Carlisle Street robbery

JPD issued the following statement.

Jackson Police are investigating the call of an individual being robbed at gunpoint. It occurred just after 6:00pm in the 1100 block of Carlisle St.

A male victim was robbed by an unknown black male suspect who pulled a handgun and demanded his belongings.

The suspect fled in a light colored, older 2-door car, possibly a Nissan. The passenger window was also taped.

The victim did not suffer any injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Police or call Crime Stoppers.

there is a duplex on carslile near this block which gets robbed religiously and has since 1988.

The passenger window was taped because that was how he got into it when he stole it. Why would cops not stop everyone with a taped window?

So let me try to understand this correctly... you find it appropriate to describe the suspect only by gender and race? Doesn't this put every black male at risk. To me this is the problem we face as a nation. I can't wrap my head around this being ok. Can someone tell me what makes this ok with modern day America?

936, I assume you subscribe to the CL political correctness of reporting estimated height, weight, age but omitting the race in describing suspects.

At this point it may be that the more detailed description of the perp is not available.

Would you also suggest that nothing be told about the car (i.e. color, taped window, etc ) until the make, model number and year were available.

9:36, the color a person is happens to be part of the description of that person.
Why would they leave out such an important part of the description of a person?
There is no problem. There is information everyone should have.
Much like the description of a car used in a crime. The color is a very important part.
It does take a little bit of common sense to understand. You may find it very hard to understand.

From the Belhaven Nextdoor:
Fortunately, NewStage video surveillance identified the car and the victim was able to describe the criminal:
- Black Male
- Blue hooded jacket, gray pants
- Older model car with plastic taped over passenger window
- Car Tag HVQ 466
- Tag is registered to a 2003 Nissan Sentra four door
- Address of registered tag is known and JPD is investigating

9:36 -- Crime and anthropology make it ok. We deserve to know what type of person did this, and also since a majority of black men have dark hair, and brown eyes, it would be a moot point to add that discriminator (unlike in the caucasian community where hair color and eye color, etc., can be quite different and would also be an added help when describing a white criminal). Maybe height could be added, but that is also subjective. One thing that is not is that it was a black male so more information out there, the better. You guys make me nuts! Ever heard of common sense? Better to know we're looking for a black male rather than an Asian female.

I lived in Austin Texas for 15 years and the race of a suspect wasn't allowed to be published. Of course in Austin there were very very few blacks so the demographics were much different than those of Mississippi.

used to live on Carlisle. Typically, if you didn't walk the dog past the drop off point at hill you were going to be ok...except when cops were chasing perps down the street or running gun battles weren't happening.

12:48, care to provide a link for the last 3 running gun battles in Belhaven? Hell, try a link to the last one.

You may have lived on Carlisle, but you're full of what your dog was excreting on the walk before the drop off. Belhaven is prone to these sorts of crimes because of the ease of ingress/egress for the criminals from the neighborhood combined with the major thoroughfares leading to the interstate. These are crimes of opportunity, not some episode of 'The Wire.'

Cameras, more and more are going to make the difference. The more homeowners that have them, the better. And, the more criminals convicted with video evidence will get the word spread not to pull this in Belhaven. The neighborhood will be a no-go for these sorts of crimes, just as folks know not to drive after drinking through Rankin, or drive period in Madison after dark with a tag not from there.

You have never lived on this street. Gun battle... please it's opportunity crimes happening here... people come from poorer areas to places with means and resources... mainly families that send kids to private schools and we'll educated higher incomes. You claimed "gun battles" that's too funny!!!

I'm sure @10:14 that NextDoor bully Tom Head is plenty pissed off at you now for disseminating information outside of his control freak reach.

not 12:48 here BUT, was a 70 year old lady gunned down in the last year or so and then some guy got shot recently around midnight while waiting for a chick or something. those arent running gun battles, but they sure arent games of tag either.

and 2:32, where to begin. you sound like you are ok with theft because it is just those without means taking from those who can re-buy their stuff. if that is your moral compass, i am glad it resides in belhaven and no where near me. and guess what, those crimes of opportunity often turn into violent crimes when somebody isnt as rich as you and dont want to just give their shit up. idiot.

Tom Head is a Joke of Jackson. Someone go give him a coloring book. Maybe He'll draw up a diploma from some fake university.

The problem is y'all are moving out of the city letting the criminals win. The more of you move out the worse the crime is gonna get.
The crime will follow you to the suburbs by the way

8:43, got news for you. We, who have moved to the suburbs, have what is commonly called law enforcement to protest them. This is something Jackson lacks.
The criminals know all about law enforcement and the lack of it. That is why the crime rate in Jackson is the highest in the area.

8:43 where I live they are tough on crime. You call 911 you bet the police will be there in a minute. Unlike Jackson where my Aunt called the police. It took 2 hours for JPD to arrive at their house. Keep on drinking that cool aid.

9:36, Are we to presume you are in favor of omitting the identity of race when a white cop shoots a black?
........didn't think so.

I understand there has been an arrest made in this case. The victim was an out-of-town actor at New Stage.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
