms are more focused on legacy building. So Phil's public safety legacy will be that of an ineffective DPS Commissioner, an idiot Homeland Security Director and the continuation of a good 'ole boy culture of operating a $100 Million agency.

C'mon Phil, you can do better.

The linchpin of Bryant's henchmen, have their reasons.
Why don't you call Josh Gregory?

Soo Cruz is 74 years old , uneducated and only wants to watch old Westerns in his office but he's asked to stay? Shame on Phil!!! Cruz makes over $140,000 and has a GED and does not know how to turn on a computer! Why would our Governor want such a large agency, an agency that has such a large budget and many employees and is so important , be led by an incompetent old man who does not care about anything and does not know what agencies fall under his umbrella of Public Safety?
This is a disgrace !, Wow Phil , who do you owe??? Shame on you!
Hey Stacy!! Why aren't you going after Gayle Mills??she stole more than the Terry mayor and Berry and Cruz allowed it !

Will he have to get confirmed by Senate? Would be interesting.

Anonymous said...

Cruz will not have to be confirmed again. He is a will and pleasure appointment of the Governor and is not appointed for a term (i.e. 6 years). Therefore, the Senate does not get another bite at that apple. Too bad, though - as 10:00 says, that would be interesting.

Albert Earl is the best driver Phildo has ever had. He never repeats what he hears about the no bid emergency contracts that are negotiated in the back seat of the Govs car.

I agree with above and wonder why Pickering has tried Gayle Mills. Seems like anyone associated with DPS just gets a slap on the wrist. I always assumed that its because of all the DUI's that they fix for friends in government.

Well Phils last driver will replace Berry when he leaves at the first of the year. I guess the fastest way to the top is drive the car for a govenor.

Harder to bust someone when the higher ups are running interference for that person.

He will have to be confirmed again.

The post about mdoc and Marshall fisher make no sense without the context that his people have been predicting Cruz will retire and fisher will go to Public Safety.

Hahahahahahaha! This is great. Tater gets to have his nose rubbed in Santa Cruz for four more years.

9:33 totally agree but most of Phil's appointments are not based on education, experience or knowledge. Fisher is a joke and has continued the Epps regime and is to dumb to realize Epps still runs his department from the outside. Stop and think how long Phil left Epps in place while everyone advised him wrong doing was going on. The chair of the Parole Board possesses none of the qualifications that Phil stated to the Clarion Ledger was a must for the individual who would chair that board when he appointed McMillin. The members of the Board completely let individuals out based on who their attorneys are rather than what is in the best interest of the safety of the public. What more do you expect from someone who ran for re election based on what a great first lady his wife is not what he had done for this state.

Phil gets money from Cruz oil man. So the hole bunch needs to go.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
