Crime does indeed pay in Jackson. Hinds County District Attorney asked Circuit Judge Adrienne Wooten to revoke the bond of a first degree murder suspect even though he later participated in a shootout and is the subject of an ATF investigation for looting a gun store. Judge Wooten denied the request and kept his bond at $20,000.
JPD arrested T'Quaris Jones on April 30, 2018 for murder in the shooting death of his cousin. Jones allegedly shot his cousin 20 times with an AR-15. A Jackson Municipal Court Judge denied bond for Jones but Circuit Judge Tomie Green lowered it to $20,000. A grand jury indicted him for first degree murder in May 2019. Circuit Judge Adrienne Wooten refused to increase his bond even after prosecutors asked her to do so. She also denied their request to require him to wear an ankle monitor.
Jones apparently could not stay out of trouble despite his morbidly good fortune. T-Q got into a shootout at Sykes Manor Apartments in March. His father actually delivered the Glock to JPD headquarters. A police report states:
Mr. Jones stated that the black male exited the Charger and stated "What you doing out here, you shot my cousin". Mr. Jones stated that he killed black male, Justin Harper in April of 2018. Mr. Jones stated that the black male began to fire several shots at him. Mr. Jones stated that he took cover on the passenger side of his vehicle and returned fire from his Glock 17. Mr. Jones stated while returning fire, another unknown black male approached him &om behind and began to fire shots at him. Mr. Jones stated that he was struck in the right ankle. Mr. Jones stated that it was at this time he ran to his house at 3318 Rickay Drive. Mr. Jones stated that he was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. Mr. Jones stated that he did not recognize either suspect. When asked where his gun was at, he stated that he had given it to his friend Shawn Dixon, black male.Jones claimed self-defense. Judge Green's original bond order stated he could not possess firearms. She said Friday the order expired so therefor he did not violate it. Judge Wooten did not issue a separate bond order when he was indicted last year. Thus Judge Wooten did not place him under any conditions for his bond although she refused to raise the bond or require him to wear an ankle monitor.
ATF agents testified last week they are investigating Jones for participating in the looting of an Atlanta gun store during the recent riots. The report is in the earlier post.
However, Judge Wooten said none of that mattered. WLBT reported:
Judge Wooten said in her ruling that the court order had expired, and there were no rules in place to continue to monitor him.
She also said he had the right to defend himself with a gun, referring to the shooting he was involved in, and that being shot and going to the hospital was a good a reason as any to violate curfew.
The judge did require that Jones be tracked with an ankle monitor, but his bond would remain the same.
Kingfish note: There is no video of the hearing because Judge Wooten would not approve camera coverage requests. Well, it wasn' t that she denied the requests, it's just that they sat in her office collecting dust while she ignored them.
There is flat out no excuse for this crap. If there is no bond order after indictment, the fault lies with Judge Wooten. The rookie Judge sounded more like an attorney for the suspect than an objective trier of fact.
Of course, this is the same judge who called up WLBT a year ago and chewed out the news director over the reporting of this case.

Obviously, black lives don't matter to Judge Wooten.
I famously once said, “ Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”
May I present Democracy in Hinds County, MS?
Your criticism of Ms. Wooten's behavior will only insure that there will be more of the same, if not worse. The practice of low bonds and lenient release are primarily decried by the conservative element in Hinds, Madison, and Rankin County. Wooten and several others like her are more than willing to show those persons in no uncertain terms that they have no influence in Hinds County. None. A message is being sent.
They don’t matter to tommie greene either. She called herself a judge. She’s nothing but a total disgrace to the bench and the judges robe she wears.
That quote attributed to Henry L. Mencken.
Mencken's comment on Lincoln's Gettesburg Address attributes the Southland not the Puritan Unionist the honor of dying for one's country.
There was at onetime an audio interview with Mencken on YouTube.
Third World here we come.
It's hard to know anymore if there is a right or wrong in all this social disruption. It seems to me that black and white races are pretty much the same, just different colors, with plenty of criminal acts to go all around.
I need to apologize to Kingfish and everyone who posts here. I am white (strike one) I firmly believe if I committed some kind of crime, this judge would give me a firm/large Bond and refuse to reduce it if Jesus walked into the court and told her ne needed me. (strike two). My reason for feeling this way is a belief she would release every black person who walked into her court, if she thought she could get away with it. (strike three)
I guess I am out. Sorry for thinking these things guys.
Taking care of business in the Nation of Jackson.
Kingfish,
Your report is incorrect. Don’t get your info from the civil attorney who represents the deceased’s father or a prosecutor who could have EASILY met its burden but failed to do so.
Bond probably should have been revoked based on what actually occurred but that is different from what is proven in court. The Constitution still matters.

Yep.
That's same logic that will keep the Mississippi flag flapping in the breeze for a few more years.
Is Jackson becoming another Seattle?
If he kills again, the judge should be charged with murder.
If I had a dollar for every time a commenter told KF he was wrong over the past 14 years I'd have enough money to purchase a zoo animal collection.
Isaiah 5:20. There will be a reckoning.
@8:54
Jackson becoming Seattle? Hardly, Seattle has nearly 0 black population. I moved here from Washington State in 2016... You can go 2 days in city of Seattle without seeing a black person. It's just culturally different that people in the south can't understand. Only Asian and whites in Seattle. They just like to promote diversity without living it
I’m with 8:09 on this.
So far, in my experience, Judge Wooten has followed the law “by the book”. Unlike her predecessor, she has not become an extra prosecutor in the courtroom (yet). Kingfish’s “catch and release” whining posts have gotten so tiresome to read. Find examples of where a Judge has broken a law or judicial cannon and not just exercised their discretion then I’ll be the first one to protest. I think the majority here is just used to the rulings of biased judges that fair judges seem pro-criminal.

And I am responding appropriately: moving out of Hinds.
let OL' TQ come to Rankin and act a fool.
We'll lock his ass up so quick he won't know Tuborg Gold from the Schlitz malt liquor bull.
Is there nothing the governor can do?

$ to Purchase a zoo animal collection?
No $ needed as soon the zoo will be closed and animals
Will be up for FREE adoption. Just hang loose as it’s coming**
Seems to me pretty simple as to Article 3 Section 29 of the Mississippi Constitution- If you out on a felony bond, and he was, and there is probable cause to believe you are connected to a new felony carrying more than 5 years, then your first bond gets revoked. Period- Ain't no judgment call- You bring witnesses to court to say Judge this is the new charges against him- I wasn't there for the hearing but if that proof was presented and the Judge ignored it, then she ain't no judge no more- just another advocate for crime and chaos

These are the people you need to be talking to if you want to see change in Jackson. These are the people enabling her and her choices. If the contributors get in her ear, or better yet stop contributing, maybe things will change.
Jackson reminds me of post civil war Kemper County. If you don't kill or harm my family, shoot my dog or steal my horse it's all good. These are all personal crimes and no one really cares apparently. I live in Hinds County and don't care either. Mama tried.
6:35 - it's "canon," not "cannon."
Most of that campaign list of attorneys are civil attorneys and could care less about the criminal side of that courtroom- They aren't the ones to talk to her cuz they want their own share of some Hinds County Civil Justice. Others are civil defense attorneys hedging their bets for when they come before her.
Cannon was a Quinn Martin production.
No one accused her of breaking the law.
