Update: The Mayor pulled the garbage contract from the agenda after the City Council came out of executive session.
It's time for another edition of Trash Talk as the Jackson City Council takes up the garbage contract yet again. Will the third try be the charm for Richard's Disposal of New Orleans? How many times will the Mayor raise his voice? What is the over/under on Virgi whining or whatever it is when she speaks in that ever so tortured voice? Will the Prom Queen bring a full deck of race cards? Does she actually play with a full deck? You might have to wait a while to find out because....... the City Council immediately voted to go into executive session to discuss possible litigation with its attorney, Roy Campbell.
This is the resolution and draft contract presented to City Council today.
This is the order that was presented last week.

There is 0% chance this fails.
Mayor Jerkoff WILL get this through.
Apparently his life depends on it, because I have never seen such open and in your face blatant corruption foisted on the only service that works in the city.
This will happen.
Enjoy your government Jackson. You picked 'em.
At least not everyone in the room will be an idiot.
There's no better example of a clown show than Jacktown city council meetings. Well, maybe Hinds County board of supervisors meetings. What an absolute shit show Jacktown/Hinds County local government has become.
Guess i'll watch The View instead.
Interesting item in the draft agreement: approved containers are either the 96 gallon cart provided by Richards or any other sturdy container no more than 35 gallons.
So where is the transparency as campaign on?
Let the final check cutting grease fest begin. Blatant fraud and NO ONE has the guts to stop it.
Is it over? How did they vote?
Pulled the contract - guess in Executive Session the Mayor learned that the council's legal argument about submitting the contract for a third time wasn't going to hold water - hopefully it has now sunk and the Mayor will have to go back to plan 4. Wonder if he will come back with his Soc team this time to avoid presenting the WM proposal for adoption.
There must be video, audio, or photos of Mr. Right.

He's transparent to his donors.
Jackson and New Orleans are both festering with violent, unchecked crime, and both have mayors who deliberately do not care. The Jackson mayor desperately wants a New Orleans contractor to replace the last remaining functional municipal service. Why? There’s a reason…
I’ve been really impressed with the Clarion Ledger’s in-depth, penetrating coverage of this story. CL always seems to have its finger on the pulse of what really matters in the state capital.

Just dropping by to see how well 11:11's post aged.
I live in Jackson. My garbage gets picked up twice a week by Waste Management, I guess. This charge is added to my water bill. I don't see any problems with continuing with W. M. So they increase their cost. I bet I don't get any $3000 bills from them as I get from the water dept. What's the problem with continuing with Waste Management????
Moving a few deck chairs around LaMamba's fave proposal does not upright his Titanic sinking? Semantic subterfuge means it's a whole other document, says little one's Counsel 'No' says Council's Counsel.
Right about now, is Richard's Disposal stopping payment on check to boy mayor's campaign fund? EAT CROW time!
Nobody ever said where Richard's Disposal would have dumped the garbage it would have collected in Jackson. It doesn't own or operate any landfills like WM. I guess all that waste would have would have wound up in the Pearl River, like so much of Jackson's other waste.
@2:47 pm
"What's the problem with continuing with WM?"
Does LaMamba, radical voodoo priest of New Africa, thinks WM stands for White Masters?
He does live in a Twilight Zone of Marxist delusion, where piles of bodies is a race he won: most murders per capita in the whole USA!
2:47: The problem is that WM isn't interested to giving Ladumbo a kickback.
Unsolicited advice: Voice your concerns at the City Council meeting.
Translation: This is the comment section of a washed up blog
If as 2:47 states above, his trash bill is attached to his water bill, then obviously millions of dollars are owed on garbage pick up fees by people not paying or receiving water bills.
Didn't see any RD contributions on his CFRs.
So the mayor pulled the contract literally at the last second. To what end? Present a 4th contract? A fifth contract? When does it end. Doesn’t waste mgt own all the landfills? If they are not renewed why can’t they just jack up their rates to outside venders. I’ve got to stop reading about Jackson. It’s just depressing.
What legitimate pastor of a legitimate church would have an interest in garbage collection. This is laughable in and of itself. Unless, of course, the pastor had been contacted by someone $$$$, to use his pulpit to influence his flock to bend the ear of their council representative. The perception, if not reality ,of corruption of this shit show is mind boggling. The good news is, we moved out of the bold new city in the early nineties. The bad news is we still own commercial property that has been circling the drain now for years. Some of the property is located in south downtown, that is a war zone on any giving night according to our tenants. Random gunfire that has damaged some of the buildings, , theft, and properties trashed from a couple “businesses” owned by some of the mayors homies. No police presence ever according to our tenants. The city of soul has been sold.
I assume Lumumba pulled the contract because he knew he still didn't have 4 votes.
Banks, Stokes, Foote - who anticipated that voting block?
So what does that mayor have to give, you get one of them to flip their vote?
If the government does take over Jackson what do they with the thieves running Jackson. It must the government is going to start throwing money at Jackson. Why else would the elected officials in Jackson be so damn set on seeing the city go broke?
Virgi is underestimating the cost to her re-election depending which way she votes on this.
Someone is refilling their palm grease gun as I type.
There is a legitimate window of opportunity for the Mayor to salvage his legacy. Coach Prime has come to town and brought some positive attention. He and his family will be in an ad during the Super Bowl. More indirect attention to Jackson. Why not spend the rest of his term fixing what is broken, so when people take a closer look, it's not just lipstick on a tired, dilapidated, and neglected pig?
More like a legitimate window of opportunity for the Mayor to begin to salvage his legacy. I interact every week with Jacksonians of all stripes and those still supporting this loser are few and far between. Have no doubt a legit scientific poll taken using a demographically defensible sample would show Lumumba's up/down number easily 10 points south of Uncle Joe Dementia's crashing numbers.
