Madison Mudfight

Teeth gnashed, tempers flared, and the heavens rumbled with thunderous debate yet in the end, nothing happened at the special meeting of the Madison County Board of Supervisors yesterday.  It is not known if any clothes were rent. Chancery Clerk Ronnie Lott was probably giving thanks  that he was no longer a supervisor every minute.   The Madison County Journal reported:

A Republican county supervisor who represents most of Madison and Gluckstadt sided with a Canton Democrat on Monday in a so-far-unsuccessful attempt to oust the attorney for the county Election Commission in the midst of an election challenge. Debate resumes Thursday at 9 a.m.

District 2 Supervisor John Howland, the Madison Republican, voted with District 5 Supervisor Paul Griffin, the Canton Democrat, to fire Spence Flatgard during a special-called meeting Monday morning.

District 1 Supervisor John Bell Crosby and District 3 Supervisor Gerald Steen, both Republicans from Madison and Ridgeland respectively, voted to stop the termination brought to them by the Election Commission.

District 4 Supervisor Karl Banks, a Democrat, was forced to recuse himself from the vote because he is currently challenging the election he lost to Madison Republican David Bishop in November. (Howland was defeated by Madison's Trey Baxter. Crosby was defeated by Madison's Sheila Jones.)

With Banks' ouster, the newly-elected supervisors who take office in January have said they have a solid 4-1 Republican majority.

After neither side budged on separate 2-2 votes to either adjourn the Monday meeting or to continue, Banks came back in and voted in favor of continuing the meeting until Thursday.

The hour-long meeting involved much back-and-forth, with Griffin the leading proponent to terminate Flatgard. Rest of article.
Thursday should be fun.

Howland's check is in the mail.

Scorched earth exit by Howland. Sore loser.

Unless they buy Crosby off nothing is going to happen....is a 2/2 tie which means the attorney keeps his job and the election commission sucks hind teats.

The residents of Howlands district need to be blowing his phones up and keep blowing them up every day until the county takes them from him.

The Ds in Madison county have hurt this area for 40+ years and could always find a third vote. that time may be finally gone

Banks wants to take control of the Election Commission to attempt to overthrow the election. They will try to recertify in Bank's favor.

Do not put ANYTHING past this man. He has zero integrity.

Where is Rudy?

All this over a $40K per year job .........
Makes you wonder ...

Take a look at what the dubious, devious, and dumb Democrat Election Commissioners were up to today:
http://onlinemadison.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=31090

What's the legal recourse for the citizens of Madison County? Can we oust these idiots before their terms run out?

Way more than 40K a year job at stake. There's county Tahoe with fuel man card to ride in, county provided phone, ipad, health insurance for numerous family members employed by the county, the prestige of being an elected official, the shame of losing the election, losing Rudy's brown envelopes, all the county work for his son's dirt business. I'm sure there are many many more perks.

Bout damned time Kingfish found out what's happening in Madison County. We need a break from cap-poppin' in Hinds and Jacktown infrastructure.

Is JBC holding out for a larger brown envelope?

Anonymous said...

JBC took the high road and did the honorable thing in voting against Banks' measure. Maybe Howland will have a come to Jesus moment soon and see the light of responsible behavior. But probably NOT. He's never had an original thought or made an independent decision. His actions are controlled by Rudy.

Howland has only gone to 2 or 3 BOS meetings since he lost the election. He turned in his Madison County truck soon thereafter. So the question is, why would this guy get into the fight, when usually he tucks tail and runs.

Kimberly, John Howland's wife must be red with embarrassment about her husband's actions. How does she ever look Joe Nosef in the face. Oh that's right, Joe is her Watkins Eager law partner, who also happens to be the Mississippi GOP head honcho.

Ohhhh, maybe that's the reason. Is the MSGOP heading this whole thing up? But why? So Madison County will give them business? Karl knows where the bodies are buried? John Howland can be bought, cheaply? What or What can it be.

So don't anyone rush to call for the GOP to get involved, and straighten up this mess.......nope, don't call at all.

7:24. Kimberley is across the street at Wise Carter.

In John's defense he did suffer a heart attack around Thanksgiving which is probably one of the reasons for not showing up at board meetings.

You've hit the tip jar, right?

Anonymous said...

Then maybe John should stay home completely as the motion would have been voted down 2-1.

If in fact Howland did have a heart attack 'around Thanksgiving', I'm sorry about that. However, did he anticipate the heart attack and avoid meetings between the day he was defeated and the day of the attack?

Nice try.

This is the same guy (never elected) whose vote swung a cash payment to a woman who was not entitled to one in the first place. The guy canNOT turn around his thinking cap. He HAS no thinking cap.

@6:18

His thinking cap is Rudy!!! Did you not know?

Howland was hand picked by Banks and Warnock to rubber stamp every crooked deal they brought to the table. He has no integrity and will again try to fire Flatgard tomorrow. Warnock got his money's worth with Howland

Let's not overlook the role of the Blackmons in this circus. While some think Rudy is the only Puppet-Master, there is also Barbara Blackmon (who got Pallascene Cole appointed) and Bennie ain't too far off in the background. Root-Rot runs deep.

So... Banks just voted to fire the competent lawyer of the committee that he is suing.

Who/what group oversees the procedures / ethics of Madison County BOS?

Mad Watch said...

The measure passes and the old attorney was fired and a new one hired this morning. Neither Crosby nor Steen showed up. Howland and Griffin voted to replace the attorney and, in drama fit for television, Banks voted nay, which resulted in the decision being made by a 2-1 vote in favor of termination.

Madison County surpasses all expectations. Move over Stokes and Lt. Graham.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
