Cochran pulled out Rankin 50%-49% after being down most of the night in that county. McDaniel: 49.6%. Cochran, 48.9%. Carey, 1.6% Looks like we are going to a runoff. Yes, a runoff. Why? Because you people couldn't make up your minds, that's why. ;-) Yes, you really do deserve this. Election will be June 24. Here is the video of State Senator Chris McDaniel's speech last night:
There is no video of Senator Cochran as he did not speak to the crowd.

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

After Cochran loses, who thinks he will move back to mississippi to be with his family? Anyone? Bellerophon? Anyone?
Now how is Thad supposed to get votes if he doesn't show his face? You can't hide from cameras in your home state and expect people to be able to relate to you.
I don't really like the tea party, but I'm starting to loose what respect I had for Thad.
Come off the high horse and get your fingers dirty!!!
This is politics, not a mr. Congeniality contest.
And if it were, you'd still have to face the crowd!
It was past Thad's bedtime so they sent in Harper. Dumb move. If it were me, I'd be cutting a new ad on how Thad was physically unable to address his supporters on ELECTION NIGHT.
"Cochran didn't speak." 'Nuff said. Has he spoken even once during the campaign? Apparently, he's a sad shell of the man he used to be, urged to run and propped up by people who've used him for their own personal benefit.
Sit down and shut up, Butler Snow.
This good news for the Tea Party candidate is gonna hairlip Childers.
Con Clayton missed the real story. It's not why is Mrs Cochran in a nursing home. It's why ISNT Thad Cochran in a nursing home. Can the man talk for 3 minutes without sounding lost?
Went to Ag Museum photo op on Monday.
The staging was embarrassing.
He can't get his fingers dirty 6:35 AM.
He's out of gas.
It is obvious.
His children or Kay should step in and stop this. Seriously
Thad doesn't deserve this.
He's given all. Enough.
Just think. If McDaniel wins there will now be two major political players in Mississippi who will have no heartburn telling Gallo to go screw himself. Other being Tate. Maybe Gallo can get some Supertalk love going with Childers.
6:35 am Thad has been " showing his face" with a large turnout.
I've seen him speak 3 times.
Indeed, he warned supporters early on this was going to be a dirty campaign and he planned to take the " high road" as long as possible. But, he warned us, the outside money supporting McDaniel would likely go dirty as they had in other states.
And, if you weren't so politically naïve, you'd know one of the tactics of The Tea Party paid operatives is to show up at the opponents speaking engagements if they get much warning and yell them down. And, another is to accost them on the street.
They did this kind of thing in my state of birth to good effect and it worked because of naïve people like you and the idiot who wonders if Thad will " come home".
Why should he " come home" to such ingratitude for his service to this State and his country? One of your candidates actually SERVED his country in uniform and the McDaniel COULD have but didn't ! McDaniel had finished law school in 1997 so he could have signed up to serve his country when we were attacked on 9/11. Macho man showing off his rifle was hunting deer, not terrorists!
This is who you think will " fight" for you?
And there's the Second Hand Rose albatross around Thad's neck. Thad's "gone foreign." Rose and Thad exchanged wedding vows on 6JUN1964.
BTW, "Goil"=Girl.
Not a McDaniels supporter at all, but the fact that Thad didn't even show up to his own election party and speak to his voters is just shady to me. Then to have Gregg come out and do it, when he should have been at his own victory party, is just shady. Folks, it's truly the lesser of two evils in this and I'm pissed that this isn't over. While I don't want some cut every freaking thing hothead representing me in Washington, I also don't want someone who people should allow to go home, rest, fish and whatever he wants to do on his time. This is a hot mess and I will just be glad when it's over!
If Thad wins the runoff, I don't believe McDaniel supporters will have trouble voting for him. You may think he is too old, or spends too much, but he's much much better than a Democrat. On the other had, I am trying to visualize Haley, Harper, Bryant, etc campaigning for McDaniel. They are good Republicans. He would be their nominee. They should get behind him 100%. I hope they can.
Well, the protest voters appear to be up early. Or maybe the nocturnal ones are up late. It's not so much the extended campaign I'm unhappy about, it's the three more weeks of piss, vinegar, and general vitriol from McDaniel voters who would complain if they found a $20 bill on the ground because Andrew Jackson, a Democrat, is on its face.
I'm hoping for a Cochran win more today than I was yesterday so that you people will go back to the Deep Web where you came from and let the rest of us go back to our fulfilling, prosperous lives. What have y'all been doing here all these weeks anyway? I thought you tried to live your lives off the grid.
Here is an article talking about Thad and his interacting with people at campaign functions. And he couldn't even come out and speak last night? Not looking good for him, no way he's up for 3 more weeks of campaigning. I can't imagine him being up to fighting for my rights or interests either, as a primary caregiver for someone the same age I find the propping up and using Thad disgusting. They should let him retire.
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2014/06/thad-cochran-the-last-of-the-naive-republicans/372084/
7:47,
Who's fighting for Thad? Gregg Harper?
These comments about Thad not speaking are completely unfair. I have been so inspired by his "I'm Thad Cochran and I approved this message." That proves he can still speak in coherent sentences. Come on.
On another note, McDaniel would be smart to pound away for a debate by saying if Thad can't speak up for his record to the voters how can he stand up for mississippi in Washington.
Gonna be a fun 3 weeks!
Cochran not at the podium---thought I was the only one who thought that was odd.
Cochran did speak to a reporter from WaPo at a campaign stop. Unfortunately for Cochran’s handlers, he called Obamacare, “an example of an important effort by the federal government to help make health care available, accessible and affordable.” “I’m glad to be involved in that effort,” Cochran added.
The handlers found out about it when everybody got back on the bus and told the reporter---oh, he didn’t know you were talking about Obamacare.
Also in the same interview: “Cochran said he is running because others encouraged him to seek another term. ‘I thought it was time for me to retire,’ he said. ‘I thought I’d served long enough.. . . But people were saying, what are we going to do without you?’”
Mr. Cochran should have retired. That's what he wanted but his handlers wouldn't allow it. And Cochran didn't stand up to his handlers. He will do exactly what they tell him to do.
I will not vote to reelect Cochran.
What's naive June 4, 2014 at 7:47 AM is thinking your comment here at JJ will get any traction at all by calling readers "naive". Get over yourself.
Three more weeks for McDaniel to stick his foot in his mouth and prove he is a lightweight.
Cochran is toast. He will definitely lose a runoff but he may not even make it that far. On the radio this morning, Gov. Phil Bryant said there are approximately 18,000 absentee ballots outstanding. What are the chances that Chris McDaniel leads among those absentee voters by at least 10,000 to 8000? I think the chances are high and if that happens, there is no runoff. McDaniel wins out right. We then get to watch with amusement as Wicker lurches to the right and Gregg Harper (a.k.a. John Boehner's pet) gets himself a legitimate challenger in two years.

um, @ 6:30 AM.It would be fun to watch Grandpa Thaddeus " move his family " ( Kay Webber) back to Mississippi when he looses. I wonder how he would 'splain her to the chirens?
Let Thad go out with our gratitude and let him retire with dignity.
I don't mind Greg being his replacement until the next election.
I mind very much someone who panders to our worst elements going to Washington especially when I see that the Tea Party has accomplished nothing other than to cause international embarrassment and lose our bond rating. If the later hadn't happened our deficit would nearly be erased and we'd be on track to reduce debt.
I'll vote for Childers. I won't enjoy it, but rather a conservative Democrat than someone whose sense of honor and truthfulness I seriously question.
No man of honor allows others to behave dishonorably in his name and express no anger or outrage. man of honor deliberately lies and misleads "the people" he claims to love. And NO Christian can believe the end justifies the means.
McScandalous or McSleazy or McSinister, McSlanderous or my favorite, McDevious...this is not a man of the people , this is a man who will say or do anything to win and get his nose very brown to do it.

8:05 -- The Establishment Republicans MIGHT prop up McDaniel if he wins, but those 50% who supported Thad might have a hard time voting for McDaniel. Either way, many might not vote for him in the general election by (1) just not casting a ballot for Senator OR (2) we vote Childers -- that's McDaniel's problem. I CAN vote on an older man who has integrity like Cochran and a RECORD -- what does McDaniel have -- 2 terms in the MS Senate. I CANNOT nor WILL I vote on a man like McDaniel. He looses the seat and POTENTIALLY control of the US Senate, because he cannot gain support from the 50% who cringe when he speaks. 8:34 -- once again the TP people are out in force bullying and chastising with superiority! 7:47's comments were spot on --- Sadly -- no one understands that NO ONE, except the NATIONAL TP have endorsed McDaniel -- the real question is WHY???? Is everyone in the state of MS - WRONG - and everyone in FL, IA, NJ, CA, NY........the list goes on and on with TP support -- RIGHT?? Peel back the onion. Everyone wants to say that Thad is a spender........well, interestingly, WHO has spent more money on this race............I'd Say the TP!
Where WAS Thad last night???? I'm sure he had been asleep since 8pm or so. I think you should show your face if you are in the election! The news mentioned that he might not have wanted to run again anyway.....and him not being seen on TV last night proved that point. Oh joy....another 3 weeks of pure HELL.....
I'm imagining what went down in that hotel room last night. Thad was angry. He was furious at the people who talked him into running again. They told him it would be easy, that his opponent was a joke, that they would "hand him his head".
Thad deserved a dignified send off, an end to his proud career. Instead, he was livid that the Barbours put him and his family through this public hell, only to find Mississippi has had enough of him.
Maybe that's why he refused to come out of his room.
Thad's campaign has been the political equivalent of "Weekend at Bernies". They have propped him up and pushed him through for their own reasons. A man who does not or can not take to the podium on election night to speak to his supporters needs to not be a consideration. Hell, just send Greg Harper if Thad pulls it out. Really kinda sad that he was not allowed to retire on his own. The Cochran camp better be glad CM stumbled so many times and had real dumb people running his show or we would not be talking runoff.
...and let the rest of us go back to our fulfilling, prosperous lives.
Yeah, yours sounds bitterly wonderful. LOL
McDaniel will accomplish nothing and the state will suffer as a result. I'm sure the GOP standard bearers were up late trying to decide whom their/our next GOP candidate will be. My guess is Tater, a career politician and wingman for Haley.
Thad and Chris are both turds. But at least, Chis is a new turd. Retain no incumbents. Thad voted for the NDAA and other legislation that eviscerates our civil liberties. Plus, he voted for the 2013 Balanced Budget Act (approved funding for the Affordable Care Act).
The Tea Party is the rights version of Kenneth Stokes. Makes a lot of noise and controversy but never gets stuff done. On the lighter side tea party candidates are entertaining (in the same way that Honey Boo Boo is entertaining) and almost make C-span watchable. #Crazy
I didn't vote yesterday because:
1. I was busy, and
2. Couldn't make up my mind. Didn't really like any.
I try to stay mildly informed. Not near as informed as some of the experts on here.
Two things overcame me in the last several hours that sway me to show up and vote for CM on the 24th:
1. Cochran didn't speak last night. He should have. Makes me concerned. I have not heard a good reason why he didn't.
2. The argument that he's been there 41 years and MS is still last is compelling.
I'll be holding my nose and voting for CM. Hell to the naw on Childers.
Pork, politics, new blood? Unfortunately, DC doesn't award new blood or mavericks. It's all about seniority -- earned from 20 years or more of service. McDaniel will have none when he arrives ... and he will leave DC with none -- if he sticks to his two term pledge. He will be, "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." Mississippi will receive nothing from appropriations and we will once again be a little state with little influence.
I don't mind Greg being his replacement until the next election.
What? Harper couldn't have run for an open seat? Your interest in calling the shots and picking the winners is what is wrong with the Republicans in Mississippi.
How the hell has Gallo managed to make enemies of BOTH Tater AND McDickless? That takes some skill now
Ignore 9:03 AM's CAP laden rants.
The suggestion that the appropriations spigot will suddenly go to "nothing", as June 4, 2014 at 9:27 AM suggests, is laughable. Have you been living in a cave?
If those absentees are college students, people in Destin or Highlands, and military people, McDaniel loses!
Thad is a veteran and has supported our military. There may be a few privates who don't know that but the career guys do. And, if they think at all, they'll know McDaniel didn't bother to suit up to fight for his country!
Thad deserved a dignified send off, an end to his proud career. Instead, he was livid that the Barbours put him and his family through this public hell, only to find Mississippi has had enough of him.
For his sake we can all hope that Thad has enough left to be livid.
If he doesn't then even more reason to allow him to ride proudly upright -- while he still can -- off into the sunset.
"2. The argument that he's been there 41 years and MS is still last is compelling."
So let's cut off the federal spigot and let other states have it. That is what would occur under McDaniel. He said so. Ever think about what would happen if that occurred? We'd make Somalia look like Kublah Khan. McDaniel wins the same way Obama wins: Speaking eloquently and rallying the uninformed masses.
Never thought I'd say this but if McDaniel is the nominee, I'm voting Childers.
I implore you to look at the coast--and see what Thad Cochran helped to rebuild. It will be a chilling day when another hurricane ravages the coast and we don't have BOTH senators lobbying for help. On that day, remember that you voted for McDaniel...
9:24
If you did not vote yesterday, don't think you will vote in runoff
Re-elect this guy, Right?
@SenThadCochran
Welcome home, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. A grateful America thanks you for your service.
1:37 PM - 31 May 2014
Seniority that is not used is worthless. This race is and has been between elected McD, and planed to be appointed' Harper. Same seniority, only the people's voice is heard. If Thad had retired with dignity and endorsed Harper, Harper would have won. It's the sleazy underhanded way they played it, and thinking we are too stupid to figure it out that made me vote McD.
The GOP screwed around by keeping their "we know best" attitude. They should have realized it was time to replace Thad and picked a candidate that could win big.
People are tired of the bullshit in Washington. Every vote for McDaniel was a vote against D.C.
Don't know how this will play out, but we have to focus on NOT LETTING a DEMOCRAT win in November. That is the challenge.
So let's cut off the federal spigot and let other states have it.
The fallacy of the False dilemma.
I distrust anyone who post that they were s big supporter of a candidate but have changes their mind and start bashing that candidate. I don't believe they ever supported that candidate in the first place. I voted for thad and will vote for him again but I did attend his election party at the Hilton and am troubled that he didn't speak. I think this was a bad idea and it was time to rally the troops. His campaign staff seems to not be up to the task either.
Cochran's getting hammered on that 10:03 AM. So out of touch.
I don't think Thad is going to bow out graciously. If these absentee ballots are close in count, you will probably see Thad gloat the cameras out of desperation. When wallets are impacted, its human behavior to do what it takes to hold on to his position of comfort. PRIDE --- he is out of touch with what the people want. Times have changed and we are tired of spending our fed tax dollars on grant funding that ultimately fattens the same greedy folks' deep pockets over and over (contractors, developers, realtors. From a long time supporter of Thad that voted CM yesterday. I do not condone either of their beliefs during this economic strife. I.voted opposite of the person that continues to flow fed funds into the hands if the rich.
10:03 AM--that's for pointing that out. I'm just dumbfounded. Perhaps someone needs to tell Cochran that Bergdahl was a traitor, renounced is citizenship, and perhaps pick up a damn newspaper. I guess he read Obama's twitter feed and just copied it. That's pretty much what he's been doing anyway.
10:32, yes, every vote for McDaniel was a vote against DC. People are tired of a trillion $ debt, tired of their so-called rep smiling here to their face and voting with the democrats and liberals when he gets to DC, tired of Obamacare, tired of them supporting blank amnesty when our people cant find a dang job.
Things must change.
The only way to have a Democrat win is to have McDaniel as you candidate.
You will get the same numbers as you got for the Parenthood Referendum...60-40% for the Democrats.
THAT should have been your SIGN that we don't like the crazy outsiders and the insiders who will pander to them!
You want to see a record turnout of Republicans voting Democrat or sitting it out and a record turnout for women and Democrats? And, Childers who doesn't have much money will be getting truckloads. He will be the Dems version of The Great White Hope. That's what you'll get with McDaniel.
The GOP power brokers didn't want an open seat because they didn't want 3-5 of the officeholders in their stable to go at each other in what would have been a heated primary. Such a primary would have left the losers very damaged heading into the 2015 statewides. So they conned old Thad to eat another bowl of cereal.
The law of unintended consequences bit them big time in the ass.
Pork will be passed out in Washington. If Thad wins, he will be in charge of all the pork for the whole country. If McD wins, he will be the freshman on the transportation committee / rules committee trying to get one of the adults in the senate to recognize his Mr. Smith Goes to Washington speech so he can be on CSPAN. If McD is a man of his word, he will never achieve any seniority because of his self imposed term limits. He will be another DC guy with good hair, a good speech and absolutely no clout -- completely irrelevant to the political process.
Why no one should worry about a democrat winning the senate if McD wins? Simple...Thad voters are true republicans. If Thad looses we will support our republican nominee. Unlike Tea party girlie men who cry and scream like a bunch of drama queens....real republicans soldier on. I support the GOP.
9:24 - Pretty sure I heard on the radio this morning that if you did not vote in the primary, you can't vote in the run-off.
Can anyone confirm this?
Thad advertises he is for rural housing (among other grant funding). Grant funds funneled through state agencies will pay you up to 35000 if you qualify (housing) . Rural housing qualifies you for a low interest rate loan. I make a little over the limit to qualify for these wonderful funds paid by you, the taxpayer! Does he not realize that people like me, a hard working tax payer, can not take advantage of it? oh but wait if I get divorced or I'm single I can qualify for the government give aways. This grant funding does nothing but encourage us to be single and have dependents (to qualify for more) and he support that!? my bank told me that I would have to pay 10 percent to purchase a home--wish I could get that 35,000 maximum to put down on a home. At least I would get the money back that I have paid in all these years. My single friend's income is much less than mine and she purchased a new home thru the rural low rate interest program (near like Caroline - very nice area). Something is not right with this picture. Then someone was interested in purchasing my house but then change their mind because the agency that was giving her the free money encouraged her to buy a new home that was just developed in a rural area. Plus she was discouraged that I did not have a 3 car garage park her Escalade and BMW. Go ahead Thad advertise you are for rural housing it doesn't help me it just pisses me off! ---taxpayer and financial supporter (without my consent) to all your giveaways!!!!!
Well, I just spent the last ten minutes blocking every dang number on my caller ID that came from people wanting me to vote for someone. I have received at least twenty in the last week from one Laurel number. In fact I even got one yesterday fifteen minutes before the polls closed. Win, lose, or draw I am really for this to end. These people have become pests.
Thad is a good man, but he is definitely being propped up by the establishment and told to vote a certain way. One thing has done this to Thad...Obamacare. People are pissed off about it. It's the number one thing killing America other than Obama himself. Thad supported Obamacare by funding it and not fighting it. The reason Thad doesn't want to do media is because the truth slips out when he speaks. The GOP plan is not to defund or kill Obamacare but to amend it. That is dangerous and so here we sit.
To respond to the comment about distrust, you contradicted yourself. You bashed him when you publicly commented that you were disappointed that he did not speak as well as noting that his staff was not up to the task. Two negative comments that followed your distrust statement. If you truly supported TC you would have been positive throughout your comment to prevent raised eyebrows for public discussion. And regarding changing our mind and stating that we never supported Thad, a vote is evident of support.....that is how he kept his job. People change their minds and we have the right to vote and change our minds. That is our right - to vote for the best person for the job in our opinion and .......politicians change that is the reason our votes change. If a politician tends to have a different goal now
then they did when they were elected, then THEY have changed which will ultimately result in the voter changing their mind.
9:24 - Pretty sure I heard on the radio this morning that if you did not vote in the primary, you can't vote in the run-off.
Gallo said that this morning. He also kept parroting the already-debunked no political calls on Sunday myth on Monday.
Only people who can't in the runoff are those who voted Democrat yesterday.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for any TP voter to answer these questions honestly:
1) CM criticized TC for voting pay raises for himself, as most Americans would do if they could (let's be honest..). So when CM goes to Congress and time to vote for a pay raise that will pass, will he say no to a pay raise for himself?
2) How EXACTLY is CM going to help better the state of MS if, as he has already stated, not bring home the bacon????
@ 7:47 A.M.
Are you so uninformed that you are truly serious about what you said in your ridiculous post when Cochran was the first to go negative?? Seriously?? Where do you live? Under a rock? Oops... Maybe all you do is listen to the alphabet media news.

June 4, 2014 at 8:05 AM
Sorry to inform you-- Thad has gotten enough of me and my family's votes. Our love affair ended around 2009 with him.
He's too old and cant think straight any more or he would debate!
And this is final because I would rather throw away my vote with Childers and allow the DEMS to take this country down.
"He will be another DC guy with good hair, a good speech and absolutely no clout -- completely irrelevant to the political process." - so he will be like Wicker?
I think it's funny that the same people who say Cochran barely knows where he is think he's sending out tweets. At least pick one.
Rural housing in Mississippi is cheap. The government doesn't don't give people $35,000 - that is bullshit. The rural housing subsidies are for very poor and pitiful old people mostly, which Mississippi has a surplus of, long before they get to you. Every town in Mississippi has subsidized rental apartments for seniors that developers & investors built with FmHA loans and tax shelters in a program started by Jamie Whitten in the 1980s and funded by he and Thad until there were so many that the towns started objecting to any new ones.
I am pretty neutral on this race. I won't be sad if either Thad or Chris wins. However, I am puzzled by this idiotic argument that we have to keep Thad because he's been there forever and has power. I don't think many of those people would apply the same logic to Bennie Thompson.
For years I was so irritated that Massachusetts voters kept putting Kennedy in the Senate. These people are using the same logic that those Kennedy voters employed.
If you want Thad, then fine, but come up with something better than this weak-a$$ argument.
Somebody in the Cochran camp finally came to their senses and took down his tweet praising Bergdahl. But not before some serious damage was done.
Bottom Line.....Cochran will be in for 1-2 years at the most...Gov. Will Appoint Gregg Harper to the senate seat (more prestigious than a house seat)Delbert will run for the empty House Seat and all directed by Ex. Gov Barbour. That's the playbook I was told. Thad loosing would put a monkey wrench in their plan.....pay attention and we shall see.
Thad on ObamaCare:
During his campaign stop at the hospital, Cochran had not mentioned the Affordable Care Act, a flash point for Republicans in this campaign year. In his brief interview after that event, he was asked about the law — how he evaluated the state of play over it and what he would do about it in another term.
“I think we need to monitor any federal programs that provide services and assistance to people who need help, and this is an example of an important effort by the federal government to help make health care available, accessible and affordable,” he said. “We have probably one of the best health-care systems in the country, in the world, and we’ll need to continue to work to make sure it meets the expectations and needs of the American people. I’m glad to be involved in that effort.”
The Washington Post, May 29, 2014 http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/cochran-promotes-dc-influence-to-fend-off-tea-party-challenge/2014/05/29/59a8a824-e6f6-11e3-8f90-73e071f3d637_story.html
All you folks saying what a terrible person McDaniel is, believing everything his opponents say about him - explain this: Thad is from Pontonic County and got 52% of the vote there. McDaniel is from Jones County and got 85% of that vote. If McDaniel is such a snake how can he get 85% from the people who have know him all his life?
Who did Mark Mayfield vote for????
Thad on Why He's running for Reelection:
Cochran said he is running because others encouraged him to seek another term. “I thought it was time for me to retire,” he said. “I thought I’d served long enough.. . . But people were saying, what are we going to do without you?”

Why isn't anyone talking about the possibility of a recount? Are they not allowed for a primary? This is a very close race, and a handful of votes might put one of them over the top depending on how the affidavit votes break.
Looks like Rove may be throwing in the towel on this race.
"One group backing Cochran — American Crossroads — said Wednesday it won’t participate in the runoff."

the tea party movement scares the shit out of the liberal loudmouths. I for one love it. It was been decried dead and over many times recently but I keep seeing tea party candidates winning local elections. There is a rising tide of unhappy people in this country that are footing the bill and being shit on in the process.
Seniority that is not used is worthless. This race is and has been between elected McD, and planned to be appointed Harper. Same seniority, only the people's voice is heard. If Thad had retired with dignity and endorsed Harper, Harper would have won. It's the sleazy underhanded way they played it, and thinking we are too stupid to figure it out that made me vote McD.
THIS. THIS. THIS! Great summation of how many of us feel about this whole debacle.
Did you see this op-ed column, "Let's Give Mississippi Less," in today's New York Times?
Let's Give Mississippi Less
The idea that too much compromise is responsible for the $17 trillion debt is ludicrous.
The debt accellerated 3 times - when Reagan had a Republican Senate from 1981-1986; when Bush had a Republican Congress from 2001-2006; and then Obama with a Democratic Senate since 2009. They all cut taxes and increased spending and blew up the debt; the only difference was where the money went. Only Clinton actually did anything about the debt and that was because he compromised with Republicans in Congress.
