Jackson Mayor Tony Yarber issued the following press release:
(Jackson, MS) –
Mayor Tony Yarber’s second stop on the “We Are Jackson Listening
Tour” will be Monday, June 30 at 6 p.m. at the Ice House, 251 W. South
St. The topic will be the city’s proposed Entertainment District.
Yarber will be joined
by city department representatives and others. The public is encouraged to
attend to offer ideas and suggestions about developing the district.
The tour is a series
of town hall meetings in various locations to discuss topics of interest to
Jackson citizens and business and community leaders.
Kingfish note: Suggestion to the Mayor. Get the legislature to revoke the option to lease given to Full Spectrum. These clowns will never develop the area. Jackson doesn't need Old Capitol Green. 35% vacancy rate downtown. Last thing we need to build is more office space. Its time to pull the last plug on Full Spectrum and just sell off the properties on Commerce Street. Then give Commerce Street resort status. No grants, no loans, just change the rules a little. Proper function of government.

well said, Kingfish...just common sense!
Audit Ben. Nuff Said.
Focus on the residential future of downtown and allow the entertainment district to develop organically. Nothing entertaining comes from faking.
So, now we have the plan. Organic development. That seems to be what happened along highway 80 in Pearl. Take a ride. Enjoy.
And Millie Vanilli would argue your concluding point.
I'm waiting on the plan for the "world class schools" that he campaigned on.
