From the Annandale Golf Club website:
Sanderson Farms Tournament Up Date
by Cliff Bailey
On Tuesday evening the Board of Century Club Charities voted to move the Sanderson Farms Championship from Annandale Golf Club to the Country Club of Jackson. A large part of the decision was based on the belief that the event would be more profitable by utilizing the permanent clubhouse facilities at CCJ for hospitality venues rather than constructing hospitality tents on the golf course as has been done for the past 20 years. The intended result is to provide additional funds for the Batson Children's Hospital which is widely supported by our entire community.
The move was approved by the CCJ Board on Tuesday evening as well and now only needs to be approved by the PGA Tour Policy Board on April 28th. I expect this to be approved by the PGA Tour.
I want to make it clear that the decision has nothing to do with the golf course at Annandale. This decision was a complete shock to everyone associated with Annandale as we have been in several planning discussions over the past few months for this year's event.
We have been asking for a new tournament contract for the past several months and have been told it would be worked out. Obviously this was not the case.
Annandale and the City of Madison have been a very loyal partner to the PGA Tournament and we obviously are very disturbed by the timing and the complete absence of communication associated with the possibility of a site change for the event.
We expect to receive some amount of the course rental fee this year even without the event. There are some tournament related expenses in the budget that can be eliminated and we are evaluating these today. Annandale will get through this just fine. We have the premier golf club in Mississippi and and membership to match.

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

More Madison whining on the way! Must be Rudy, Mary, Supervisors, or just a mistake! Oh I forgot they do have seasonal ice skating.
This is crazy ! Let's move the golf tournament to a Swamp in the middle of July !!
It's in October!
Parking should be fun.
Great news for Jackson.
Swamp? How about the Refuge in Flowood? It's near the airport. Players can stay at the Sleep Inn.
C'mon 8:24---u trade one swamp for another and u SUBSTANTIALLY upgrade facilities which increases the odds of greater financial success---GET REAL!!
It's November 3rd
You think the city of Jackson will make a bold move and repave St. Andrews before the tournament?
Oooo coming to dangerous, shitty Jackson! LMAO at you rednecks now.
Sad news. This move is a big mistake and will kill the tournment. CCJ does not have the room to handle the parking. What are they going to do, park and shuttle from Christ UMC? Yea, and let's see how many cars get burglarized. Just wait till the homeowners in CCJ start complaining about the traffic and on-street parking in their neighborhood. By the way, I do not live in Madison or Rankin County...go figure!
No doubt Twitterwell will use this as a pretense to pave all the CCJ streets at the expense of the rest of Ward 1.
Yeah 9:09. Everyone is a stupid shit except you. Kinda like the oh my God parking problem at Whole Foods. I would think they do this for a living, not for a self perceived important comment. Grow up, take a hick induced deep breath, and deal with JACKSON FOR THE TOURNEY.
Makes perfect sense. Take a bottom-tier tour event and move it to an inferior course that no PGA pro is going out of his way to play. The parking is already an issue in Annandale and will be a nightmare at CCJ. This tournament will die if they go through with this. You have to draw players and patrons to make money. CCJ does neither. Cutting costs will kill revenue and, ultimately, the tournament.
Before they can pave the road they have it fix the missing leak under it.
9:42 see 9:35. Now go kick your dog. Another Kudo for city you hate.
Uhhhh 9:42---this "tournament " was deader than Kesley's nuts at Annandale---this is a Hail Mary to TRY to keep it alive!!
Wow
Let me get this straight, leave from the number 1 golf course in the state, to the swamp, with no space between fairways, shuttle from county line road, oh and sleep inn parking lot maybe? Unbelievable!
And the genesis of this genious idea we trust with our charity dollars.
Here's you sign!
9:42 is correct.
Wait till the city council and board of supervisors hear about this. I see the cost to double in contract work this year. Plus lawsuits being flung around. And not to mention crime. I'm not leaving my car unattended in JACK-U-STAN for 3-4 hours.
Lost my business. Who wants to drive to Jackson to WATCH people play on a mediocre layout. Great conditions, of course, but a down-and-back track with less than 100 feet of elevation change. Might as well play at Sonny Guy.

At least the golfers will have ready access to the Dollar General. Will they be flying in on Southwest?
Madison is LOST. What a shame.
No prollem. The tour people can easily solve these issues by coordinating with the Bass Tournament people, including accommodations at the nearby Motel 6.
"How do we find the place?" a tourist might axe. Well, lesee, you go just past the Krystal Fine Dining where the closed Kroger and shut down Mexican restaurant are and take a left right past that place that has the huge sign reading "We Sell Cigarettes". And there's a McDonald's nearby, a donut shop a couple of miles to the south and a bait store just to the north. Enjoy. FORE!
The golfers can't fly in on Southwest. Southwest is leaving Jackson permanently the first week of June.
Maybe the parking lot at the closed Kroger can be used for overflow parking? Maybe Dollar General can set up a hospitality tent in their parking lot for lost spectators?
Good for Jackson. The comments prove that folks do not have a legitimate interest in helping but just want to tear down.....with racism at its core. I am not the JFP but it is clear that the Jackson haters are motivated by race. I for one am glad I don't live near you and your closed minded hate. As long as Jackson is AA run, no matter what small success it may have the rednecks will find something to gripe about. I believe there should be a rankin jambalaya for all this nonsense but Id make sure there is a good spell check feature.
I'm amazed at how many people that commented have experience with golf tournaments.
Playing golf or watching it on TV and knowing everything there is to know about what it takes for a golf tournament to be successful go hand in hand...NOT.
Some of you are assuming that the course difference is so great that a pro golfers and golf fans would be willing to eat in tents and have stay where breakfast is a breakfast bar and where there's no luxurious lounge for gathering with your fellow pros at the end of the day.
And, excuse me but where are these fine hotels in Madison? The best you have doesn't hold a candle to the Hilton on County Line for luxury. Nor do you have any fine bread and breakfast places in an easy drive.
No one does a large event better than CCJ. They handle parking just fine. They have valet and shuttle parking experience as well as experience with security.
And, having actually done events in Jackson, JPD goes out of their way to work with event planners on security.
And, CCJ certainly does food for large crowds better than any other venue in MS.
If the CCJ residents are smart and don't want to go to the tournament, they will offer to rent their homes for the week as is done at other golf tournaments.
Lost another one Central Mississippi! Wonder what genius came up with this fabulous idea???
7:45. Too logical and right on. The bigot, white flighters go nuts when good things happen in their capital city. Makes absolutely no sense.
Are you sure this article wasn't supposed to run on April 1 (April fools day)????
Hate to see the tournament come to an end, but this appears to be the end of the line. I can't say that I'm surprised.
Jackson CC could not be a worse spot to host a PGA event. Yes, they are good at hosting events if you are having a wedding. There is no parking, the roads are terrible, Jackson is infested with crime and JPD couldn't be more worthless. Its a terrible venue for a tournament. Ive lived in Jackson my whole life, but be realistic. Jackson is run down. The city of Jackson cannot decide on anything because the elected officials make everything a zoo. This tournament will die if CCJ hosts it.
Attendance won't increase, it will decrease. Any fool (like 7:45 AM) who believes the tourney can't make it to a new level of success because Annandale lacks some facilities is, well, a fool.
Let me try to understand this. CCJ's golf course is not ranked in the top 10 in Mississippi. This will be the worst course the PGA Tour utilizes this year. Some of the tour players have played there in past years when they have visited Jackson and the comments are all similar. Nice folks, good facilities, but the course is a joke. I am just guessing but this new tournament manager is trying to make a name for himself and then quickly move on to another city with a bigger tournament. Most answers in the world involve money. Bottom line is that it is a cheaper place to play and the tournament will be cheaper. The end of the PGA tour is in site for Mississippi.
Sure hope any TV coverage takes some time to showcase the Farish Street entertainment district and the Capital Green robot garage.
Kennuf Tokes is going to have a field day with this tournament.
He'll find a way to be on the TV every day.
Wouldn't be surprised if he sets up some pickets on Ridgewood Road.
The Stokes Twins will object to it not being on the public course next to the zoo. It is such a "wunnerful" location.
NO, NO, NO!!! Everyone is missing the obvious. There are no worries about attendance, parking, or fine restaurants and accommodations. The stands will be full of Lost Rabbit residents, hotels and dining will be at HarborWalk, and everyone will move around by the water taxis running from behind CCJ to the other sites. DUH!
7:18, you really have no clue.
If you saw some of the things Kingfish won't let me say on here, you might piss your adult diaper.
NO 10:44, 7:18 IS EXACTLY RIGHT. You are blinded by racial baggage and hate. Admit it and you will be set free.
If you saw some of the things Kingfish won't let me say on here ...
Nothing stopping you from starting your own gig and its free. Put up.
Funny how many people think they should have a say-so in where they play their tournament. The market will dictate the outcome, not a handful of people typing on a keyboard.
It amazes me how "us versus them" I read on here between people that live 2 miles apart. You would think Madison and Jackson were on two different continents from reading this page. Quit fooling yourself, living in Madison is just a very expensive way to live in the same metro area.
I am a member of Annandale and am thrilled that the tournament isn't going to be held there. The course is beautiful that time of year and having it unusable for almost a month has always ben a nuisance. I hope for the sake of the tournament it succeeds in Jackson but I feel pretty confident that the logistics are going to be an absolute nightmare. The scores from the CCJ member tournament are always insanely low, can you imagine what the pros are going to do to the course? Change the name back to the BLUE 9 and tell TJ to prep the drinks because they're going to take about 45 minute to finish the course.
Oh, but the Century Club Charities spend a whole 17% on their charitable programs, and almost $2.5 million on "fundraising".
Why has Delbert not shut them down? That's outrageous.
http://www.sos.ms.gov/links/sec_char/2012%20Charity%20Report.pdf
Clearly 1:08, you haven't played from the tips. I doubt the scores will be notably lower than those from your wide open, but beautiful layout. Save this post.
Right!! They will blow CCJ up the same way they blow Annandale up year in and year out. The difficulty or lack thereof is the same for both.
CCJ 7,284 yrds 75.2/133
Annandale 7,177 yrds 75.8/132
I play both and score the same on both. So don't act like one is tougher than the other b/c they are the same in difficulty.
The best thing about watching the golf tournament at CCJ will be the ability to stand on any hole and watch the entire golf tournament. This maybe a first in PGA history that you can watch every shot on the course without having to move.
The Century Club President and his cronies and the PGA Tour should be ashamed of the way they handled this deal! Can't believe Mr Sanderson would be associated with people that conduct business in the manner like the Century Club Prsident, tournament chairman, and the PGA Tour in getting the tournament site moved Move the tournament to JCC fine! But do it in a fair and ethical manner! Not with back door and secret dealings! Honesty and integrity have been thrown to the wind by the current Century Club Board Prsesident!
Classy response from Mayor Mary.
Maybe the long-term plan is to move it back to Madison and that is why the Mayor is giving such a classy response....I don't know, but it sounds logical.
2:38 you are surprised? She is a classy lady. Tough as a 2 bit steak, but classy. This NE Jacksonian wishes she was OUR mayor.
I live in Madison, and I've never even HEARD of this tournament. Or maybe I tuned it out when I heard or read the name. 'Viking' makes me think of big, hot-looking men, and so maybe that gets my attention. I do notice - barely - when the Viking Tournament is being held.
But is Golf even relevant to ANYBODY, anymore? The only thing more boring than 'playing' Golf would have to be watching it. So pointless... With Football, you can look at the players lower-body muscles (and sometimes other stuff shows, when they're wearing white tights), so the pointlessness of that endeavor is mitigated somewhat by the eye candy. But golfers are just these dried-up, narrow-shouldered, flat-butted, little men in supremely ugly clothes.
Can someone PLEASE explain to me why anyone would go out of their way to WATCH something like that?
Oh! And if you ask me, this move is Madison's punishment for getting the answer wrong, when Mrs. World asked the policeman, "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?"
The only draw this event ever had anyway was John Daly and his green checkered pants and drunken antics. Now that we have the Stokes twins, who needs Daly and the tourney?
Consider the history of the tournament. It originated in Hattiesburg, moved to the Indian resort in Choctaw, then landed at annandal. One year of b/e in the hood will move it back to hub city, where it's safer.
I agree 6:26. If any two Jacksonians could pull this off, they would be the team.
Where is 6:26? Musta been a zinger.
Move it to the Coast. We have at least 4 courses that blow away your Jackson courses. The Sr. Champions Tour a couple of weeks ago at Fallen Oak sets a new standard for quality golf in MS. All of the MMMMAAAADDDIIIiSSON stiff jawbone crowd were there and loved it. Freddie Couples, Nick Faldo, Calcavechia, Pate, Kite, Lehman....just to name a few were there and they LOVE the Coast. Nuff said.
JCC 'has a clubhouse', not tents. Can someone please state just one other reason for moving it to Jxn? Really. Just ONE other reason. Then make a list of pros and cons. There will be nothing in the pro-column other than the JCC has a clubhouse. We need to get Rudy to do an engineering study on this madness, and quick.
CCJ hosts more than weddings ( it's Country Club of Jackson and not Jackson Country Club). They host many large business events. I know. I've attended and been involved.
Yes, a clubhouse is a big deal. Many people actually like to relax in comfortable chairs, get excellent service and, drumroll, not be at the mercy of the weather!
But, when it comes to venues, square footage is also a big deal and except for convention centers and casinos, MS has a square footage problem.
The parking and crime are non-issues. I hear that all the time for Jackson events but repetition doesn't make it true. The people saying this have never participated in holding a large event anywhere.
And, all of you seem to overlook that other places with large events have crime and parking issues as well...Natchez and the Pilgrimage or anything in NOLA. Baton Rouge didn't shut down with a serial killer for pete's sake. Grow up and join the real world.
And, apparently none of you seem to be able to credit the JPD for their excellent work during the many large events that are held in Jackson. The Mississippi Marathon, the St Paddy's Day parade, and IBC to name a few.
IF the event planners have enough sense to deal with Jackson's Convention Bureau and the JPD, the results are good.
Parking and security are easy to deal with when planning events.
It is the height of stupidity for any Mississippian to bash ANY event which brings in revenues to the State or is a fund raiser. You should all want it to succeed and get behind it wherever it is.
I always thought Annadale too far out from anything and below PGA standards for the venue not the course, but I wanted it to succeed and grow. It didn't grow.
And, I happen to know that the coast has a few issues for events and your Convention Center has lost quite a few big events recently but I won't spell it out because I hope you work through those problems.
If this doesn't work at CCJ, I'll support the coast or anywhere else IN THE STATE.
I hate that some of you seem bound and determine to cut off your noses to spite your faces!
Finally feel compeled to chime in. I never seen such petty bullshit. Here is the truth...I am a member at CCJ, play Annandale about 10 times a year...It is going to be interesting to see how the course holds up. The green complexes at CCJ are harder. I know CCJ is slightly longer from the tips than Annandale, but it does't play near as long. Total yardage is irrelevant. It is where that yardage comes into play that makes a difference. A 220 par 3 isnt a big deal to a tour pro. CCJ's par 4's may not stand up to the pro's length either (one over 460 I can think of off hand). The par 5's will all be reachable (relatively) bc there are no forced carries on any of them and plenty of bail out spots at the greens (except long, long is a killer on almost every hole at CCJ). They will have to grow the rough both in (smaller fairways) and up (going to be hard for bermuda to do so in November) in order to defend the course and make the greens about 14 on the stemp. Someone above said Annandale is "wide open". Big open areas to your eyes does not equate to a wide open course when OB is everywhere and no holes are adjacent to each other, only yards and woods. CCJ is "wide open" for any golfer worth their salt as a true golfer. The ability to hit real punch shots and to hit it over trees makes CCJ "wide open" for anyone with some skill. You can literally hit it 100 yards off your target line and still be ok on several holes. OB doesn't exist and the "woods" are on the edges of the course and tagged as hazards, not OB in most cases. They need to tag all of the tall grass separating some of the holes as OB, not a red hazard to toughen it up. All that said, CCJ's old fashioned, tight layout, which I love by the way just as I love Annadale and Reunion for their modern, house and spectator friendly designs, is a rarity on tour these days and will create some neat shot making chances for the pros. It will be interesting to see how they set it up and how the pros score. I predict about -18 wins it, maybe lower (-20 plus), if they don't take some drastic toughening up measures.
As for the facilities, hands down CCJ wins. The pros will think they are actually pros, when each actually gets a locker, and they can utilize all of the spa and workout facilities. It will be as if they are pros. Personally, I like the quaintness and "golf only" style of Annandale, and the lack of Jacksonian social climbing and backstabbing bullshit.
Logistics wise for the average fan and for the golf channel, I see a nightmare at CCJ, unless they destroy a good chunk of the blue 9 (cypress). For the tour championship at East Lake, you have to board a bus at Turner Field (after waiting about 30 minutes in line) and ride for about 15 minutes, bc East Lake is about like Colonial CC as far as room around the grounds are concerned. However, you are going to see the top 30 in the world, so a little pain is worth it. I am not sure how much effort a casual golf fan is going to put into attending. If they have to be rounded up at a parking lot (can't think of one anywhere close that will be empty), hearded onto buses by Jackson's finest (cop or rent a cop), and then bused in, they may not make the effort.
All that said, the Sandersons are CCJ members. Look no further than that as to why it moved.
Those are the only factors I give a shit about when it come to the tourney moving. The Jackon/Madison shit reminds me of kids arguing over whose dad could be up whom. I am excited to see how they will set it up and how the pros will score. None of us will know until it happens so save all the self righteousness on both sides. I live in Madison and play golf at CCJ and am happy with both.
Thank you for your sanity 7:50. Perhaps you haven't noticed, but the very bloodline of this blog is fed by people truly pissed off by any successes our 82% black Capital City. They can't help themselves. They are tunnel vision bigots. I tire as much as anyone of the handful of idiots that continue to plague our city. They do not, however, control who we as a CITY are, irrespective of the teeth knashing continually spewed by our redneck or elitist neighbors.
8:03, well said. I am in the same boat as you. Member of CCJ, play Annandale a good bit and live in Madison.
I differ with you on the scoring however. I think the winning score will actually be higher than what Annandale traditionally sees. My guess is somewhere in the -12 range. When the rough is 3-4 inches and fairways are tightened a good bit, which will happen, the course is going to be a bear. The greens will roll nearly identical to what the pros are used to at Annandale as they are the same grass. I see the new fescue coming into play a good bit.
I'm a member of Annandale and can speak for most of the members.
We are relieved to have the tournament moved. We have loved it for a long time and were honored to have it at Annandale.
Now that it was moved back to Nov. the damage to the course was going to be more than we wanted. In Nov. the growing time is gone and the time to repair the damage would be months. I would think it will be May before the course will be back to normal. I sure hope it is a success for the Kids at Blair E. Batson sake. I hope and pray that vote to change venue's was only to put more money in the hospital and not some hidden agenda for someone's ego.
April 4, 2014 at 8:13 AM = JJ Loyal Reader of the Month for April 2014!
I'm a member of Annandale and I as well as most of the members are relieved that we lost the tournament. We all feel honored to have hosted it but it was time for a change. With the tournament moving back to Nov. we were worried about how fast the damage to the course would be repaired. With the growing season over all the dead spots that normally recovered with in a month will be there for 5 to 6 months. I truly hope that the real decision was for the kids and not some underhanded deal to stroke someone's ego. The Blair E. Batson should be the only concern and we all hope and pray that the tournament is a great success for that reason only. If you are pissed because you lost it or pissed because it is coming to your course think about the kids
That is the only reason (I hope) that this tournament is being played. I sure hope that there is a great turn out of the fans and we have no rain. Who cares if the facility is better or the golf course produces lower scores.
IT SHOULD BE ALL ABOUT THE KIDS
10:52 can you dispute what 8:13 said? You know it is true and you just couldn't help yourself, just like 8:13 said.
"The parking and crime are non-issues. I hear that all the time for Jackson events but repetition doesn't make it true. The people saying this have never participated in holding a large event anywhere. "
Non-issues? After that participant got murdered at a Jackson hotel this year I doubt that bass tournament is ever coming back to Jackson.
"However, you are going to see the top 30 in the world, "
What?!? I don't follow golf, although this thing has literally been in my back yard for several years, but I thought the only drama of this low-paying tournament was because it was the last chance for several pros to make the qualifying cut so they didn't have to try our for next year's circus. Those who missed the cut had to qualify the next year before being allowed to compete. In several of the past years a competing PGA tournament has been on LIVE TV, with the big names competing for huge prize money.
Good luck to them, and I hope they raise money. I've had great food at both places, although our groups were probably not as large as the group they will need to feed for something like this.
"... irrespective of the teeth knashing continually spewed by our redneck or elitist neighbors..."
I can't decide if Proud Fonrenite (sic) is deliberately ignorant or just plan stupid.
1:54 and 2:02.....Feel better now? Got that off your chest? Gonna go eat a big steak now??
Crime wont be an issue. They can just close the gate.
Kuinten Whitwell must be consulting with Kenuf's PR staff when he states that the city of Jackson has the opportunity to showcase one of the top five golf facilities in the country. Pretty funny. He knows.
3:07 PM, don't count on Whitwell to know a lick about the crap he spouts.
Seems to me that a move dictated by the need to cut costs indicates the tournament may be on its last leg. Instead of bickering, maybe all y'all ought to just go out and support the tournament wherever it is if you want to keep it in Mississippi.
What do you mean 4:28. It's his baby. He said so!
Whitwell's comment that CCJ is a top five golf facility in the USA is the most uninformed statement by a living organism since the first ding dong of time. He makes Kenneth Stokes look a Nobel Prize winner in Physics..
Presumably we will have thousands upon thousands of golfers world wide now clamoring to find some way to play there. The economic impact of all these visitors from the world over should be in the millions. No more tax revenue issues for Jackson. Pebble Beach wiil probably be bankrupt within a year with the loss of revenue since CCJ will take most of their business.
As his comments move through space and time in a million years they will still say this was mankind's dumbest comment.
Small wonder Jackson is in trouble with leadership like this in charge.

Is this a record for number of comments on a Kingfish thread?
Is this the longest thread ever on this blog
Whitwell's comment that CCJ is a top five golf facility in the USA is the most uninformed statement ...
Consider the source. This is a guy whose Ward is disintegrating in front of his eyes and does nothing. His claim to fame is the supposed cessation of roadside puppy sales but puppies are still being sold on the Jackson side of County Line every weekend.
Twitterwell might has well suggested to move the tourney to River Hills. It is also a top 5 golf facility in the world.
April 4, 2014 at 8:02 PM = JJ **GREENHORN**
Just curious - so what are the other golf facilities in Whitwell's top five? How many top five hotels and dining establishments do we have? Are we in top five in the condition of our streets and waterworks facilities?
Are we in the top five of safe cities,? Top five in school rankings?
"Kingfish doesn't varnish over the truth." To varnish is to apply a translucent, protective top-coat. Kingfish may not varnish over the truth but he's one of the top five in the country at making up his own version of it.
1:54am, I was referring to the logistical nightmare that is East Lake in Atlanta for the Tour Championship. It is in an old neighborhood that is halfway undergoing regentrification, but is completely surrounded by a 60 year old neighborhood, with some of it very rough. Parking is 5-7 miles away with a trip on I-20 thrown in. I have the highest possible level of passes (even eat lunch in the small, separate dining room with the pros), but no parking pass, because there arent any. The point was the hassel is worth it bc it is the top 30. I was worrying that too much effort to get there, may hurt the crowd since it is more of the "unknowns" at our tourney.
Reading comprehension...work on it.
10:34am...It is going to be hard to get 3-4 inches of bermuda in November. I hope so, but it wont be near as thick as summer either. I am just excited to see what the set up will be and how it holds up. I would be shocked if -15 or lower won, but...we need a two week dry period leading into it. When it plays fast and firm, it plays FAST and Firm, especially at the greens. That could push the scores up a little as well. Will be fun to see.
I guess I meant 1:54pm not "am" as I incorrectly wrote. I figured you had to be up late and hammered to think I meant the top 30 were here. I typed in my original post....
"For the tour championship at East Lake, you have to board a bus at Turner Field (after waiting about 30 minutes in line) and ride for about 15 minutes, bc East Lake is about like Colonial CC as far as room around the grounds are concerned. How the hell did you read that and think I meant the top 30 will be at CCJ, whether you follow golf or not?
Elitist at 11:14. Get over yourself or run for President as you clearly think you are above us plebes.
It's actually really easy to see your statement as suggesting the top 30 will be in Jackson. Let me help you see how: The whole subject of this thread is Jackson Country Club. (or as some snoot has reminded us, Country Club of Jackson).
You added a remark or two or three about another venue and compared it to JCC or CCJ. Then you said, "...since you are going to see the top 30 in the world...".
The subject of that parenthetical phrase (beginning with since) is 'you', or us, the readers of your sentence. WE are not going to be in the venue @ East Lake (since we don't have your silk drawers); therefore, we are left to assume WE are going to see the top 30 @ JCC or CCJ, if we're fortunate enough to get inside the gates.
Quit polishing your shaft with one hand while typing with the other. You dropped a raw oyster, by the way.
nope 2:51am..."since" never appears once in my post. Jeez, you dumb asses can't read. What I typed was incredibly clear...impossible to infer that the top 30 were referenced as coming here. Some people are just slow I guess. The word was "however" and is in clear reference to East Lake. No wonder we are in such trouble these days. When one dolt can't comprehend a simple and well structured paragraph and another one who shows up at 2:51am thinks H-O-W-E-V-E-R spells "since", the word plebes does come to mind.
Thanks for the pointless lesson on the use of since...since it made abolutely no fucking sense in relation to my post. Sober yet?
And no, I am no elitist. Just fortunate to get some great passes to Atlanta. The point was there was no parking, similar to Jackson. The larger point was that people go in droves anyway, bc it is the top 30. I worry people won't make the same type effort for the "bottom" 150.
It was clear, unless you are fucking moron or drunk. Which one are you? I am guess you are a drunk moron.
It's actually really easy to see your statement as suggesting the top 30 will be in Jackson. Let me help you see how: The whole subject of this thread is Jackson Country Club. (or as some snoot has reminded us, Country Club of Jackson).
Actually, no. It's contrived to think the original statement made by that poster suggested the top 30 will be in Jackson.
This semantical argument is generated by the ignorance of all parties involved. You have no idea and just have varying qualified opinions and no basis to validate or disqualify the opinion of another. Therefore, you fall into the logical fallacy of semantics.
Now, to the semantics. The comparison is very obvious. One might attend this other course where the top 30 will be and go through the hoops and problems of attending, because the top 30 will be there. The comparison that was made is that people will not endure those same logistics in Jackson due to the fact that the top 30 won't be here. Hence, their use of the word "nightmare".
Lastly, look around central MS. You turds that bash anything that doesn't benefit you or affect you directly are the reason this area will never support anything of entertainment value. Everyone is so concerned another area might have something "fun", instead of praising the fact that they or their children or even a neighbor will have another entertainment choice.
The State should mandate the metro area and the three counties merge into a metropolitan area as a pathway to remove these walls of envy and in an effort to get the neighbors working together instead of against one another.
Jacksonians don't work against our neighbors as witnessed in the dead blog above re: Madison Parkway bond debacle. We actually hope our suburbs do well. The defensive reactions are due to the obsession our neighbors have with us, which by and large, is racist in scope. You know it, they know it, and it is fact.
They cannot STAND that whites remain in the capital city, THEIR capital city, care about her, and want to make it better. RUNS. THEM. CRAZY.
Jackson is just as much to blame, if you think differently, you are ignorant of facts are blind to them.
I have lived in Jackson for 40 years. The fractionalized way this entire area approaches everything has plenty of blame to be spread. That racism you speak of is a two way street and is worse in Jackson as those black leaders would rather see their neighbors continue to suffer through a demise of the city rather than embrace ideas or endeavors which is not led or has affiliation with some black mantra.
Look at the election of one of the most radicalized individuals to mayor of Jackson, just recently and the openly spoken fact that Jackson will never elect another white mayor, regardless of what they offer.
But instead of accepting reality, 11:08 is quite comfy in assigning blame to "one side" without any acceptance for their own responsibility.
Back on topic... The PGA can't possibly approve this underhanded, deceitful bullshit. I dont care about town to town but this was done in a coupe. And will have permanant implications throughout the century club for years to come.

Is that what the district of kush is trying to do? If that's the case, I no longer wish the free the land.
Is that what the district of kush is trying to do? If that's the case, I no longer wish the free the land.
No, quite the opposite. Kush is the "delta" area. The Jackson Kush plan aims to include Jackson, west to the river and up through the Delta in some black "self-determination" goobledy-gook.
Rankin and Madison areas are excluded from that plans because there are not enough blacks in those areas. A Jackson Metro would be some sort of intergovernmental association, whether it just be planning boards or overall incorporation into a metro area.
So we go from talking about a simple golf tournament to the Kingdom of Kush???
There are dozens of examples in this nation of combining city and county governments. Maybe it's time to get rid of every city government in the Metro Area and combine Hinds, Rankin and Madison into one political entity. That would kill a lot of administrative jobs sucking at the government teat, but isn't that the point of limited government?
April 5 8:29PM, out of pure curiosity could you explain a little more about the coup and deceit aspect. From the outside looking in at the Century Club board and their club affiliations, coupled with comments over the years by some Annandale members (including the ones that have posted on this thread) that they would gladly give up the tournament because they can't play their course and the pros tear it up, I can't say that the move is totally shocking but certainly interesting.
Combining Hinds, Rankin and Madison counties into one political entity?
You might want to do a wee bit of research into recent electoral trends because that means you are advocating to neuter black voters in Jackson.

In what kind of coupe was this done? A Coupe Calais? A Coupe deVille? Apparently, this 'underhanded' deed transpired on city streets, since it happened "town to town". Did anyone leak a video of this? I suppose that since it was "done in a coupe", it could have been easily filmed from a van or a truck. Hopefully, it's too nasty for YouTube, but viewable on Dailymotion.
I was also impressed and intrigued by that last quoted sentence. It really is a marvel.
But this thread seems to have become a veritable BUFFET of amazing 'adaptations' of written English.

Sooooooooo, are you confirming that you are a virginated JJ newbie?
Had to revisit this, looks like CCJ has done well. Charity hs raised way more money than expected. And after a few years the PGA signed ten year contract. Looks like they are staying.

Well...that didn't happen.
