Madison police issued the following press release. The school is CLEAR.
On
October 17, 2014 at 11:45am, officers of the Madison Police Department
responded to Madison Central High School located at 1417 Highland Colony
Parkway. An office worker at the school
received a phone call from an unidentified individual concerning a possible
explosive device at the school. The
school officials proceeded with their normal protocol and the school was
evacuated without incident. The students
were moved to a safe location while officers on the scene began the
investigation into the origin of the phone call. The Mississippi Highway Patrol and Pearl
Police Department responded to the scene and the school was cleared with the
aid of K9s from the respective departments.
At 2:35pm, the search of the school was completed and the students were
allowed to return to class. The Madison Police Department is working with
Federal and State agencies to determine the origin of the phone call and to
identify the individual or individuals responsible for the incident.
