so what does this mean - that the sheriff won't be transporting inmates to trial? who wrote this gobbledygook?
Yes. Let's stop the criminal prosecutions in Hinds County. That sounds like a plan.
Hinds County ... A World of Difference!
Criminals now doing their happy dance....
Can the Attorney General do anything in this matter????
12noon 4-4-2014 This is what happens when you open up the prison in Hinds County!
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
There were some scary moments, Friday morning, when a car thief kidnapped a Hinds County Deputy's granddaughter.
Around 9am, the child's aunt was dropping off her own child at a daycare that is run from a home in the 300 block of Wacaster Street.
The suspect was able to steal the Nissan Sentra with a 4-year-old girl in the backseat.
We are told that the aunt flagged down a deputy who began searching for the stolen vehicle.
The deputy found the car one or two miles away on Moss Avenue.
It just took a few minutes for police to recover the car, abandoned, thankfully, with the child still inside.
Authorities are still searching for the thief who apparently ran away from the scene.
Get this information out to the public!
I don't see a problem with what Judge Green has done here It's a three week stay of proceedings for inmates that would require transportation from the Raymond jail, and has a built in exception if any judge sees a situation that should go forward despite the stay. I would much rather have all hands on deck in Raymond, trying to fix that mess, than transporting prisoners. Everybody is staying in jail, and a three week delay is minimal given how long most criminal proceedings take.
The really, really scary issue here is that the disfunction at the Raymond jail is starting to effect the operation of the criminal court system. That is a recipe for disaster as the problems in Raymond continue to grow. I think the state or feds are going to have to step in for there to be any real solution here. We don't have elected officials in Hinds county that are capable of solving this problem on their own.
This is a good thing. Most of them will plead guilty in exchange for time served. This way they serve three more weeks. Justice in Hinds County is a relative term.
HCBOS Stokes is calling for a "no confidence" vote on Sheriff Lewis.

HCBOS Stokes is calling for a "no confidence" vote on Sheriff Lewis.
Sheriff still hasn't located who murdered the Mayor?
I give John Horhn total credit for getting a group of local officials together and getting them a meeting with the Governor yesterday to explore what state or federal help might be available to help Hinds County fix the jail mess. That's the only productive move by anyone I have seen on this issue so far.
"so what does this mean ....? who wrote this gobbledygook?"
All parties in Hinds Co. have contracted with Cap'n Kangaroo to assist with their writing. And if you can't understand the gobbledygook, it's your own damned fault!
I give John Horhn total credit for getting a group of local officials together...
Is that you, John?
I know Tony Greer and Darrel McQuirter were both out there in meetings within 72 hours of getting elected. The dignity those two have returned to the HCBOS cannot be understated. Vendors now believe in a real and transparent RFP process. I believe they made a one million dollar emergency appropriation for the jail as well. This thing needs massive overhauling and it's going to take serious dollars that simply aren't there.
Prisoners have died at the jail. Maybe jail employees have to die before the Feds step in and stop the carnage going on at the Raymond Detention Center.
Answer is simple. Time to bring back forced prison/jail labor. When you're productively engaged all day long and tired or exhausted at the end of the day, you ain't got time for this kind of shit.
