M-Bar Town Hall is Tonight

Note: The live stream is on the JJ Instagram page.

The Ridgewood Park Homeowners Association and Ward 1 Councilman Ashby Foote will host a town hall meeting at 6 PM at the Ag Museum to discuss the proposed improvements to the M-Bar.

M-Bar owner Richard Bradley announced he will build an amphitheater next to his nightclub.  The projected cost is $8-10 million.  Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba lauded the expansion on the city's Facebook page:

M-Bar for breaking ground on your ampitheater project. We’re excited to celebrate this opportunity for growth and expansion in the City of Jackson. Thank you for continuing to fuel the charge of bringing vitality to our city.

Mr. Bradley was one of the Mayor's largest donors last year as he gave $10,000 to Mayor Lumumba's re-election campaign.

This should be fun. I'm bringing popcorn.

8- 10 mil is hilarious, like anyone will believe that.

What is the point of the town hall? The construction is already underway, it's not like it's a public hearing on whether to approve the work or not. Is this just for people to bitch?

Anonymous said...

If they were even a little bit knowledgeable about common business practice or actual construction projects, they would never have a 2 million $ gap in the projected costs. It might cost them $50,000 to move in a portable building, hang some string lights, and pay someone to steal some coolers. The rest of the money they borrow will go to Enterprise Rental Car for the little hoes, on the weekend.

What a sham. These guys are like coloring book characters. Mumba and Bradley think they’re ganstas.

Is this some kind of con game for no one is really going to do this. No way to pay for some thing like this in Jackson.

Anonymous said...

the current mayor acts just like the people his father loathed.

Good grief, what a nightmare this development is going to be! It doesn't make any sense on any level. Seriously, other than a rendering plant or a paper mill, what could you build adjacent to a residential area that would keep residents more pissed off than they're going to stay? This almost certainly has to be in violation of one or more zoning ordinances.

Baby Chok has GOT to have the intention of running as much of the taxpaying population as he can out of Jackson. There's really no other explanation for how he has his administration "operating" the city.

I agree with 5:25 with one additional observation:

There is no f--g way any entertainment venue in Jackson MS can service the debt on 8-10 million dollars. Much less, cover all of the additional overhead with a project of this type.

Got to be some subordinated money or outright government bullshit for this thing to happen. Which considering the players is entirely possible.

Anonymous said...

How many spies does baby chowke have in the audience?

Anonymous said...

Meeting shouldn’t be necessary. Those bone heads at M-Bar should know better. Too much noise, too close to too many residential areas.

Anonymous said...

Beer and chips at the forum!

Anonymous said...

@6:32.....laundry money!

Anonymous said...

This is terrible on so many levels. Chok himself is probably invested in it with all that Siemens money. But on the other hand, NE Jax let a whole election cycle go by and didn’t run anybody viable against him. After Speed died, there seems to be no leadership there anymore. What a shame. On top of that, they let the Col Sanders looking guy continue to “represent”them basically as a seat filler.

Anonymous said...

Back in the day we would suspect the M(urder)-Bar as being a money laundering operation.

Anonymous said...

You get the government you deserve.

Anonymous said...

It will be a lot easier to mae the nut on 8 to 10 million if the loan is a long term zero coupon municipal bond!

They'll be long gone before the rent is due!

This is hilarious. A whole slough of moronic posers. All of these cartoon characters went to City Gear down by Metrocenter and got new suits for the photo. Granted $8,000,000 isn’t what it used to be, but these clowns probably couldn’t shovel together $400 cash between them. A glass bottle Coke and Snickers says this doesn’t last more than 24 more months. Each boot in the picture is a fraud and couldn’t pass the GED test.

Anonymous said...

@8:59 pm and our current competent government on each level is exactly what we deserve.

Anonymous said...

Wait, now I gotta get Instagram?

Anonymous said...

Have a feeling that MBar will be cleanest place in the city and the new hangout for Richard's Disposal's proposed Jackson team.

Back in the day...
There you go with that back in the day shit. Smh.
There ain’t no back in the day.

This is 'our' amphitheater

@6:32 pM
You sound jealous. You sound like you hate to see the black man get over on the white man’s system. You want to see the white man’s system continue to get over on the black man, don’t you my “brother.”
You want it to be one way...

Anonymous said...

Agree with 8AM. Won't be following JJ to Instagram.

Anonymous said...

It’s not about black and white man. It’s about doing things the right way. This won’t last.

Kingfish said...

Then don't and quit your bitching. I was nice enough to go spend several hours streaming it LIVE so you people could watch it LIVE.

Now, if I want to stream it live, I have to use either Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, or possibly Twitter. All social media platforms. But that fact probably escaped your notice because you would rather bitch because you're living in a bunker in Braxton.

So if you want to watch events live streamed, this is how it has to be for now.

The definition of pure comedy: Kingfish thinking anyone watches or reads his posts.

Anonymous said...

I do 10:14am.

I might wager a small lump sum that you rather obviously do too.

Anonymous said...

No KF, it didn't escape my notice (and I'm not a previous comment on this subject) but I'm not going to add an additional social media platform; in fact, I'm trying to reduce my use of multiple platforms.

Over the years, I have watched many videos you have posted on Youtube, and watch other issues posted there including the MS Senate and House.

But if 'this is how it has to be for now' - which is certainly your choice, for me the 'how it is going to be now' is that I will reduce my clicks on your site. Figure that probably won't hurt you too much, and it won't bother me too much to save a few minutes per day of following. I'm fine with that, and hopefully your advertisers will be as well.

Anonymous said...

How can this be described as an amphitheater when it is nothing more than treated posts with a slanted metal roof covering picnic tables? The drawing looks like a covered play ground and that's it.

Anonymous said...

I agree 11:20.

Apparently McB's also has an amphitheater.

@10:49 AM

This right here. 100%. Close comments.

KF, in case this is of benefit to any others: I went to the IG page and found the videos of the meeting. However, I was unable to find a way to incorporate the audio. Video is fine, but no audio. I can get audio on other videos on your page, but not on the two from last night. Ironically, I've found that audio is not available on many conservative-leaning videos on IG, but not once has it been a problem with the left-leaning ones.

Any suggestions on how to get audio along with the videos?

$8-10 million? Ha! I watched the first season of Ozark. I see what’s happening here.

Kingfish said...

Tried it on Firefox, chrome, and safari. No problems.

Kingfish said...

I should add that on safari, could not hear the sound at first. Found the sound icon on the video and sure enough, it was off.

As we watch the "actions" of our current mayor, remember that he comes by his "reasoning" honestly. He grew up his whole life being indoctrinated by this kind of thinking:

Your about to spend $8,000,000 on a project and you pay $7.37 for Mickey Mouse drawings of a metal building with the highlight being two Cornhole boards. And, you send your mom to represent you, at a meeting, designed to discuss the project. Typical Democrat shenanigans. Do they really expect anyone to take them serious? I’d like to have one of those shiny shovels. The hard hats came from Bob the Builder kits on Amazon.

Anonymous said...

How much of the $8-10 million is in TIF?

Anonymous said...

Like I penned earlier, this is money laundering.

Anonymous said...

Meh, it's pretty much one unemployed Karen who doesn't like rap. He's been running a full on media campaign against this thing and getting people all riled up, but have you seen the drawings? It's like ten picnic tables and a two foot riser surrounded by a privacy fence. It's a glorified porch.

Ridin' dirty.

It is the Jackson way.

Y’all see Ricky’s social plug? He is the womens’s basketball coach. Fuckin dumbass is what he is.

How long before Kingfish will be paying for a weekly column by the owner of the M-Bar? Lord...there's Salter, Crawford, St. John, Gardner, Berger....why not the M-Bar owner? What could possibly take the blog further south?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell.
