Update: Indictment added below. This post was first published 6:08 PM yesterday.
A Madison County Grand Jury indicted "Constitutional Clayton" Kelly on one count of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, and one count of conspiracy to commit burglary.
Clayton Kelly and attorney Kevin Camp |
The Madison County Sheriff's Office served the indictment on Mr. Kelly late this afternoon. It is not known if he is still in custody. Bond was $75,000 ($25,000 per count.). The maximum penalty is 25 years for the burglary charges and 5 years for the conspiracy charge.

More of an inexcusably stupid, inexcusably tasteless, inexcusably thoughtless, attempted political prank than anything like traditional criminal burglary. Although I despise what inspired this (McDaniel's candidacy), I really hope the Judge will not ruin his life over this. He's probably learned his lesson by now. Show him some mercy, Madison, not overkill. We've already had that.
As an attorney, it looks like Mayfield knew what he was facing and took the easy way out.
As soon as CM steps back and says it's time for unity, the less attention this gets and a wrist slap can suffice. Until then CC is carrying more of the load than CM. Sad. CM could fix this but he won't because it's all about CM. Heads up to the rest of the clones.
Mayfield had stuff on his computer that was going to be more problems for him besides this.

How do you know LOSER?
Dumb ass should have taken a plea.
Yep. Who doesn't?
"Mayfield had stuff on his computer that was going to be more problems for him besides this.

His clients sure moved on in a hurry.
If he thinks he's innocent of charges, why plea out?
/if he gets a fair trail, he will walk away. But this is Mississippi and that makes it a corrupt toss up at best.
So I have to ask what the hell is Thad talking about fighting for Mississippi? Common core BS? Ad is a bit over the top containing no message.
Way over pled by the DA.

Maybe that is why his family did not sue the Madison Police Department like they said they were going to do.
Perfect timing to draw attention to Senator Geriatric's non-campaign.
Keep swinging at Thad you CM losers. It over any your lack of true conviction will allow Childers to win. I hope Clayton doesnt get a wrist slap. He committed a crime along with Mayfield. Obviously wish Mayfield would have not done what he did because I am sure it ripped his family apart. But if these and other CM supporters were honorable and thought they could win purely based on the strength of the campaign none of this would happen.
After Childers wins - then we will know who the losers are...

WAKE UP!! WAKE UP!! It's 8:45!! You've overslept. You're dreaming!!
I believe McDaniels and his supporters will give childers the win. They proudly proclaim they will vote for him just to beat Thad. That is why they lost and will continue to be losers. Even now tea baggers are seeing that the term tea party is damaged goods so they are forming the Conservative Party in Rankin County.
Hey Jim Bill, you do realize that people don't usually sue someone immediately after something happens to them. That's why there's something called a statute of limitations, to allow injured parties to prepare and build a case.
If Childers wins they'll be winners and Cochran will be the loser. It will be a tough loss for the Dixiecrats but they'll get over it in due time.
The really sad part of this is that Mayfield manipulated this young man to do this. Kelly has pulled through so much in his life. He overcame numerous obstacles and now this. The powerful in Mississippi want to put on a show trial. How dare anyone question the powerbrokers that profit from the billions of federal dollars handed out as patronage. He should be charged with a misdemenor.
US Supreme Court Justice Eric Holder. Get used to saying that if Childers wins.
Mayfield was out on bond on felony charges. The Madison PD had the right to knock on his front door AT ANY TIME. That's is probably why they haven't sued.

You are so right, but remember they are Conservatives!!! Really?
Hello! Personal Injury Trial Lawyers are Liberal Democrats.
McDaniel has bamboozled the Tea Party.
Funny how it all just worked out that the indictment occurs the day before CM goes before the supreme court...just bad luck I guess...and maybe one of you genius lawyers can explain how the conspiracy was to exploit a vulnerable person, the conspiracy comes to fruition but there are no exploitation charges...also, if someone gives me their tickets to the state fair have I burglarized the fairgrounds? But I guess it doesn't matter, this case has served its purpose.

Maybe the family finally understood that he was out on bail in Madison. Madison PD had the right to check on him any time, anywhere.
"Childers agrees to anti-amnesty pledge"
More importantly, will he pledge to vote for a conservative (i.e., a Republican) majority leader?
I could care less about his meaningless pledge on anti-amnesty. That is small potatoes in what is really at stake in this election. If Harry Reid is left in control of the Senate because Tea Party folks put Childers in, they deserve what they get, more Harry Reid. It that happens, they should turn in their "conservative ID cards."
pappy, read closely. the conspiracy count is to accomplish burglary, not exploitation.
the attempted burglary and actual burglarys were done with the intent to commit exploitation. when you break into someone's dwelling, one of the elements is to commit any crime, even a misdemeanor, once inside3.
the case was indicted properly according to the apparent facts.
Kevin Camp needs to keep a lower profile or those Madison County Judges will stomp on his ...... well, you can insert your own noun. Seriously, he's afoul of the pretrial publicity rule already.
Harry Reid isn't what is wrong with Mississippi but Haley Barbour and his ventriloquist dummy Thad Cochran sure as hell are.
Burglary? What burglary? He was admitted to the property and arguably took a photograph from the hallway of the property to which he was admitted. What was burgled? This is not the first or last time somebody has admitted to trumped up charges while under the glaring lightbulb of shoe-squeezing.
..and arguably took a photograph from the hallway of the property to which he was admitted.
From the hallway? First time I've heard that version.......
From the hallway? Guess you didn't see the picture - taken from straight above the bed. Guess he had robotic arms that stretched inside. Nice try at spinning - but since it fails on the face of it, why don't you go back and hide under the same rock as Melanie.
