It appears one Sovie won a round against JPD at a roadblock this weekend. A gentleman posted on Facebook Friday:
A few hours ago, I was driving home through one of the poorest areas of Jackson, MS. I encountered an roadblock where Jackson Police officers were asking for driver's licenses, proof of insurance, checking license plates for expiration, and conducting visual searches in vehicles. I wonder why Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba would allow the Jackson Police Department to harass the citizens of his city like this. You won't find this in the more affluent areas of Jackson but it happened in this area. Well, I refuse to allow this government overreach to occur to me, a private citizen.

By the way, the 5th Circuit ruled several years ago you can record the poh-lice.

I did this to the RCSO last night near Whitfield. Of course, they were looking for an escaped inmate. I just assumed they were targeting drunks during the sportsball event.
You sheeple can submit to tyranny and die a cowardly slave if you want. I’m never submitting.
That’s awesome. Things would have likely been different if the supervisor wasn’t there.
That is NOT how you deal with checkpoints. He got away with it that time.
Just show your license and insurance and move along. People want to complain about crime, but they also want to complain about efforts to catch people with outstanding warrants.
I don't know the law but assuming he's right, he's still an asshole. How many times can he say "pig"?
Wow, that officer is poorly trained. JPD, if you are going to do this the officers need a legal briefing/training before hand, or this is what happens.
If the driver wasn't being detained then he is free to go. You can't have it both ways.
What an arrogant asshole. He needs a good ass whuppin.
I have a son in law enforcement. Assholes like this guy are a problem. Show your license and insurance and go on your way.
Bet that guy is fun at parties
10:27 there comes a point to stand up. Checking for insurance and drivers licenses isnt that point. If Mississippi would do like other states and make insurance mandatory for a tag and driver's license, our rates would substantially decrease. Yet we are worried about offending people. Many other states aren't.
“That’s how you deal with checkpoints, people.”
Actually, it’s not. He’s lucky they just didn’t want to deal with his dumb ass. They very well could have.
Constitutionally in MS, driving is privilege and not a right, and something that requires a valid license and insurance to do. The road in the video is public road so LEOs are charged with ensuring that all laws are being appropriately followed. So long as they're stopping everyone, it's not discrimination or profiling, nor is it illegal to require license and insurance to be shown.
Guy filming is just another ignorant that thinks he isn’t.
Might want to look at an actual law. Like Miss. Code § 63-1-41 for one example.
I think Kingfish posts these and calls these genuine patriots names “Sovie” so that he himself can fell validated by the comments from his fellow bootlickers for being such a submissive sheeple himself.
I would refuse to even roll down my window. The moment you roll down your window the police will say they smelled even if they didn't smell anything just to search your vehicle.
For everyone going "just show your ID and insurance"....yeah the Nazi's just wanted to see your papers too.
The Bootlicker brigade is chiming in right on queue.
95+% of murders are committed in SW and W Jackson, which city has the worst murder rate in the whole USA. By cooperating with Stop and Frisk and with roadblock inspections, we can help get criminals arrested. It's worth a minor inconvenience to prevent carjackings and murder, rather than just reacting after the fact.
The officer in the video needs to be trained to respond more effectively.
Come over to Rankin County and act like that. Bet he shows em both.
He sounds like he's a JOY to be around!
Not sure if that car is a rental or company vehicle, but whatever that sticker is in the window, it's out of date. I looked at Wayne the Whiner's Facebook and he seems like an Antifa crybaby. Literally a post a day complaining about something. I can't take those kind of people seriously, plus the demented cartoons. Perpetually offended and against "the man" yet is a grown man posting cartoons and as many posts on Facebook as a teenage girl.
§ 63-1-41
Every licensee shall have the required license in his immediate possession at all times when operating a motor vehicle and shall display the same, upon demand of a justice court judge, a peace officer or license examiner or other authorized employee of the commissioner. However, no person charged with violating this section shall be convicted if he produces in court a license theretofore issued to him and valid at the time of his arrest.
So make your choice: show it to the cop, or show it to the judge.
What’s a Sovie?
Is that some made up slur for patriots that bootlickers use to cope with the realization that they are submissive sheep?
He'll be the first to call 911 for help, when he feels like his rights or feelings have been offended or violated.
§ 63-1-41. Possession and display of license upon demand.
They should have arrested the asshole.
Other commenters are exactly right. The police have a firmly established constitutional right to run roadblocks to check license and insurance, so long as it is not done selectively. "Sovie" obviously means one of those self-proclaimed Sovereign Citizens, a group of fools who think the Constitution insulates them from any control at all by the government. (They also believe that every citizen owns a share of everything owned by the government.) He's lucky as Hell that he didn't encounter a more aggressive LEO, or he'd still be in jail. He is absolutely wrong about everything he said.
Very easy to comply and thank our officers for making our streets safer. This jerk with an attitude is typical of those that do nothing to support our city.
Respect the blue. Unless you are a white prick and the cops are black. Good grief.
I’m glad they are out there.
"You won't find this in the more affluent areas of Jackson but it happened in this area."
He's also a liar. I've been through two in Fondren in just the last few weeks.
It’s too bad the cops didn’t check the comments section on jj for the expert legal advice from Joe Bob and Leland before showing up to their road block. Then, they would know which inapplicable statutes to recite.
-rolls eyes
At the point he failed to display his driver's license, he could have been arrested, if JPD is even allowed to do so. I don't know the city policy on arrests for non-violent misdemeanors.
But without a facility to book misdemeanors, it's a moot point. And douchebags like this guy get to leave the encounter, emboldened with the idea that they own the police, and give bad legal advice to the public via social media.
Wayne Wheezy's world must be an awfully unhappy place. I hope he finds peace with himself one of these days.
Some of the checkpoints I have run into in Jackson were manned by JPD police academy types. This was just a cosmetic stop to make a show. When they get serious, this guy would be headed downtown. What an ass!
Adding to February 14, 2022 at 11:06 AM: And, if you wait to show it to the judge, they'll clear the charge, but hit you up for court costs.
@ 11:00 am. That’s a Texas inspection/registration sticker and it is out of date. I just got mine renewed.
He will be the first one that bitches and moans when they don't come right away to his house. No wonder we can't get anyone to apply for police jobs. Keep it up and do three a day and eventually crime will come down, will take a year though.
To everyone claiming “the cops are legally permitted to check for insurance and license” you know thats not the point of these stops. The point is to sniff out drunk drivers. Which I agree are a menace. But stopping and searching everyone to find a drunk is unconstitutional.
He talks big by constantly saying "F***" and describing the police as "pigs" to himself. The way that he acted to the police, he's fortunate that he didn't get thrown on the hood of his car and arrested. Just a sad little man.
If this minor inconvenience will help get these animals off of our streets and out of our neighborhoods, then I am all for them. I hope the police public relations people will explain that these stops are part of their plan (if there is a plan) to prevent street crimes before they have a chance to occur.....I believe the public will be glad to cooperate if we see some positive results.
A saying in LEO circles “ you might beat the rap but you still get the ride”. He should have been arrested and his vehicle impounded. A judge would have dismissed the ticket when he produced his license and proof of insurance in court, but he would still have spent the time in jail to be booked and released and pay the towing fee to get his vehicle back. His type sometimes have to learn the law the hard way.
@11:42, a TVNewser this weekend featured one of Jackson's majoritarians complaining about the same. An enterprising journo would have asked, or FOIA'd if necessary, a list of post-facto checkpoint locations to validate.
The Emperor only blessed the checkpoints because the Legislature is in session and the optics needed to shake them down for $$$ demands he appear cooperative and truly concerned. Once all the solons go home at the end of March he'll put the kibosh to the proactive law enforcement effort and return to his crime indifference-as-usual posture.
Just watch.
Projection @ rate = 119 YE 2022 murders in Jackson, Mississippi.
@11:09
I think "Sovie" is actually Slovakian for dumbass.
This guy is going to drive a dirty cluttered sub compact car for the rest of his life, angry and bitching about everything he encounters. This guy is a male Karen. He probably talks about his rights at work all the time, too, and wonders why the boss never promotes him.
He is a dickhead but, we have to retain the ability to tell the police to FO if they violate the constitution.
Thanks to JPD for these checkpoints. Lots of violators caught whom otherwise might be planning their next crime.
What an ass. I'm at a loss as to why KF posted this. Back the blue!
Before he ever said a word to the cops, he was dog cussing them in the video. Jerk.
What a real a-hole with an extremely limited vocabulary. How many times did he use the F-word? What a complete jerk. I hope that when he needs to police they will have more important matters to which to attend.
This is right out of the "First Amendment Auditor" / sovereign citizen handbook.
Have I committed a crime?
Am I being detained?
What law do you believe I have violated?
Am I free to go?
What is your R.A.S.? (Reasonable Articulable Suspicion)
AND reply with "I don't answer questions" but then can't shut up with more garbage.
And then repeat these same questions over and over.
One of these morons went to J.P.D. and started recording using the tired old "I am gathering content for a story, I am an independent journalist".
He got slapped and cried all the way home.
He then tried his skit at the Richland Police Dept. where he literally ran out before the chief could "assist" him.
11:44: There are some actual, practicing attorneys who read this blog, and sometimes post comments. The statute cited above definitely applies to the situation. Here are a few more, for you edification:
"It is unlawful and . . . it is a misdemeanor for any person to do any act forbidden by this chapter or to fail to perform any act required in this chapter."
Miss. Code Ann. § 63-3-201.
"No person shall willfully fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order or direction of any police officer invested by law with authority to direct, control, or regulate traffic."
Miss. Code Ann. § 63-3-203.
"Every person who falsely, fraudulently, forcibly, or willfully induces, causes, coerces, requires, permits, or directs another to violate any provision of said chapter is likewise guilty of such offense."
Miss. Code Ann. § 63-9-7.
The jerk in the video got a pass. He got lucky.

February 14, 2022 at 11:09 AM (made up slur for patriots that bootlickers use to cope with the realization that they are submissive sheep?)
SAME PERSON WHO THOUGHT YOUR COMMENT DIDN'T POST? OR CLONES SIMILARLY BRAINWASHED?
I should have pointed out, this moron was more of a 1st amendment auditor than a sovereign citizen.
A sov cit will cite things like "I am traveling, not driving"...as they believe only driving can be done for commerce.
It really gets entertaining watching a sov cit go through their routine, especially the part where their door glass gets smashed.
If he wasn't rolling with home made license plates on his hooptie he's just posing as a sov citizen!
JPD isn't setting up roadblocks in "more affluent" parts of the city because that's not where the criminals are driving around shooting people.
Wasn't sure the following would happen, but apparently it is on occasion true. JPD apparently doesn't check Insurance at traffic stops. They will issue a No Insurance ticket, along with the PC ticket, even when shown insurance information either paper copy or on electronic device as required by law. Even spoke with a neighbor of mine with JPD and a Municipal Court Clerk. It is the responsibility of the one given a ticket to prove this in court or at the clerks office. That whole department seems fucked up at times.
Y'all sure are happy to see these roadblocks, and assume they are accomplishing something. Can anyone tell me exactly how many rogue felons have been captured due to these roadblocks? How many stolen cars have been recovered? How many illegal guns taken off the streets?
What exactly are these roadblocks accomplishing (with proof please, not your feelings).

3:02, ask any cop. They'll catch a ton of uninsured motorists, which makes me happy. And the occasional stolen car or drunk driver.
Takes a real rocket scientist to protest a violation of his privacy and then post a video of it on social media. Brilliant.
My only question is who instructed the boy mayor to remove the handcuffs he had placed on JPD ?
When he said what crime am I suspected of committing... the cop should have said driving without insurance and a license. When the dickhead said why am I suspected of that the cop should have said because you won't show it to me.
It is obvious to me that he went out of his way to enter this checkpoint so he could bloviate about his rights, etc. There are dozens of similar videos on YT of idiots doing the same thing at US Border Patrol checkpoints.
Imagine that the "dope boys" of the Jacksons mayor crew know when and where these check points are.
Were they cooperating with Rankin to help find the escaped convicts? I see the peanut gallery won't shut up.
So let's see. It's okay to set up roadblocks in predominantly black parts of Jackson. But it you do it in Madison County there is a subsequent lawsuit.
Yeah, this guy is an asshole.. I hope he made it home in time to sleep alone.
Speeding and many other traffic violations are not "crimes." They are infractions.

Hey 4:19 poster, read 2:05s post above.
What a fucking asshole. Screw him. He just wanted to piss someone off. If his life is that bad, that he cannot give an officer these documents, move to California, maybe he will be happier.
Wow, that could've me I'm a law-enforcement officer he would be 10-15 one time to Jail plus his car towed. You may beat the charge but you will not beat the ride
1047, I've heard that claim that "if insurance was required for a tag..." but it doesnt hold water. As one who has worked for over a decade to provide a method for ensuring a driver has insurance, this isn't it.
All it takes is for the driver to apply for insurance, get his card, and purchase his tag. If he is on a monthly pay plan for his insurance and doesn't pay the next month, he is then off with a tag (after complying with your proposed law) and no insurance. Same would be true for a driver's license except that it wouldn't come up again as an issue for four years.
There is a process whereby the holders of a tag can be compared with active insurance, and fines issued when the insurance lapses or is not renewed. Potential big dollars for the state if implemented - but there are groups in the legislature that do not support such improvements to the system.
Your proposed concept would certainly be an improvement, but in other states has proven to be less than satisfactory when dealing with the population that doesn't care to follow the requirement of having insurance. Probably includes the population of this f***ng pig driver and those with whom he shares his time with as well.
@4:19 - 'predominately black parts of town'? Obviously you only want to believe some of what you read, and ignore what doesn't fit your narrative.
Two roadblocks in Belhaven over the past three weeks. Two in Fondren. One at Fortification Street exit from I55. These are ones I am personally familiar with, and hard as it might be to conceive, these are not "predominately black parts of town".
Yes, I'm sure that there are roadblocks in other parts of Jackson, which with an 85% AA population, would include most of the area. But if there can be four or five in the small area of Belhaven and Fondren, surely there would be some in the 'predominately black parts' of the City with Soul.
@7:17
Attitudes like yours are why I never shed a tear when I read stories about you punks with badges getting what is coming to you.
I gone through some on wayneland and reddoch. There have been some over by new Jerusalem and others in Belhaven.
4:27, I’m away from my computer right now, so I don’t have access to my Lexus account to look the statutes up for you. Please believe me that misdemeanor traffic violations are in fact “crimes.”
-1:11
The Liberals in Command here should take note from their fellow liberals in the La La Land of Hawaii. Just set up a vehicle registration program like they have and you’d get rid of half the Government Cadillacs and Redneck Raiders on the road. Full inspection, even take pictures of your car to put in the database, pray that check engine light isn’t on. Oh and you have to register your bicycle for a small fee too.
@8:32 PM Yes, by definition misdemeanors are "crimes," but many traffic violations are only infractions, and they aren't "crimes."
@3:02 PM
It’s YOUR argument. YOU gotta prove the roadblocks aren’t effective as REAL-LIVE POLICE believe them to be.
Side note: Don’t come with your feelings.
If I let you tell it, the police should NEVER set roadblocks.
So this guy sees the police as a problem. I think maybe this guy is the pig,,
This guy rolled up with an obvious attitude. Try to bring that to Rankin County smartass. Failure to comply with a lawful order is against the law & yes Einstein you can be detained.
Just stay in Jackson where you belong.
Methinks the insecure officer was about 1 week out of the academy.
This "Wayne Wheezy" reminds me of that "first amendment auditor" from awhile back who would go into local government offices and video everyone. What a pathetic empty life he must live.
"There is a process whereby the holders of a tag can be compared with active insurance, and fines issued when the insurance lapses or is not renewed. Potential big dollars for the state if implemented - but there are groups in the legislature that do not support such improvements to the system."
I can tell you from the fact of me being there, the Pearl PD at a check point months or perhaps a year ago had the ability to real time check with their dispatch for current insurance, as my policy had just renewed a day or two earlier and I had not printed the new "card" to carry in my vehicle. They verified my coverage on the spot and sent me on my way.
Who knew that White Privilege still exists in Chokwe’s town. Free the land!
Didn’t know I was surrounded by so many copsuckers on the right
These are the people that will, without a second thought, arrest you for not wearing a mask or taking a vaccine. These are the people (ALL OF THEM) that, should a dictator ban guns, will come to your house, shoot your dog and you for not handing them in.
I know that Thin Blue Line looks neat on your car. They won’t factor that in when they pull you over and confiscate any cash they find, even if they find you innocent of any crime.
Anyone nowadays that chooses this profession, is doing it for power. It’s no longer protect and serve. These are the literal agents of The State you were railing against
1) I believe the 'undetained' individual in this video to NOT be white.
2) A police dispatcher has no possible way of knowing who has or has not got, let lapse or renewed insurance on a vehicle. 11:33 is incorrect.
3) The undetained and free-to-go gentleman in this video should have been directed to pull to the side of the road just as would have been the case had he been suspected of drunk driving. At which point he would be approached by at least two officers and asked to produce DL and POI or either cuffed and taken for a ride. He could video the event up to the point of being cuffed, at which time he would be hard pressed to operate the video function of his phone from behind his back.
4:27/10:10, Here you go:
"It is unlawful and, unless otherwise declared in this title with respect to particular offenses, it is a misdemeanor for any person to do any act forbidden by this chapter or to fail to perform any act required in this chapter."
Miss. Code Ann. § 63-3-201.
The name of "this title" is "Motor Vehicles and Traffic Regulation," and the name of "this chapter" is "Traffic Regulations and Rules of the Road." By "unless otherwise declared," it means those offenses that are felonies instead of misdemeanors. In short, there are no traffic "infractions" in Mississippi that are not also crimes.
FYI, the Mississippi Code is available at no charge on the state Supreme Court website. If you want to do research, I suggest you start at the source.
Tell Ice Cream boy there are check points all over town. Especially in the more affluent areas where these peeps slither around.
@4:32 PM - You are either a troll, or you really need to put down the meth pipe and crawl out of your mom's basement.
I would say you are being detained we think an escaped jerk may be in the area
