No big deal. It's part of a culture.
I'm on the East side of Ridgewood near Briarwood but didn't hear the shots. I did hear, what sounded like, 2 quick explosive sounds between 11:30 and 11:45. Almost sounded like a car accident on the interstate or something.
Must have been a riot at Hinds County Jail this morning
The ER staff determined that it was only the perception of a gunshot wound.
How many more of these shootings till you people stop parroting NRA talking points and seriously consider gun control legislation? There are reasonable solutions that should be considered in my humble opinion.
Next-
I’m with you 4:11, we need to seriously consider gun control legislation to stop these shootings. We can model our legislation after the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation—Chicago......
.
So just what are these reasonable solutions that should be considered?
@4:11 PM - you don't have a clue, but you are parroting the left wing progressive party line.
The NRA has little impact on pro-gun issues, but they want people to believe that so their collection plates will overflow.
There are some very effective pro-SECOND AMENDMENT (Bill of Rights) organizations that aren't giddy with getting rich, but are very focused on protecting our RIGHTS!
1. OUTLAW ASSAULT WEAPONS (AND YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT, SO DON'T QUIBBLE)
2. NO MAGAZINES OR CLIPS LARGER THAT 5 ROUNDS.
3. NO FOR GOD'S SAKE BUMP PHUCKING STOCKS
4. AS, LIKE HUNTERS, REQUIRE A SAFETY TEST AND LICENSE TO CARRY AND USE A WEAPON
THIS IS A START, REDNECKS
THIS IS A START REDNECKS
Maybe you should turn some of that anger inward towards your own city and culture there cowboy. When was the last time you read an article where a couple were walking down the street in Madison and the boyfriend pulled a gun, shot the girl multiple times, then left her in the road to bleed to death? Some cultures do think that is acceptable and would be shocked if it happened. But in other cultures, it's just another day. Take a shot at someone? No big deal. Kill someone and go to prison? No big deal, they know lots of people there and have probably already been there before. It's not the guns a**hole, it's the culture. Why don't you use that racist anger you have to make changes to where one day, when someone gets shot the neighborhood will be shocked and upset instead of ignoring it
Hey dummies? You think more laws are the answer? Guess what, shooting people is against the law but they are still getting shot. Get over your leftist liberal selves and elect some qualified people, administrators and more especially judges. You created the problem and you need to fix it.
@ 9:44 - which one ☝️ of those would have prevented this shooting?
We should outlaw shooting people too!
Bumper sticker philosophy (but a good one): When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.
A gun doesn’t walk out of the house on its own and begin shooting. What type of gun is never an issue, it’s the person holding it. Gun laws? We have gun laws, but the problem is criminals end up with them

Read this then tell me what we need to do. You lefties need to wake up.
So, this "poor woman" would still be with us if not for bump stocks, clips that hold over five and so called assault weapons? Gotcha.
Never mind that the thug-boy who offed her grew up in a culture where life has no value and the way to settle disagreements is either 'you cut somebody or you shoot somebody'.
The sad reality is that none of the above proposed gun control reforms would have had any impact on the shooting in issue (or the many others in Jackson). While gun control may create the perception of action, it won't change anything concerning Jackson's crime crisis. The problems are deeper. They are social, spiritual and practical problems: Lack of commercial activity and tax base, loss of the family unit with engaged fathers in the black community and an persistent sense that the problems are someone else's fault and not those of the leaders in the community and the people themselves. Wealthy cities can mask these problems better. Jackson simply can't.
I’m also with you 9:41. Past time for needed reforms you outline, and the Never Reasonable Anytime (NRA) is headed for Bankruptcy.
8:42 hit it on the head. What was not said is that this situation will most likely NOT change. It just won't. So - barring federal intervention with a long term federally funded education campaign (highly unlikely) stories like this will simply continue to be part of living in this city. A gradual downward spiral. What's at the bottom I wonder? State takeover of the city? How bad does it have to get before that happens? How long will it take to get that bad? How many humans will need to die before real change takes place?
This was a Letter to the Editor many years ago. Leftist libtards will not understand this! Go ahead and try to put a spin on this Gun Grabbers.
My Gun:
Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Remington 870 right in the doorway. I gave it 4 shells and left it alone and went about my business.
While I was gone, the mail gal delivered my mail, the trash man picked up the trash, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few of my neighbors drove past.
Well, after about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn’t killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had been presented to do so. In fact, it hadn’t even loaded itself.
Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the media hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people. Either the media is wrong, and it is the misuse of guns by criminals, or I have one of the laziest shotguns ever made. I must hurry off now and check on my spoons. I hear they are making people fat.
One has to wonder just how bad can Jackson get. It’s not going to improve any time soon. Can you imagine what it will be like in ten or twenty years, once the last little tax base has either died or left.
Was there a connection between the victim and shooter, or was this another random firing on a vehicle on I 55?
@11:26, I see why you saved that amazing story all these years. It probably belongs in a museum, that’s how inspirational it must be to the better educated such as yourself. Unfortunately, just as you amazingly predicted, it is far too deep a thought for me and my leftist libtard friends to comprehend. I guess we will truly never understand the greatness of the anonymous philosopher who so poetically deconstructed an entire political system in an anonymous letter to the editor.
11:26 I have experienced the same with my guns.
Neither one of my two pistols have done squat since I bought them 16 and 23 years ago. They just sit there looking nonchalant. Their little minions, hollow point rounds in a high capacity magazine, still number exactly the same as the day I last returned from the range. My girlfriend and I walk 2 miles a day in our neighborhood. Not once have these guns of mine shot her; much less killed her and left her in the street. My guns have never discharged into a vehicle with small children occupying the back seat. These slothful pistols haven’t even gotten involved in a road rage incident on 220, robbed a Dollar General or made a cameo in a music video.
What makes our guns so unlike the ones we keep reading about in places like Chicago, Baltimore and JACKSON MISSISSIPPI? I wish the Congresswomen Lucy McBath or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would figure this out for all us owners of unproductive firearms.
... it is far too deep a thought for me and my leftist libtard friends to comprehend ...
Why are your leftist libtard friends arming themselves?
You know. I was just thinking. If only we had restrictions on drugs, we wouldn't have a drug problem. Everything would just fix itself.
Do people really think gun restrictions would help anything? Geeze. Facepalm.
People who do not favor reasonable restrictions on gun ownership are hopeless, brainless rednecks.
Thank you 4:06. Totally correct. Brainless rednecks indeed.
Using the term ”redneck” to attack people you disagree with is racist. It should be considered hate speech just like other racially insensitive/inflammatory words. Shame on you.
Hadn't seen many hoodrat rednecks... but, I don't go in that part of town much. Sounds appalling.
