JPD issued the following statement and mug shot.
Jackson Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Northside Drive near Eastwood Road.
Shortly after 4:30pm,
officers responded to a shots-fired call in the area. They later found
a black female who told officers that a black male fired shots into her
vehicle from his, as she drove down Northside Drive.
Based on the victim’s description, officers later located the
vehicle at a nearby apartment complex. The driver exited and later fled
on foot. He was apprehended following a brief foot pursuit.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old, Lee Martin Adams was
arrested and is charged with Aggravated Assault for allegedly shooting
into an occupied vehicle.
The female driver was not injured from the gunfire.

Sounds like they knew each other (they went right to where he lived) and he was chasing her.
Seems most shootings aren't by random chance. It certainly seems they knew each other. Most people even the hoodlums just randomly shoot at random people or objects. Generally always a motive with the person being targeted. Not random. Exception being a school or mass shooting. Retired police officer speaking here. This guy looks like he's on something indeed. Also on another note apartment complexes are breeding grounds for crime. Even in flowood certainly Jackson and Ridgeland by no means is an exception. Sad but true.
I live in Ridgeland. Several apartment complexes recently near my neighborhood have taken a turn for the worse over the past 4 years or so. Sad... I left Clinton 10 years ago bc the apartments across from my house was once made up of college students ended up being a scummy complex. My parents still live in Clinton and say it's really affected the area. So yes I do agree that apartments are breeding grounds for crime.
And that's not even the most surprising shooting of the day. Someone started shooting at the vigil for Lil Lonnie-- who was shot/killed in Jackson.
On the bright side, maybe the US military will start combat training in Jackson for spec ops troops before deployment to Middle East war zones, and the city can use the money to fix the roads.
Just a thought.
Y'all just think these are gunshots. Move along. It's nothing but loose rock on the roads where work is being done.
But, on another note; Apartments don't 'breed crime'. You have it backwards. Those urchins among us so disposed to criminal activity simply 'stay' in apartment buildings. So, in your quest to determine which came first...the criminal or the apartment, it was the criminal.

Since around 1950. An entrance to Eastover is about 3000ft from Northside Drive.

The statement said "Northside Drive near Eastwood Road. Which also happens to be about 3300ft from the entrance to Eastover.

7:32, I moved to Clinton a couple of years ago after living out of state for years. You are right about the apartments. Plan was to rent an apartment while we looked for a house, but we didn't because of how sketchy all the apartment complexes were. I was so surprised because when we moved away, Clinton wasn't like that. Also have to say I was surprised at how many check cashing and title loan places had popped up.

Neighborhood grapevine says JPD was chasing a shoplifter and the woman whose car was shot at was in the way of the fleeing shoplifter.
Hmmmm.... piecing together the story from various sources now, apparently the neighborhood grapeville is b.s. in this case! Pity.

I saw this guy in a red convertible with top down... it was a mustang... he was speeding through Sherwood forest neighborhood... I didn't say anything as he was close by while I was walking my dog... I felt I was being racially insensitive had I asked him to slow down. So maybe next time my common sense will prevail.
I wonder if this is the same guy that shot at the eye doctor at Northside and I-55.
