She's a republican superstar. Could easily see her win this thing. The two Jackson guys are going to hurt each others chances...

Anonymous said...

I hope she had the sense to consult with Kingfish first or at least advertise with him....I would've timed my ad on KF with an announcement. Duh!!!

She would be a great representative. She is smart, approachable, and willing to engage on issues. She will be a strong advocate for Mississippi.

Competition is good. There will be a runoff despite what Guest's operatives are posting here on Jackson Jambalaya.

Finally someone with the needed political experience is in the race.

Anonymous said...

Looks like Sally's people are busy busy busy...

Sally is a consummate campaigner. She will work harder than most in this race. It is going to be fun to watch for sure.

Finally...a candidate with COMMON SENSE that we can support against the "supposed" monolithic Beast system that's only been proven to want to crush the people. When people are afraid of their government, tyranny thrives. Government should be afraid of the people.

OMG - is this a paid political advertisement or what? Every time I have heard her speak, she sounded like she was reading directly from the republican manual - nothing new, nothing individually conceived, nothing that hasn't already been said by the other republicans. I'm not saying she is a bad candidate, I'm just saying there is nothing special here.

Guest for Congress said...

Sally Doty is Mississippi's Sarah Palin: pretty to look at but lacking in substance. Guest is going to win this primary hands down.

Anonymous said...

I never heard of her

She will do a fine job in Washington. Harper was too cautious and chicken****. Can't wait to see her kicking butt in DC!!

Anonymous said...

I’ve known Sally for a long time. She is very bright and capable. And no, she is no Sarah Palin. I have no doubt she would be an excellent member of Congress.

Anonymous said...

All these folks running to be in the minority.

Anonymous said...

This'll be fun to watch.

Anonymous said...

Is she in or out of the Barbour Political Machine? I'm afraid no one will stand a chance of winning without the establishment support...

Anonymous said...

She has no chance to win.....no one knows her outside of Brookhaven.

Anonymous said...

Was just in Lincoln County. The sheriff is not for her the mayor of Brookhaven is not for her and the president of the largest bank is not for her ,he even tried to talk her out of running. she has a lot of problems.

Anonymous said...

Wow not really sure who you were talking to in Lincoln County, I can assure you Sally has the support of the local leaders in this community.

Anonymous said...

To "Was just in Lincoln County". You just happened to drop by and visit with the sheriff. And the mayor. And the bank president. All in one quick trip through Lincoln County. And they just happened to all be in today with time on their schedule to meet with you.

You are either a liar or the best hooker in south mississippi.

I've heard she has raised a ton of money so far. She is going to make some noise in the this race.

Don't you know, 2:50, that was Michael Guest as he made his rounds that was posting his findings. Just like the immediate, continual comments last week telling us how hundreds and hundreds of folks were there in Rankin County for Guest's announcement and it was all over. The comment above at 1:30 is worth about as much as the dozens before it that were posted by Sally's family and campaign workers telling how great she is.

The "Haley Barrbour Political machine Establishment" IS the problem. We need to reign in that continuing criminal enterprise disguised as lobbying during this election cycle and every election from this point on. I bet she wouldn't vote to allow vital government operations to shut down while incurring debt that our great great grandchildren will be paying off in 60 years by spending $2 billion/day on the ongoing wars. Reject the war hawks and the masters who finance their rise to power.

If you want to measure the true nature or character of a person, give them power and see what they become and achieve. How have these establishment shills utilized their power? Can you truly say that TPTB establishment shills have used their power to benefit you/us? Are you better off right this very minute than you were a few years ago? How about 10 years ago? Time for a new plan and to end the Barbour Political Establishment reign of terror. Im picturing the Mad Max scene where they free all the people held captive and they see light for the 1st time.

Sen Doty introduced the bill to make domestic violence a 13th ground for divorce in MS, which was strongly opposed by the Barbour-Butler Snow flunkies (Andy Gipson,et al) for reasons we can only guess, but it would be very interesting to talk to their wives. So I guess it's easy to say she is not part of that horrid establishment. And for that very reason I will support her in this endeavor.

Anonymous said...

I can't wait to see this "W" Girl and her positive energy bring much needed change to DC!!!!

Anonymous said...

Sen Doty did introduce the bill you mention, 3:44. And it was fought by Rep Gipson, as you say. But to throw in the Barbour-Butler Snow business is just pure bullcrap. Gipson is not a part of the so-called Barbour machine; has no ties to the BS (appropriate acronym) firm; and there is no evidence that they injected themselves into the debate over that issue at all.

Nice try - but next time try to find an argument that has some relevance, or truth - either one would be fine.

Doty is having a fundraiser Friday evening in Brookhaven. Instead of guessing about her support, just show up and you will see who supports her.

Congrats to our federal elected officials for agreeing to re-open government for another few weeks. What a joke! Are these the same people that say we should run government like a business? Should businesses only plan for a few weeks in the future at a time? I guess Apple, Amazon, etc. can learn a lot about how they should run their businesses from our esteemed elected officials. Methinks that things will not change with Doty, Guest, Whit, etc. More of the same I would presume.

More of the same I would presume.

When it comes to open borders nothing would please the Sandersons more.

Just a lawyer said...

Any chancery judge would tell you Doty’s bill on domestic violence was all about politics and was not necessary legally. That’s what happens when people draft bills in an area of law where they aren’t knowledgeable. Doty is the classic “form over substance” politician. We have enough of those in Congress already.

She has my vote.

I'm so glad that she's entered this race.

Here is the deal on Sally Doty, she may or may not get in, but she has the talent (intellect), toughness and demeanor to succeed. I called it years ago after about 10 minutes meeting and discussing national issues with her. She listens (to you) and you feel like she has “dug a ditch” before, she will work hard every day and could be a great advocate for working families. Mississippi needs something fresh-and maybe it is a solid female congresswoman. Keep in mind, she grew up in Kosciusko, so she knows different legs of a constituency. If Mississippi can’t make some pivots in electable candidates, bad things are going to happen (See Doug Jones for more details). People are tired of these same old stuffed shirts. I cannot stand to look at any more of the whole Michael Guest “conservative” entitlement and establishment garbage in this business-the guy, his collection business etc. She needs to run a solid narrative (for all the people) and stay the Hell away from Bryant and Tate and that crew.

Sally has my vote and here is why:
1. She is smart, she will listen, and she will flat out work the other guys.
2. Her work with the divorce laws and teenage pregnancy prevention are just two examples of her actually working to solve the problems of Mississippi, not just warm a seat and blah, blah, blah the company line like just about everyone else up there.
3. She has big time support already, you will see.
4. I am a huge State fan, but I couldn't tell you where Hughes has been since the Final Four. He is the head scratcher. Guest...I don't know, we will see.
Now, Sally did sound a little "canned conservative" in her announcement, but she will evolve as this goes forward.

Sally is no stranger to the Hinds, Madison area. She worked for one of the big firms after law school. She attended church in Madison County as well. She is hard working and smart. Things men do not know how to respond to from a woman. She has my vote over the other options.

Anonymous said...

This will be a very nasty campaign and she better get ready for it.

Anonymous said...

Her most significant accomplishment during her time in the state senate is to trick people into believing that she could out work anybody. Look at the bills she's had passed. Not of importance. Look at the bills she's introduced. Not of importance. She's not even introduced a bill that would meaningfully address some the issues that Mississippi faces. We need better.

@ 1:30, the three people you say are not supporting her from her home county, just happen to be hosting her first event in her home county. No your facts before you get on here and tell stories.

Love the partisan staffer comments here, from all the major camps. Truth is Doty may be a competitor if she is able to raise the substantial money required. Hughes will be a player and unlike the "State Fan" above, he has been around and active ever since the '96 FF season. Parker may be the surprise underdog with good rural support throughout the non-metro area and no problem with money, just no name ID. But money can buy name ID. Any of these three could be the contender for the #2 position in a run-off with Guest, who is depending on a Rankin County vote to let him lead the ticket.

But, the Rankin County base will do no more than that - whichever makes the runoff will be the next Congressman/woman from the 3rd.

Said from one not associated with any of the candidates or their campaigns, unlike ALL of the comments above.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
